A Cherished Memory

by Barbara

Children will tell you many things, very few of them entirely accurate. A favourite book, for instance, could change with the mood, the night. As could the desire to read or be read to, at a moment's whim. The want to even exist in the same room as a once beloved book can fade, and return in the span of a tumultuous few minutes.

It's only when it's gone, grown up and facing the world, do those children realize how much they miss those nights, stories read to them. Even in the absence of family, those moments are fondly remembered.
