Profile

Warren Ray is one of the CEOs of Raytech Industries. He is the head of their R&D division and does a lot of mad projects. In another lifetime, he was the spree killer known as Mortimer Alex Jack, before his brain was severely reconfigured by Rene, like twice. A lot of the work done by Rene and later Kaylee was undone by a catastrophic overlay with many other versions of himself during the Looking Glass incident on Christmas of 2018, but he still remains a fundamentally different person from who he used to be, trying to be better even if still insanely eccentric. He truly takes after his father in many ways, but that also means he deeply cares for his family. Who knows what he'll become in the aftermath of everything he's experienced, all he knows is that he wants to repair the world and put all the cogs into their rightful place in the machine.

Mechanical Intuition

Warren's first ability is Mechanical Intuition, it allows him to understand the inner workings and use of machines, and to build them without prior knowledge or study of the particular machine. His eyes, not just the irises, but his eyes entirely turn a silver color when he's using his intuition. Almost on instinct it allows him to drive cars or ride motorcycles at the level of an experienced driver, or use a gun and even disarm a bomb. However, he's unable to use this ability with things that require software, since software itself is not mechanical, so he couldn't build a computer or anything from scratch unless he actually learned how to program (Which he hasn't, and honestly wouldn't have the patience for).

Again, while building, he has to be inspired, either by seeing parts or getting an idea, which will prompt him to look for parts. He can be crippled by inspiration, often losing all interest in whatever he happened to be doing, then trying to get out of the situation so he can go look for parts. His ability triggers a form of brief psychotic disorder due to causing chemical imbalances in the brain, and his frequent use of his ability over the years has brought him to the point where he is now. He's more or less stabilized with his imbalance, so it doesn't really get any worse than it already is, but it's already pretty damned bad. When his power is turned off, his brief psychotic disorder generally ends, but under extreme stress it can last even when he's not using his ability, or be triggered without it at all. It can be controlled with medication, as his mother has completely conquered the illness. He's still pretty unhinged even without his disorder in full swing, it mostly just makes him hallucinate, become a lot more violent and impulsive, and a small host of other not-good-things.

When he's hallucinating, he'll see a person based on his opinion of them. He often sees business men as suits without bodies, because he believes them to be lifeless, or if he focuses primarily on someone having a huge nose, he might see their entire head as the nose. His hallucinations often become a lot worse than that if he becomes very unstable or something just really freaks him out, like visualizing a giant squid on a building, or the streets covered in vicious man-eating bugs. A person could easily exploit his hallucinations if they actually knew about them, which could be as easy as the old trick of pointing and saying 'Look there's—!" and he'll very likely see it, even if it isn't there. He takes his hallucinations very seriously, and he sees it as "true sight", the true version of reality that other people can't see. He doesn't usually build anything too massively destructive or even beneficial, he just builds things that seem like they'll make life more "fun", which may or may not include a large highly inaccurate automatic.

Probability Prediction

Warren has a form of uncontrolled hyper cognition that allows him to, over the course of many years, begin to understand specific areas of hyperfocus on an incredibly intuitive level. Many years of deeply analyzing his surroundings, people, tactical planning, and deconstructing the numerous branches of alternate universe Warren memories messily imprinted onto his mind has caused him to develop a form of probability prediction. He can predict the outcome of numerous events based on considering the variables of things immediately within his eyesight.

Immediate Prediction	Low	Immediate predictions involve calculating the variables of whatever is around him on the fly. This allows for simple causal chains, having a basic idea of relatively simple outcomes such as the probability of a car accident based on how vehicles are moving, or the direction a gun is likely to be fired in, and what it's likely to hit. He can immediately estimate things up to around five minutes, with approximately five chained events.	Self Taught
Strategic Prediction	Moderate	Strategic prediction involves a concentrated observation of his surroundings. He cannot be actively fighting or doing anything else of particular complexity. It allows him to plan out complex causal chains of events, more accurately predict the movements and actions of people, and predict far more specific outcomes of many complex things around him at once. This is approximately a maximum thirty minutes worth of prediction, with around ten chained events.	Self Taught
Personality Prediction	Moderate	Under normal circumstances he can make an estimate of people's basic physical actions under immediate or strategic prediction, mostly based on little things like predictable micro actions he's seen over and over. However, if he properly knows a person very well, such as someone he's extensively studied or a friend, taking in the variables of their personality, the things they say, and pretty much whatever information he has available, he can make an estimate of what they'll actually do for approximately the next five minutes or so, depending on variables. Obviously overt use of this requires discussion with PCs or GMs beforehand, and is down to consent. He most commonly uses this to determine if what he's going to do or say is entirely out of line, but that doesn't always work out. His predictions can be rather spotty, given Warren's often unpredictable mind and the high variables involved in human behavior.	Self Taught
Probability Transcription	High	Transcribing a prediction takes an extraordinary amount of effort. It requires more than simply explaining word for word, it has to be expressed in a way that makes sense to Warren's conscious mind. A prediction might be expressed through some kind of ridiculous puzzle, extended and strange written riddles, a highly symbolic fairytale, or many other forms of creative expression.	Self Taught
Long Term Predictions	High	Long term predictions require spending days, weeks, or even months calculating variables, taking in various people's actions, looking through actual clues, etc. Essentially, with what is functionally a full scale investigation, he can make a larger, potentially more far reaching prediction. Warren is not an expert at investigation, and has a bit of an addled brain, so this ability requires the aid of actual investigators or people experienced at it, people to help him keep clues arranged and organized. He then has to reach an epiphany of what these things mean, which is expressed to others through Probability Transcription. Long term predictions are virtually impossible for him to do on his own, they involve predicting a nearly impossible to predict outcome, such as the outcome of a person or group's actions based on evidence (which may leave one perpetually behind said person or group as the investigation is ongoing), predicting a future murder based on the evidence of a previous murder, or even something like a catastrophic power grid failure or explosion. As long as the prediction is evidence based and he has help to figure things out, otherwise they can just be rather esoteric clues that he quickly forgets about if people don't help. Vulnerabilities
Mental Chaos	Warren's mind is full of a lot of garbage information. Even though he intuitively understands absorbing and putting together variables, he consciously has difficulty putting these things into words due to much of what he's thinking and experiencing when using his ability not easily translating into language. That and attempting to consciously translate his predictions into dialogue means his ability has to filter through his more chaotic conscious thoughts that tend to muddy up his ability to clearly explain them. He may speak or act in a rather eccentric way in an attempt to convey his point to the best of his ability.
Poor Memory	His memory is incredibly poor and unreliable. If he doesn't transcribe a more long term prediction in some way, it will get incredibly muddy and clouded by his often chaotic and fractured thoughts. He may remember bits and pieces, or in random spurts, but long term predictions need to be written out or expressed in some form beyond his own memory, even if it might be a strange and esoteric form.
Estimation	His predictions are, at the end of the day, intuitive calculations and estimates. They can be incredibly and consistently accurate, but there will often be wrong, unclear, and outright miscalculated details. The more data he has, the better, but one can never quite have enough data.
