Wilhelmina Zelda Falkenrath was born at noon on Tuesday, the 21st of April, 1985, to Alard and Tonja Falkenrath, in Southend-On-Sea. Alard was a doctor at the local hospital, and Tonja was a lawyer, and both of them were out of the home often, leaving much of the raising of the three children to a hired nanny. The youngest of three children, Wilhelmina (Zelda to her friends) always led a rather charmed existence on paper, though her childhood wasn't without its own issues; her oldest brother had troubles with his mental health, and these problems often had lasting effects on the family as a whole.
To distract from the troubles with her brother, Wilhelmina threw herself into her studies, spending as much time on her schoolwork as possible to keep herself away from the troubles with her brother, who could get outright violent in his worst moments. She also got quite heavily into competitive archery, becoming a pretty steady shot with a bow and arrow. This also lead her to a love of nature — and the fact that going camping also got her away from her depressing home life.
In 2003, Zelda's hard work at school paid off, and she was accepted into Oxford; there, she chose to follow in her mother's footsteps, and went into law. She was 22 when the bomb hit in New York; being all the way across the pond, she paid it little mind, brushing it off as some stupid American terrorist attack. When the existence of the Evolved happened, she was interested, but with nobody she knew being Evolved, it was just…another thing that was part of the world. When the DEH was established in late 2007, she voluntarily went in for testing — she discovered that she was Evolved, though unmanifested. From there, it simply became something that she was, always at the back of her mind but never really presented itself. She was just happy to be able to complete her schooling at Oxford in peace, avoiding political involvements in favor of getting the best grades possible.
And that she did; in 2009, after six years of throwing herself into her studies, she graduated, earning a first class degree in law. Shortly after, she accepted a job with her mother's law firm, quietly settling into her role and enjoying the status that comes with working at your parent's established and successful company. For the next nine years, she remained, establishing herself as a rather successful lawyer, in no small part due to her deep devotion to exploring every option she could think of in each case.
However, even with frequent excursions out into the wilds of Europe, it didn't take too long for her to become restless, and she began looking around at other options — she didn't want to remain in Southend for the rest of her life, after all, and while she was good at her job, she found law to be a bit too…stressful for her tastes. After reading an article about Yamagato's efforts in the Safe Zone, Zelda started looking into the company. Following a random urge to completely change her entire life, she applied for an available position in the Safe Zone in early 2018 — and she was pleasantly surprised when she actually got the job.
After plenty of preparation and planning, Zelda has come to the Safe Zone, completely out of her comfort zone, with high hopes of having a better life than the successful (yet stifling) one she had in Southend-On-Sea.
It's better than being in a place where she's not allowed to reproduce without special permissions — and the constant fear of manifesting an ability that could possibly cause her to be Relocated.
