Background

Nadira grew up on an archaeological dig site in Egypt. She learned to control her abilities under the spying eyes of friends, learned smuggling, and learned to tend a bar under the watchful eye of her father figure who she called Gidd. When she refused to use her ability to kill someone within her smuggling group, she fled to New York City.

Finding work at a bar, Nadira soon found herself fitting in. It took awhile, but she settled into life in New York City. Eventually, she met a man named Griffin Mihangle and his young son Owain. She formed a bond with the man over time and eventually agreed to be his wife. In 2011, a pregnant Nadira found herself among those rounded up to Eltingville, along with Griffin’s son Owain. But Griffin had other plans for his family. While her husband-to-be wouldn’t tell her what he was doing, he did tell her his actions were not heroic, but they would save Nadira and the children. On November 8th, 2011, she gave birth to her daughter whom she nicknamed Jori. %r%rBy the next year, Griffin’s words rang true. Just as a civil war was starting, Nadira found herself and the two kids whisked away across the country to Devil’s Lake, North Dakota. She and Griffin got married while things were calm. They were in the midst of a war but the area was relatively safe. Nadira kept a close eye on their surroundings, a bit more so than normal because she was now a mother. There was a close call or two but for the most part they had their own little bubble of safety from the war. But not all was perfect.

In 2015, Griffin died, his past having caught up with him. Nadira was left with a teenager and a little girl to raise on her own. For the next two years she spent simply raising her kids and doing her best not to go stir crazy. In 2017, her stepson Owain was accepted to Brooklyn College. It provided the perfect opportunity for her to move back to New York City. So in the summer of 2017 she took the opportunity to pack up and head back to what she now considered her home. Not content to settle, Nadira used some of the funds Griffin had stashed away and the money from the sale of their old house to purchase a nightclub which she dubbed La Mer with an aquatic theme.

Psych Profile

Nadira is primarily a social creature. She dislikes being alone for too long, enjoys socialization and contact with new people, and entirely enjoys being the center of attention. Be it her looks, her humor, or her charm, she thrives as the life of the party and is genuinely fun because of it. While she likes the attention, partying it up, and showing off, Nadira is genuinely compassionate. While Nadira doesn't particularly have an anger problem, she's explosive when she does get angry. It takes quite a bit to warm her up, but she's a firecracker when she's mad. Nadira is almost OCD about having something to write with. She's filled hundreds of little books of journals, random writing, and sketches.

Over the years, Nadira’s mellowed out. She’s grown into the role of mother, and a devoted one at that. She gives her kids space when they need it and support at other times. While she loves to be part of the crowd and having fun, she no longer craves being the center of attention… but she does love the attention even still. She’s mellower when it comes to situations she should be angry in. She keeps a cool head and tends now to be much more zen. Even still, there’s a sharp wit to her and some of her old energetic and playful self hides just below the motherly surface.

Evolved Ability

Nadira's Evolved ability is Hydrokinesis, control over water. At the most basic level, Nadira is hyper-aware of water and its locations. She's very adept at determining the nearest large body of water, and when focused, can even locate smaller amounts of water if necessary. This is usually used to find a source to draw on when she needs to use her abilities. Upon locating a source of water, Nadira is then able to draw it forth, so long as there is a potential way of escape. There is usually a way around water escaping from somewhere, such as a pipe or a water bottle, by increasing the pressure in the water so that it can burst out. She can sense a source of water that's within 30 feet of her current location.

Once Nadira has a water supply, she's able to control the water. It moves at her command, and in the directions she chooses. With her ability, she can cause water to have a cohesive form. While this does not change the form of water nor make it solid, she can force the water to stay in a particular location and keep a particular shape. While a few gallons of water staying in a cohesive form would be no problem, more water than a bathtub could hold is probably pushing her strength. Should she attempt to control more water than normal and her ability gives out on her, all water will no longer have any control on it and will immediately lose form or drop. Water within 30 feet of her location is available for Nadira's control.

One particular aspect about drawing water out from a source is that once Nadira has located a source, no matter how strong, she can separate the water from it. For example, if there were a glass of water with red food coloring in it, she could successfully extract the water from the food coloring and leave the coloring still in the glass. This can serve as an attempt to purify water as well, as she can only control pure water. While this may be useful, it also means that any liquid she attempts to control will only have the actual water from it travel under her control. To transport a liquid, Nadira is unable to transfer the whole thing under her control, but merely the water. To attempt to separate the water from a substance takes longer depending on how complex the water supply is—Nadira has had the most practice on salt water and can pull water from that almost instantly. More complicated solutions take longer and more concentration, though practice has sped up this process.
