Job wise, she is the CIO of Raytech, which keeps her busier then she cares to admit, thanks to a slightly tech-breaking boss.

Background

Also known as D.Crypt, Alia went from a part time techie for the New York Library system, to someone working for Adam Monroe, to a well meaning civil disobedient. Along the way, she's robbed the Linderman Group, helped steal a space shuttle, been imprisoned outside of her body twice, and has had to face a very hostile AI built around an understanding of her powers while disabling a nuke.

Psych Profile

While Alia is one to care deeply about those she allows close, she is not easy to get close to: the fact she has a shortness to her words from disability, not personality, is sometimes a barrier. Other times it's the fact that she's also quite blunt.

Evolved Ability

Alia's ability is best summarized as follows: Without leaving her body, she has a 40 meter reach, and can communicate with almost any digital equipment type. She also, by some quirk of her ability, largely ingores all but the most advanced encryption schemas. If she leaves her body she can send her conicousness along the network paths from one device to another, but this comes with the risks of getting split from her body, a thing that she's already had happen twice, and has no real want to repeat.

Alia's ability has apparently branched into touch range, recieve but not send, telepathy. Requires skin to skin contact. And for those knowing Alia, you can all guess she's not exactly finding this a blessing per se (What can I say, I like my character's suffering sometimes. (The first few times she uses it she's likely going to wonder where the hell the faint whispers are coming from.):
Touch-reading: No Effort: Surface thoughts are read. If touching multiple people, she has no idea who is thinking what without context clues from the thoughts themselves. This takes about 15 seconds if she can focus purely on it, the apparent 'volume' of the thoughts reaching a quiet whisper, with the volume continuing to get louder up until 30 seconds around the 'volume' of a hushed conversation. This is closer to 'detect thoughts', not requiring consent per se, though it would likely make it faster and easier.
Ah, Silence: Some Effort: turning the ability OFF, requires a mild amount of effort, much to Alia's great annoyance. Notably, she is NOT capable of doing this _and_ going full ghost in the shell at the same time: So long as she's not cut off from her body, intruding thoughts from those touching her are going to be either outside distraction, or confusion. The effort takes the form of both feeling more exhausted then normally would, and after an hour, the starts of a nasty migrane as the ability slams back on with little grace, though this may improve with time and experience. This time frame drops by half if she's _also_ doing something mentally fautiguing, such as heavy researching/reading, trying to decypher Warren-speak, or a fiendishly difficult Tokyo Times sudoku, or using her primary ability in it's less dramatic aspects (and, in fact, she is finding that if she's supressing _this_ facet of her ability, her main ability gets cut down to a reach best measured in feet instead of yards, and at about a quarter of her normal efficency.) The time frame drops to a third if she's doing something physically demanding: attempting tricks on her skateboard, sword fighting, heavy running, all qualify. These are multiplicitive to one another, so if she's needing to both think hard _and_ fight, the time frame is likely down to one sixth of normal before the migrane kicks in.

Alia is a competitive field fencer. Adam Monroe has once asked why she wasn't competing in the olympics.
Alia suffers from Expressive Language Disorder: She has a very difficult time taking what she 'sees' in her head and putting it into words. She isn't slow, she just has a hard time communicating via words.
Alia does not have a driver's license, but -does- now have her pilot's license. Proof that the world is a crazy place.
