Suspected Mobster Arrested

QUEENS — Police arrested suspected mobster Franco Civella Wednesday night on suspicion of involvement in the attempted murder of MacKenzie Myers, 29, of Brooklyn, who was hospitalized after being shot during a failed assassination attempt by known criminals at Erica's Coffee Shop in Queens.

Civella, known to be at the head of one of New York City's largest remaining crime syndicates, was arrested after an investigation team had managed to gather meaningful evidence linking him directly with involvement to the attempted murder of Myers in August. Although authorities have not released a motive for Civella's actions, it has been speculated by the media for some weeks that Myers was in possession of incriminating information against the suspect at the time of the shooting.

Police Commissioner Karen Lau declined to comment.
