  • November 8th, 2006: Peter Petrelli loses control and goes nuclear in Kirby Plaza. The casualties cannot be accurately estimated; even a ballpark number is really beyond the capability of any 'expert'. The most common numbers given are 150,000 dead and another 150,000 injured in the blast, with who knows how many people affected by the radiation in either short or long-term. The damage to NYC's infrastructure is equally profound.
  • November 12th, 2006: While many instances of harassment and persecution pass unreported or with relatively little notice, the unprovoked beating of a Sikh man at one of the refugee shelters makes national headlines and mention in more than a few global papers.
  • November 30th, 2006: Electricity and all other basic utilities (water, phone service, etc.) are completely restored to the following undamaged regions: The Bronx, East Harlem, Harlem, Morningside Heights. Northern portions of Central Park, Upper East Side, and Upper West Side also have service. Prior to this date, such amenities were only spottily available. They remain unreliable for months yet in these and other surrounding areas (Queens, Brooklyn, Jersey City, etc.).
  • December 25th, 2006: Power is restored to inhabitants in the undamaged East Village, Financial District, Little Italy, Stuyvesant Town, and Tribeca, illuminating a vast array of Christmas lights which are left up and on until the first of January. All basic utilities function again in these locations, if not always dependably.

  • January 1st, 2007: Gramercy and Murray Hill are officially verified as habitable, and people are allowed to move back into those neighborhoods. The same is true of western Hoboken in Jersey.
  • February 18th, 2007: After federal agencies (CIA, FBI, etc.) run out of suspects for the presumed terrorist act and are forced to admit defeat, Senator Nathan Petrelli reveals the truth behind the event — that it was no terrorist attack, but the actions of a psychopath named Sylar with superhuman abilities. The Evolved who demonstrate their abilities during the press conference as support of Nathan's sanity leave the public with no doubt that the Evolved really do exist. Activating Evolution becomes an instant bestseller, and in many places, those found or even suspected to be Evolved are met with hostility.
  • June 21th, 2007: After many and repeated radiation tests, the waters of New York Bay are deemed clean enough for swimming. The ban on fishing is similarly lifted, but consuming any fish caught around Manhattan Island remains strongly discouraged.
  • July 15th, 2007: The Linderman Act, having passed Congress, is signed into law. Daniel Linderman, for who the act is named, becomes the first Evolved individual to voluntarily register himself as a gesture of goodwill and show of support for Senator Petrelli.
  • November 8th, 2007: In addition to a day of remembrance and innumerable memorial services around the world, the anniversary of the bomb is marked by the beginning of clean-up efforts within the irradiated-but-not-demolished zone. Priority is given to eastern Jersey City, eastern Communipaw, southern Chelsea, eastern Greenwich Village, and eastern SoHo; ground zero and part of the fallout-hit regions remain untouched, except for plans to reconstruct West Side Highway and Park Avenue and link the divided parts of the island back together.

  • January 1st, 2008: Eastern portions of Jersey City, Communipaw, Greenwich Village, and SoHo are officially returned to 'livable' status; people are allowed to return to their homes. The move is controversial, as many people hold the cleanup is still incomplete, but a lot of prior inhabitants return anyway. Nonetheless, many houses and apartments are put on the market in short order.
  • March 15th, 2008: A fire breaks out in a holding out in a holding facility for Evolved individuals owned and operated by Homeland Security. Although the facility is still in the final stages of construction, it kills several employees in residence at the time and spreads to surrounding structures, bringing the total number of casualties to sixteen (including two firefighters).
  • March 24th, 2008: Initial investigations reveal the cause of the March 15th fire as arson.
  • March 26th, 2008: PARIAH contacts New York City media and claims responsibility for the fire.
  • April 10th, 2008: PARIAH is officially declared a terrorist organization by Homeland Security. A $50,000 reward is offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) involved with the planning and execution of the March 15th fire.
  • April 11th, 2008: Congressman Nathan Petrelli donates an additional $10,000 of his own money to the $50,000 reward being offered by Homeland Security. Several individuals step forward with information, but are unable to provide any solid leads.
  • May 28th, 2008: After more than a year of expensive cleanup work, and in spite of public dispute, southern Chelsea and Garment District are once again opened for habitation. Northern sections of both neighborhoods remain cordoned off, as does the blast zone. Because the infrastructure in these neighborhoods is intact and the basic services are more or less running smoothly now, the few who do return are not plagued by the unreliability most other neighborhoods suffered when services resumed.
  • July 17th, 2008: The cleaned-up and rebuilt middle stretches of West Side Highway and Park Avenue are unveiled. No other clean-up efforts or construction have taken place within the blast radius, and it remains a sobering sight for the foolhardy tourists and stubborn natives who drive through it.
  • Early October, 2008: Mummified remains begin turning up all over New York City, and while the New York Police Department is initially baffled, it eventually comes to light that an Evolved individual is responsible for the murders.
  • November 4th, 2008: Democratic candidate Allen Rickham is elected President of the United States. According to analysts, the major concern of the populace was the Evolved, and the similarity of Nathan Petrelli and Andrew Mitchell's stances on that issue ultimately divided the majority that could have elected one of them into office.
  • November, 25th, 2008: Phoenix has its first "Miracle Day". Vanguard attacks Washington Irving High School and blames it on PARIAH.
