Belvedere Castle

Constructed from the same stone as the Vista Point which supports it, Belvedere Castle seems to rise out of the earth itself. The miniature Gothic castle is easily visible from a distance, courtesy of both its height and the American flag fluttering from the turret's pinnacle. Its windows overlook views of Turtle Pond, the Delacorte Theater, and the Great Lawn. The interior, however, is anything but Gothic; the halls on both floors are filled with telescopes, microscopes, paper-mache birds, skeletons, and feathers, all laid out as parts of an interactive exhibit. In the Henry Luce Nature Observatory, visitors can borrow binoculars, notepads, maps, and guidebooks with which to study the wildlife of the park.

The crescent moon is bright over the castle in Central Park. The wind blows strong gently tonight and there are shadows in the castle.

Quiet..

There is no sound, only an owl can be heard hooting in somewhere nearby. Some leaves rustle from the wind and blow across the stone floor. Not human sounds, they are sounds of nature.

It's getting a bit late, and it's typically not all that smart for a young woman to be walking alone through Central Park, but that's exactly what Zoey is doing. She'd run out to the store and, for whatever reason, decided to cut through the park on the way home. But then she'd seen the shadows in the castle. Her interest piqued, she began to walk in that direction. Calling the police never really occurred to her.

As Zoey nears the castle she will see something.. a figure.

It seems to glide past the window, nothing but a black hood can be seen. Nothing at all. Some night time animal flies past Zoey's path to the castle.

Is that? Yes it sounds like light footsteps in the castle itself.

Zoey continues approaching the castle, just a little nervous now. She didn't think the place would be open at night and a hooded person usually means trouble. Come to think of it, why is she doing this again? Ah, the invincibility of youth, I suppose.

When the young woman enters the castle, nothing can be seen clearly. The moon shines through the windows and illuminates some of the room but.. there is something moving in that corner over there. A rustle of a dress can be heard.

"Story time.." a voice calls out, a woman's voice.

Zoey spins towards the voice, "Who's there?" She's obviously frightened, but is in too deep now to run. Her hand moves towards her purse, fumbling for her cellphone but unable to find it.

The shadowed figure can be seen as swaying. Midnight dark hair can be seen from under the hood. It is definitely a woman. "The old man.. he tells you the story." Says the woman, her voice soft and it carries like the wind to Zoey's ears.

A moment goes by of silence. "Who.. are /you/?" the question is returned to Zoey and finally the shadow figure reveals herself. The first thing that is seen is a dark crimson dress that fits well on the woman's figure. Her hood is still on her head as she looks down and speaks.

"Watch out.. for the rusted cage." A clear warning, at least in the seer's eyes.

Zoey stumbles back from the woman a bit, "I-I saw shadows. So I came to see?" She blinks at the rusted cage comment, "What are you doing here? T-the castle is closed.."

Zoey's questions are irrelevant for the moment. "The shadows kill." The woman in red says blankly and then begins to hum a song. The tune is haunting and creepy to listen too while in the dark night.

"Why are any of us here?" the question is posed and the woman finally lifts her head, the hood falls back with a soft rustling and her hair tumbles free around her.

But the thing that will immediately and probably hold her attention is the woman's eyes, they are /white/. The whole eye, a soft milk white color, the woman's eyes are wide and she is looking or not looking directly at Zoey.

Zoey's eyes go wide when she sees the woman's milky eyes. She stumbles backwards and hits a wall, hand reaching to her side to try and find where the door was. Her eyes remain locked on the other woman's face. Her skin pales, and she looks like she's seen a ghost. In fact, that's what she thinks this spooky woman is, "A-are you going to kill me?" Her voice is whispered, the terror making it hard for her to speak.

"No." A clear answer and Eve walks closer to Zoey, but not close enough to be touched or grabbed by the woman. "But /he/ will." Eve's eyes drop again before they rise to the ceiling her heels click on the stone floor.

"When the Russian comes.. then you'll know." Eve tilts her head at Zoey. "Watch for it.. careful. Live through it." Eve closes her eyes and begins to back away. Towards another exit of the room.

Zoey blinks a few times, "R-russian? What do you mean?" She takes a step forward, chewing her lip, "Damn it, stop trying to scare me! J-just tell me what you're doing here!"
Her eyes snap open and Eve's mouth hangs open.. then closes.. and opens. "Why my dear, I am warning you of your death." Eve let's these words sink in as she continues to back away to the door. "And of his." The shadows or the Russian man?

Why do fortunetellers have to be so confusing? Well, ok, this isn't exactly a fortuneteller, but it's close enough. Zoey turns towards the door she entered from. It's probably a good time to get out of here. Creepy woman telling her about her death? Definitely not high up there one her list of recommended activities.

Zoey is given one more glance and with a slam of the door and the sound of her dress moving, Eve has left the castle. Her heels can be heard while she is not seen. Soon.. even the sound of footsteps fade.

Zoey dashes back out her own door, back into the park itself. She's wearing heals, so her run isn't exactly the fastest sprint, but all she wants is to put some distance between herself and the weird woman.
