Ace is possessed of a form of aggressive phasing where he can make his form intangible and cease to be impacted by the physical laws of three-dimensional space. When slipping fully into intangibility, Ace can remove himself entirely from view but still be perceived by mental or emotional radars. While phased, there is additionally a slight shift in barometric pressure in the negative space where Ace would exist, and should his form move through an electronic, it may become disrupted and flicker. When Ace returns to tangibility, the sudden expansion of his form into being violently displaces other matter around where he reforms. This can result in objects or persons being injured by Ace suddenly manifesting into them.

Ace can safely phase carriable items with him, but has never been able to phase another living being with him. The act of phasing becomes tiring, with focus and energy required to shift himself back into three-dimensional space. Though he has honed use of his ability before and during the Civil War, should Ace spend more than 30 consecutive minutes a day phased, he may not have the energy to return to a tangible form and be stuck in that state. Additionally, he himself has never experienced this, but another him was effectively prevented from using his phasing when burdened with incredibly dense objects that were fixed to his person, increasing the effort required to become intangible to impossible levels.

Should Ace become tangible again after extensive use of his ability, he experiences a range of side effects from his sense of touch becoming painfully heightened to extreme nerve pain.
