Profile Robert Boxer is an Evolved former inmate Moab inmate (formerly formerly of the Russian mafia) without much to look forward to back in the free world. He's reasonably intelligent and speaks English well, but pretends otherwise with fair frequency. Sometimes to avoid conflict or social interaction, sometimes to because he thinks it is funny. Sometimes for other reasons!

Is this the real life?

Is this just fantasy?

Caught in a landslide,

No escape from reality.

Appendices

Skills:

Thuggery: Boxer's made a career out of beating the crap out of people and looking like he can beat the crap out of people. He's a big guy, he knows a lot about fighting and a little about torture, and he's not squeamish. He's had some mafia-sponsored training to maximize his efficiency in the departments of incapacitation and restraint as well. He's no ninja, but he's really, really not a guy you want after you, either.

Language: Russian is his first language. He speaks it. He also speaks English very well, possibly aided by his affection for American cinema, and his accent is not nearly thick enough for him to be difficult to understand.

Guns: He's familiar with the basic operation and maintenance of most firearms. He's not a spectacular shot or anything, but he's got the whole point, click, reload, don't point the part where bullets come out at yourself thing down pretty good.

Athleticism: He's in good shape, even at 47. He does everything he can to stay active, no matter the circumstances – maybe the one thing that got successfully drilled into his head back when he was in school and it was one of the few things he was consistently good at. Push-ups and crunches in his cell, jumping in place, lunges. Whatever he has room to do, he'll do it, mostly by force of habit these days. It's something to pass the time.

Career Criminal: Boxer's not very well versed in the law, but he knows how to break it pretty well, both out on the street and in prison. He knows how to pick and cut locks, though he's not great at it and kicking down doors is more his style. He's aware of the steps it's wise to take to avoid leaving incriminating evidence behind during break-ins and beatemups. He's been a getaway driver and assisted in smuggling operations, has occasionally eluded arrest by playing dumb or being just the right amount of helpful. He's also been in and out of prison enough to be well-versed in how things work in the average big house. Good places to hide things in your cell, standard procedures, how to screw with guards, social heirarchy. He might not be able to explain it all in scientific terms, but he knows how it works.

Fx fx fx: Between his job in Soviet Russia and legitimate work he did in the US to ensure that he was eligable for citizenship, Boxer has basic mechanical know-how and repair-type knowledge. He could probably get a job as an electrician without a problem. Maybe a plumber too, if the guy that was hiring was desperate.

Memorable Quotes:

  • "A man tried to kill me, so I shot him. Also, I talk to rats." - To Julian in Chow on the subject of why he is in Moab.
  • "I am Boxer. Your uncle." - Lying (badly) to Alexander in Present Tense after it becomes clear that he's amnesiac.
