Scene Title It's Cold in Siberia
Synopsis Eve drops by the Library to say goodbye.
Date November 15, 2008

New York Public Library

Once upon a time, the New York Public Library was one of the most important libraries in America. The system, of which this branch was the center, was among the foremost lending libraries /and/ research libraries in the world.

The bomb changed that, as it changed so much else.

By virtue of distance, the library building was not demolished entirely, like so many others north of it; however, the walls on its northern side have been badly damaged, and their stability is suspect. The interior is a shambles, tattered books strewn about the chambers and halls, many shelves pulled over. Some have even been pulled apart; piles of char in some corners suggest some of their pieces, as well as some of the books, have been used to fuel fires for people who sought shelter here in the past.

//In the two years since the bomb, the library — despite being one of the icons of New York City — has been left to decay. The wind whistles through shattered windows, broken by either the blast-front or subsequent vandals, carrying dust and debris in with it. Rats, cats, and stray dogs often seek shelter within its walls, especially on cold nights. Between the fear of radiation and the lack of funds, recovery of the library is on indefinite hiatus; this place, too, has been
forgotten. //

It is relatively early now and also fairly quiet. The sun peeks through into the library. That silence is soon broken as a car can be heard roaring to a stop in front of the library and being turned off. Eve Mas exits the car and makes her way up the stairs wanting to get this over with.

Trask is inside going through paperwork, and filling out reports for the boss. He's in his normal winter gear, which is becoming more and more approriate as the warm days turn cold.

As Eve enters the library she spots Trask and a faint smile crosses her lips. "Hey there" she says softly and then quickly walks up to Trask. "I need to find Helena, do you know where she is?"

Trask shakes his head slightly, "She's out…not sure where…cleaning up some messes. It's good to see you.

Eve smiles softly and she sinks into a chair beside Trask, "It's good to see you too. Missed you lately" Eve looks across the room and adds, "Since she isn't here, I'm guessing you will have to let her know. I'm leaving Phoenix" Eve says this in a casual tone.

Trask blinks softly, and looks over at you. "I didn't really peg you for the Pariah type….I…Know it's been hard since Cameron left…but you can't give up Eve…

"Not giving up, just moving on, it's time Trask" Eve says softly and lays a hand on Trask's shoulder. "Not like you won't see me ever again"

Trask shakes his head. He looks away for a good long time. "I knew this was coming. I could see it for some time now…" He bites his lip, "Where are you going?"

"Ever since everything started changing I felt like I didn't have a place anymore among PARIAH" Eve admits and then looks down as Trask is silent. "To the Ferrymen, at least for the time being. Who knows what life has in store for me?" Eve runs a hand through her hair and then looks back at Trask, "I was already considering it when Noah Bennet came to talk to me first, I think out of prompting from Helena. But I am confident in my decision"

Eve has a small smile on her face as she looks up to one of the windows. "Be careful though, any of the times that I have met with Sylar, were of coincidence and while I did give him some information it wasn't just to share, I gave him tidbits that aren't useful to him and he gave me information that was useful to us. While he didn't know it" Eve closes her eyes and lays her head back. "I don't know if he will share anything with the rest of you guys, might be best to not interact with him" Eve shrugs and then tilts her head.

Trask looks at Eve, "You've been in contact with Sylar…by coincidence on multiple occasions? Does he live on your block or something?" He shakes his head. "Eve….you take care of yourself….I wish I could say something more…but I can't right now. Just stay safe." something catched in his voice, and there is no russian accent.

"It sounds fishy, but we do actually come to the same places to think. Weird" Eve looks down, "I've screwed up so much, I don't I can ever be forgiven for everything I have done, but it's good that I am leaving now" Eve stands and looks at

Trask before doing something she has /never/ done to Trask. She hugs him tight. "Take care of yourself big guy" she says softly

Trask takes a good, deep breath. As Eve turns to go, he stands, pushing back from the table, his chair making a nice deep scraping sound on the floor. He walks over to where she took a few steps away, and hugs her back, pulling the scarf down to give her a little kiss on the forehead. "You need anything….anything…"

Eve smiles softly and she looks like she is on the verge of tears but then the look quickly vanishes from Eve's face. "I'll let you know and you call me and come my Orchid Lounge sometime, I'm singing there" as Eve draws away and then looks back to Eve as she walks away, "I hope everyone can forgive me" and with that Eve is gone from the library.
