The Cathedral of St. John the Divine holds an annual 'Blessing of the Bicycles' every April, and this time around it's set for this Saturday, April 18th. If there are people out there who would want to participate in such an event, I'm willing to run the scene — so if you're interested, please reply here. Once I know who's interested, we can work on scheduling. (Also, I'm doing something Saturday morning, so there's that complication.)
The ceremony is really very brief and this event would primarily be an excuse for people to mix and mingle, especially ones who might not otherwise expect to cross paths.

Wear your usual cycle clothing and bring your bike (or skates or non-motorized scooter) INSIDE the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine for the 11th Annual Blessing of the Bikes. Our friend Reverend Thom will say a few kind words and then sprinkle our bikes with Holy Water. There is a moment of silence to remember those cyclists we’ve lost in the past year, a chance for everyone to ring their bicycle bells in celebration of cycling, and we’re gone. Regardless of your religious beliefs you are welcome. Some people take it very seriously, some think it’s all a big joke, and some are deeply offended. Wear what you like — your usual cycling and skating gear is fine — but if you have cycle shoes with exposed cleats (such as Look or Speedplay), and you don't have rubber cleat covers, you will be asked to take your shoes off and leave them at the door so you don't scratch up the floors.
