I figure I might as well put up a list of things that law enforcement people might be able to look into. It's very sparse at the moment, but I'll be harassing others to help flesh it out, so keep an eye on this thread!
- Brooklyn Mugging
- Cassidy
- Coren
On April 8th, a man came into Crown Heights to report a mugging. The perpetrator was a woman with dark hair, although he didn't get a good enough look for an accurate sketch to be generated; she apparently was able to choke him unconscious without actually touching him, and is therefore presumed to be Evolved. She stole his jacket, wedding ring, and the wallet that had been in a jacket pocket. (Contact: Rose)
- The Executioner of Evolved
- Cassidy
- Coren
There's apparently another serial murderer of Evolved. The perpetrator uses sniper rifles rather than any Evolved ability; may be non-Evolved. Three deaths so far, no suspects. (Contact: Samantha)
- Thea Barberis Murder
- Felix
A refugee residing in Thomas Jefferson, Thea Barberis (19), was found dead in her residence on April 16th. It matches and appears to be part of a series of murders which have occurred intermittently over the past two years, with the victims apparently killed by electrocution. (Contact: Niles)
- Mass Murder By Coercion
- Felix
- Murdoch (?)
- other investigators welcome
On March 14, 36 teenagers committed suicide (one survived) in protest to Homeland Security's alleged anti-Evolved civil rights transgressions and dealings — a tragedy acknowledged throughout the entire country. Since then, a shooting at another school revealed that at least one other child could have been the 37th, having been under the influence of a stranger who had promised to help train his Evolved ability along with the others. However, he escaped with holes in his recollections that his non-Evolved friend has already done his best to fill in. This case has no current suspects. (Contact: Chinatown)
- Greenwich Village Double Homicide
- Cassidy
- Elisabeth
On April 10, NYPD was called to the scene of a double homicide outside a bodega in Greenwich Village owned by Carlos Hidalgo, a 70-ish year old lifelong resident of Manhattan. He was accosted outside his store as he opened for the morning by two clean-cut, apparently wealthy teens, who are part of a larger group of teens shaking down a dozen local business owners for a couple hundred dollars apiece each week. When he wasn't moving quickly enough for them, the boys began to rough him up, and then the next thing he knew, they were on the ground choking to death. He claims to have not seen who the culprit was or what happened, and Elisabeth has been unable to break that claim. Rebecca was able to draw an image off a card from under a dumpster with a name on it — she saw a hooded figure take off from the scene of the crime in her past-vision.
Hidalgo believes the boys might have been just a bunch of rich kids out for kicks, given the minuscule amount of "protection money" they asked (he's been hit up before, though he's been free of it for a while). At present time, Cassidy is making the rounds of store owners in the area while Elisabeth makes the notifications of the deaths. At the present time, Hidalgo is not considered a suspect though we may question him again.
- UWS Hugo Boss Robbery
- NPC investigators otherwise
On April 11th, a Hugo Boss store in the Upper West Side, Manhattan, was apparently robbed in the middle of the day. The till was completely emptied of hundreds of dollars, the display case was smashed and several watches and pieces of jewelry were stolen, and several items of clothing too were pilfered, all of which would fit a man of around 5'10-6', moderate build. All of this seemed to just happen in a split second — the employees that day blinked and, all at once, there was broken glass and a broken till. The missing clothing was only discovered a little later when security tapes were reviewed and indeed, all at the same time at about 2:34 PM that day, the clothing disappeared along with the money and watches. No culprit was spotted. (Contact: Brooklyn)
Update: The case has since been closed rather abruptly. Any digging will readily conclude that apparently a shapeshifter with timestop powers broke into the store. Sylar is suspected, as opposed to any theories about a team effort.
Anyone else who has cases or suggestions for cases is welcome to reply here! I'll edit any such things into this post. If you're going to take on a particular issue, also let me know so I can note it here.
