His ability has been assumed to be some form of Clairvoyance, through photographs that he takes and develops himself (non-digital only). The original prints change based on the current status of the subjects. Only living things in the photograph change, not anything non-living in it, including clothing and buildings and objects. Animals and plants may move slightly, but don't seem to as much as the people in them. For people, updates include haircut changes and physical injuries. Clothing moves with the person, as well as any objects they are holding, but they don't move independently on their own. The people never walk out of the picture either.

The images move when no one seems to be looking at them, but are stationary when someone is. They update the next time no one's looking at them.
