If you have thoughts about Phoenix in terms of any of the above, please mention it here for folks to discuss, especially if you are not able to make any of the proposed (or impromptu) organizational meetings on the MUSH itself.
Delilah updatez:
Delilah needs some training, of any kind. She knows how to load bullets and pull a trigger, but not much else in terms of actually having some sort of training, physical or otherwise secret-agent-terrorist-like. She knows enough first aid and what not to have probably passed a certification or two. I don't think her magic skills would come in anywhere- unless she were to perhaps practice escapism more. So yeah- she basically needs literal training to be a baby freedom fighter. She could be put into a lot of different places, in terms of operations/missions/etc., but only with the right training.
In terms of her power- she's gotten better at telling it 'No, Stop'; she could feasibly learn to make it start too, so if there is anyone around that can help with that? She thought it would be hard to rewire brain modes, but for the most part it has been practice, practice, practice- and drilling it into her own head that she does not need to go into danger mode first thing every time. She's learned a bit to gauge the situation better when they crop up.
And once she is able to make it start on purpose/concentrate the doses(or hell, even if someone still caused her much duress/pain on purpose), Cat and I did discuss the use of the toxin as an outright weapon, or even for use as a device to gather information from someone it is being used on. in terms of weapons it would be very easy to make poison darts. >.>
I'd like to get Sal away from strictly medical/labwork as that happens off-camera or to NPCs 90 percent of the time. And Sal needs to feel like he's doing more than he used to do in the Ferry to justify the switchover. The problem with this right now of course, is that he's distracted over the Teo situation and wouldn't be good at focusing on anything that didn't feel urgent. He's depressed, hurt and among people who are essentially strangers, which is difficult for all involved. I'd like to get him out of the funk and I'd welcome suggestions as to how. I've been trying to work it out myself and have a few thoughts for what might help that I'm trying to work on.
What I would like him to do are more espionage/shapeshifter type things. He's a lot more willing to take risks right now, especially since most people in his old life think he's out of the country. So it'd be good to know what the leadership would send him on, who they think could be a likely target and what would be worth the risk. That would be an IC question for the people in charge, so I can only say that Sal's a fairly good actor and would probably go where they asked him to go. He doesn't necessarily have to replace anyone. He could sneak into places, just sit in a bar with known Humanis First people, check up on contacts to see if they're trustyworthy. Do kind of private investigatorly things. I've never explored his infiltration potential and I would like to. I've been playing him as the healer for awhile now and it would be good to do something different to keep him fresh and playable. He can still be patching up people off camera or if an emergency comes up, but I'd prefer it not be his primary duty anymore.
I think Helena's concern about Sal right now is the fact that he has flaked, and he needs to be more emotionally sturdy before he can really be utilized with confidence in the field. Another issue is that we have a need for someone to take charge of our medical care, which he wouldn't be able to do if he's out being all Michael Vaughn. But! We might be able to come up with a happy medium. The first thing Sal needs right now is some practical training anyway, so we could start him on learning self-defense. Helena actually has some books on espionage tactics, which while not as awesome as practical training, should be helpful. Perhaps we could talk to Hana about some training scenes involving infiltration.
Although he's never really used it against people, Sal has six years of Aikido training. So he's not totally fail combat wise. Teo also taught him how to shoot. And he's also spent a good chunk of time as alternate identities, so he's pretty decent at fooling people. So he's not completely untrained, but I'm all for more.
The issue is kind of a chicken and egg scenario. I think the only way to get him out of the funk is to give him something to do that's not medical. Get him to focus on something urgent, something that requires his full attention. Which would involve a leap of faith from Helena. I don't see him stabilizing if left to his own devices or just doctoring, especially since he doesn't really have friends within Phoenix to talk to and lean on through this. He realizes he's still 'Teo's boyfriend when Teo should be with Al' to a lot of them.
So perhaps he could be given a few test assignments that aren't especially dangerous or vital, just to prove that he can do it. Could be that he gets the training with a specific mission in mind, so he has something to focus on, some reason to push through the training. Otherwise he might feel like it's just busywork and be stubborn about it (I realize he's a huge pain at the moment. He is a spoiled little rich boy who has trouble seeing past the end of his own nose sometimes.) He's having a depressive bout of 'what's the point?' because he's fairly focused on his own woe. If Helena said 'we need you to do X, this is very important' even if she has to up-sell the importance, it would help him see outside himself.
This is just a reminder that Teo Laudani has an aunt — someone who has known him since birth and would probably be a pretty sound authority to turn to if there were any questions as to the man's identity/motivations — who is currently staying on the 4th floor of the Greenwich Village safehouse. While she may not be a member of Phoenix, she is no less available for consultation and it might be a good idea for someone to eventually let her know what's going on. She might have advice. In fact, it might even be possible to convince her to employ her Evolved ability in some way that might be useful to "the cause" if someone stopped by to do something other than shrug at her. (She also has access to a close friend with another very useful Evolved ability who is currently in the care of the Ferrymen.)
— In other words, you guys have access to Lucrezia and Amato. Make use of them. We want RP. Thanks.
I have an initial draft of a mission statement here. I'd appreciate opinions, suggestions, revisions, etc.
MISSION STATEMENT: It is the goal of the Phoenix organization to promote awareness and public support on behalf of the rights of United States citizens (and therefor being an example to the world) who are deemed as Evolved. This effort includes raising awareness of abuses of these rights and urging people to stand against them, as well as encouraging both Evolved and non-Evolved citizens to work together in shared and common purpose for the benefit of their communities, nature, and humankind. Phoenix can and will defend itself as well as other Evolved working toward this purpose against those who would seek them harm, but will not resort to the terrorist tactics of harming innocents in order to spread our message.
As an opening statement, this does wonderfully. I would suggest that below it, you put something like "The ways in which we plan to achieve these goals are varied and include but are not limited to:" and a list of the things we know we'll do.
For example, the Eyes Only Streaming Freedom radio show really needs to go ahead and get started again — it'd be really cool if we could get a weekly post for that. :) It was a good idea that sort of got lost, but I think if we use it to talk to people, Evo and non alike, about what we actually know (You know, like if we know that five people got picked up by Homeland this week and one of them had no criminal record, no nothing to their name, we should name names! Tell people to be on the lookout for them and if they can help the person, to do it or whatever).
Another example would be making a point to help your neighbors where you can — especially if you're Registered already. The more people who use their abilities in public to help people, the more we can change Joe Q Public's mind. Your powers don't have to be huge flashy things to be beneficial, and your real friends aren't going to that you have the power to make their lawn the best one on the block.
Just a good starting list of specific ideas of what people can do to make a positive impact would be helpful - might spark off RP for those who hear the mission statement.
(Sorry — this thing doesn't send emails or anything when replies are posted, so I didn't realize that there was one).
Yes, another document would be fine. Mission statements tend to be general. :) I was merely suggesting a list of things that we should put somewhere to be added to or crossed off as they're accomplished, as the case may be.
The awesome being that is Cat has created three sub-databases that address the individuals and issues with our three major enemies: Humanis First, Pinehearst, and Primatech. They can be found here:
- http://string-theory.wikidot.com/catabase:pinehearst-agents-and-activities
- http://string-theory.wikidot.com/catabase:primatech-agents-and-activities
I'd like feedback and recommendations for plans of action. Consider this to be an OOC discussion. What can we do something about? What's out of our league? What actions should we take? Analysis and suggestions are appreciated.
With the list we have, honestly, our run at Pinehearst is going to be problematic at best. I would offer the thought here that since we know Goodman can't come out of the closet about what the Company is up to, we look into the idea that someone else CAN. Goodman is not the only agent up there who knows what's what — he can't be. The question is, could we convince, coerce, or co-opt the body of another agent who DOES know what's going on and can blow the whistle and make it still happen? Did Helena or anyone else in the future make a study of exactly what Goodman said and did to GET the Company put under major public scrutiny — maybe we even have a shapeshifter or something who could be convinced to go on the air and *be* Goodman for the interview or something? Can we get the proof that Nathan Petrelli's election to the Senate a few years ago was rigged? Can we get any proof of Allen Rickham's situation and blow it wide open that he was blackmailed? I know OOCly that Tracy Strauss has already been approached with the information that Petrelli is Evolved…. can she be convinced to get him to take an untampered-with Evo test in public? :)
:coughs at Elisabeth and waves her little company card:
and besides, in the future it wasn't goodman who actually came forward with the info, it was someone else within the company. Goodman helped them.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. (Work with Primatech to take Pinehearst off the map)
That's the only thing on my mind. XD
And Sal, if you see this- Dee/Cat might be able to hook you up with some science. »
I'm willing to drop Dee smack in the middle of doing lots of Media for Phoenix(probably along side people like Cook, Sal, Gillian, any creative types…something something, dunno who else.)
So, that means new slogans, new symbols/mascots, new posters, new viral videos, new radio shows. She has access to Cat's studio and such for that, I would assume.
But I think the newest thing on the board would be a radio show/podcast sort of thing that people can download. If Hana can set it up, an EPIC untraceable IP/email to use for the Phoenix youtube channel. People can send questions and topics to another address/or that one. >.> Or however that would work. Then maybe a recording posted to Youtube every week/other week or something. The channel would also be used for the videos as well. PSAs, annoucements, et cetera.
Technically, Dee could make t-shirts and shit too. Stickers? Buttons? Other sorts of stuff that can be passed on anonymously and act passively for them and in support of change? Lol, balloons?
Edit: Also, I think Phoenix needs a Facebook page, please? It'll be great. :D INFORMATION AGE FTW.
ROFL. Maybe we could totally make a Facebook XDDD I meant just say we do on the game, but that seems a bit too hilarious to just skip over. I know people sometimes made myspaces for RP characters, but I've never seen a facebook group about something. If we did make a group, though, we could actually put our posters/logos/tagging jobs in the gallery there. We could link it off of the fanworks page and our faction page, even. use the announcements thing to remind people about any voicecast logs/videos. That might be what the current events on the board on game is for, but somehow making a page sounds fun, even if it might be a bit redundant… XD I have a facebook account, so I could probably create it right now. But should I create a group, or something that people put on the 'I'm a fan?'
Edit: It doesn't allow 'fake' pages. So no go. We'll just say it ICly and put it on the media box or something. XD
okay, so no facebook page. but I do not doubt there are pro-anti groups there ICly, so. XD
Leo reminded me. We defineitely need to disseminate information period- stuff like pamphlets, mini propaganda stuff, that sorta thing. Though there are people with more knowledge on that subject than Dee, so the producing of actual information for the media monkeys to use will have to come from the more knowledgeable people.
I am so full of posting.
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "Her way of doing the information flow is possibly going to be the youtube uploads of voice-casts and such."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "I might need to actually scene that out with some people, on getting that maybe started."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "Other than that- slogan/symbol tagging, posters…etc, we can pretty much just do that by the seat of our pants."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "I was actually pondering over whether or not to make a post on the +bb about Phoenix stuff starting to pop up in droves again."
Phoenix> *Darth Crashdown* Leonard says, "We should be doing some Radio Free Europe thing. This week in Homeland Security fucking with the rights of citizens, etc."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "I don't know what that is."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "Maybe I'm thinking along the same lines, though? On my post it was basically about uploading recordings of someone talking about events, and maybe with Hana's help actually taking questions."
Phoenix> Brooklyn despams for now. <3
Phoenix> Brooklyn has left this channel.
Phoenix> *Darth Crashdown* Leonard says, "Be sort of a news service, of the stuff the normal news isn't looking at."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "yeah. I guess that's what I was going for. Like, maybe some High school kid in Kansas got expelled from high school for suddenly manifesting as a telepath? I dunno XD"
Phoenix> *Darth Crashdown* Leonard says, "Exactly."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "yeah. that's the schtuff."
Phoenix> some juju Ghost says, "that is v. eyes only. i like it."
Phoenix> some juju Ghost says, "probably giving some good, pro-Evolved news would be smart too."
Phoenix> some juju Ghost says, "cat and teo talked about that before."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "Yeah. And Delilah would probably be good at the actual voiceover. Plus she has an accent, and more people listen to that. >.>"
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "and if people say 'you sound familiar' she'll just be like 'I am not the only redcoat on the internet'."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "or maybe even they could switch it up every week."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "And we could have /codenames/"
You must be on Public to do that.
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "call signs? what are those."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "haha, maybe we could just go with this X-theme."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "or rofl. The characters from firebirds!"
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "bitches, yes"
Phoenix> SMASH ZOOM BZZT Gillian says, "Well, guess that means I'm out."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "We can just make up names that would fit in it."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "without knowing what it was."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "Irony, thanks."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "that means teo can be a girl"
Phoenix> SMASH ZOOM BZZT Gillian says, "Teo's a girl?"
Phoenix> SMASH ZOOM BZZT Gillian checks for penis.
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "in Firebirds, yes."
Phoenix> SMASH ZOOM BZZT Gillian grope.
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "but. anyway. maybe not even weekly stuff. just random updates."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "better yet:"
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "We can all have access to the video account. Post our own snippets of stuff. We can have our own playlists and such."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "note: video account because its easy to just upload a blank box with a voiceover."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "not that we'd be making videos- though we could technically XD"
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "Gilly can upload a minute or two of saying something about kid from Kansas- Delilah can upload ten minutes of answering questions…etc."
Phoenix> Rogue Delilah says, "We can probably make a little page for (the upload account) too. A log page sort of thing, and keep it updated and linked to the catabase tab for media or something."
What do y'all think of that version of the voicecast stuff?
I spent several years doing voiceacting work over the internet — if you guys want, I can potentially hit up some of my old contacts, should you decide to go this route, and have the write-ups recorded by people with professional software so you can actually click on the link and hear it. Tossing it out there if anyone is interested!
So this is where you want to put a list of suggested skills to go on our skill list. I'm going to start with some basics here:
- Firearms
- Hand to Hand Combat
- Basic Computer Skills
- Computer Hacking
- Stealth
- Demolitions
For God's sake, add some first aid/medical in there — I know it's an overused concept, but so far as I know right now, Abby's actually the only medical person we've got! (Megan's Ferrymen and available, though she will happily help out whenever asked!)
Chuck is also the person Abby has been sending her business to, so he's available for them to tap.
Edit: Hana and Grace both also have some first aid skill.
Really, I think you guys are covered on that front.
Hm, some stuff like…
First Aid/Medical
Intelligence Gathering
Field Espionage
Strategy/Tactics training
?
If we're talking about the chart we discussed, then:
Interrogation
Mechanical (repair of equipment, weapons, vehicles, etc)
Public Relations/Media
Hell, you could stick on who drives and who has access to a vehicle.
- Combat (Hand to Hand)
- Combat (Firearms)
- Combat (Weapon)
- Computer (Basic PC)
- Computer (Programming, Hacking)
- Demolitions
- Driving
- Espionage
- Interrogation
- Mechanical (Building)
- Mechanical (Repair)
- Media
- Medical (First-Aid)
- Medical (Professional)
- Ops Planning (Strategy and Tactics)
- Piloting
- Public Relations
- Sailing
- Security
- Stealth
- Thievery (pickpocketing, lockpicking, etc)
- Vehicle Access
Looks good so far, guys. Anything else? Anything I missed?
I think thats a good start point, and we can probably make a first chart with it. Then if there are more, we can just plug them in?
Oh yeah, duh. Should we add a Media Work column? Or is that in PR?
@FRONTLINE Hay guys why r u hatin

Phoenix is an organization whose primary focus is to convince the public that the rights of the Evolved are just as inherent as those of any other person. We believe in the following principles:
- Evolved should be encouraged to choose to utilize their abilities for the fair benefit of themselves and their fellow man, while still having their rights as given to them by virtue of their citizenship in their respective countries. Likewise,
- Evolved should be free to maintain their personal privacy with regard to their genetic status.
- Evolved should not have to fear reaching out to their community, government, or appropriate private angency for assistance in controlling or removing an ability for themselves or in the case of parents with Evolved offspring, for their family.
- Organizations who perpetrate acts of violence against Evolved because of their genetic status should be actively pursued by our government as a domestic terrorist organization and destroyed.
- While organizations exist, law abiding Evolved citizens have the right to defend themselves and each other against them and any such groups who would pursue violence and persecution out of fear and hatred against the Evolved.
- Government action to detain or incarcerate any person, Evolved or not, without openness and due process of law for any reason is unacceptable.
- To oppose illegal and unethical experimentation aimed at the wholesale increase or decrease of populations with or without abilities.
Maybe take out the HF being named specifically? Leave it open to any organization that is like that? Naming enemies kind of makes it too personal on our end- there are doubtlessly groups not HF but just like them floating around, after all.
I'm with Juggernaut that we should take out HF's name specifically because that kind of makes it look like we're targeting them, whereas we're actually talking about any group out there that does that kind of thing. But otherwise, I think it looks really good.
I basically third what's been said before. And propose we come up with a shorter summation or tagline, however you wanna call it.. Equality for the Evolved, or somesuch.
Rise Up is more of a motto- a tagline is more like the stuff on movie stuff, like before or after the title. I know what Errant meant, but I can't think of any. XD Equality for Evolved could work, probably, though then again- I can't think of much else. We might be able to strike silently at HF and use Human(ity) in it?
So if we were a movie, our title would be Phoenix: Rise Up!, and the tagline on it would the 'Equality for Evolved' or whatever. Or something like that. I think.
New HQ: Did you guys like the idea of a mobile home or two? We did go over some of the finer points of TJTP. XD I'll be up for that in the future if you want to ask Dee to go scouting with someone- as she did live there for a few years.
And a smaller thing: Been thinking about taking some people out, ICly- to a club, or to Rockaway on a nice day. Just an idea so we can get together to do something that isn't War or anything Horrible. There's a distinct lack of camaraderie on a constant basis, I think- and maybe thats what folks could use. XD At least a little bit of being normal people again, yeah?
I would honestly love to see all of the factions do more 'camaraderie'-type scenes.
Edit: Not, like, all the time of course. But some sort of 'social' thing once a month or once every couple of weeks or whenever fits would really be great. Especially in the case of groups like Phoenix and Company, or even Law Enforcement, where the core members live together or otherwise spend an awful lot of time in close proximity… It doesn't seem like this really happens much anymore, not on the group-wide scale.
Remember, +events is not a staff-only piece of code!
Edit 2: Also! Delilah. I have something I want to maybe run by you. Others, too, but I'll start with you. I should be back sometime after 6pm Eastern; page me when you're free!
