Background

Born to a family of archaeologists and relic hunters, Nadira spent her early life in Egypt with her life balanced between dig sites and nearby cities. As she grew, while she retained some interest in the study of history and artifacts, she was much more interested in being around people. When she was older, she dabbled in a bit of black market relic trading, managing to sneak off some bits of things from dig sites here and there.

Eventually she was caught by an older gentleman who steered her interests towards bartending and being social in an attempt to keep her away from the darker side of the black market. After time, though, the less-than-legal activity caught up to her and she got in over her head with a criminal organization who wanted more from her than she wanted to give. Fleeing Egypt, she went to New York to start a new life as a bartender there.

Then the flood waters came. With her ability of hydrokinesis, she found herself in the front lines of trying to help people to safety. She went for those who didn't seem like anyone was going to help—the misfits, the outcasts, and the people who had no one left. Even after the initial flood waters hit, she never stopped her pursuit to help those around her. For her, this was her purpose, what she was meant to do, and there was no higher calling. Near the Pelago, she set up a home base for those she took under wing. With a small community of people loyal to her, she travels about between her home and places nearby aboard a small dinghy, her higher purpose driving her to aid whomever she can.

Psych Profile

Nadira is primarily a social creature. She dislikes being alone for too long and enjoys socialization and contact with people. Be it her looks, her humor, or her charm, she thrives as the one lighting up the room and enjoys being a beacon for people to look to. Despite her fun-seeking personality, one of her strongest traits is her compassion and fierce loyalty. She'll stick her neck out for others she sees as in need of her assistance, and when she makes a promise she keeps it. While Nadira doesn't particularly have an anger problem, she's explosive when she does get angry. It takes quite a bit to stoke the fire to that level, but she's a firecracker when she's mad.

Evolved Ability

Nadira's hydrokinesis developed more rapidly once the waters came. By spending a lot more time using her ability, the limits of her strength have expanded. The range at which she can find and control water has increased, allowing her to more easily find water sources that aren't vast flood waters and draw those for use. The amount of water she can control has increased, allowing her to hold much larger quantities at bay and manipulate more. Purifying water is now a daily experience for her, and she's able to remove pure water from any other substances polluting it at a rapid pace. There's almost always a source of clean drinking water when Nadira's around.

Nadira's Evolved ability is Hydrokinesis, control over water. At the most basic level, Nadira is hyper-aware of water and its locations. She's very adept at determining the nearest large body of water, and when focused, can even locate smaller amounts of water if necessary. This is usually used to find a source to draw on when she needs to use her abilities. Upon locating a source of water, Nadira is then able to draw it forth, so long as there is a potential way of escape. There is usually a way around water escaping from somewhere, such as a pipe or a water bottle, by increasing the pressure in the water so that it can burst out. She can sense a source of water that's within 100 feet of her current location.

Once Nadira has a water supply, she's able to control the water. It moves at her command, and in the directions she chooses. With her ability, she can cause water to have a cohesive form. While this does not change the form of water nor make it solid, she can force the water to stay in a particular location and keep a particular shape. While a few gallons of water staying in a cohesive form would be no problem, the more water she tries to hold pushes her strength. Should she attempt to control more water than normal and her ability gives out on her, all water will no longer have any control on it and will immediately lose form or drop. Water within 60 feet of her location is available for Nadira's control.

One particular aspect about drawing water out from a source is that once Nadira has located a source, no matter how strong, she can separate the water from it. For example, if there were a glass of water with red food coloring in it, she could successfully extract the water from the food coloring and leave the coloring still in the glass. This can serve as an attempt to purify water as well. While this may be useful, it also means that any liquid she attempts to control will only have the actual water from it travel under her control. To transport a liquid, Nadira is unable to transfer the whole thing under her control, but merely the water. To attempt to separate the water from a substance takes longer depending on how complex the water supply is—Nadira has had the most practice on salt water and can pull water from that almost instantly. More complicated solutions take longer and more concentration, though practice has sped up this process.
