Just before dawn this morning, a tugboat operator on the Hudson river reported the discovery of a body washed up on the shores of Governor's Island just south of Manhattan. Authorities later found and identified the body as Ling Chao, 32, of Manhattan. Forensic investigators determined the cause of death to be a single gunshot wound, though evidence of a second delivered post-mortem was also observed.
Chao, a former employee of the troubled Linderman Group owned night club Rapture, had been unemployed for several months and was one of several individuals being pursued in an ongoing ATF investigation regarding distribution of the illicit narcotic Refrain.
Sources within the Department of Homeland Security also state that Chao had been under suspicion for possible involvement with the Pro-Evolved terrorist group Messiah after the discovery of Rupert Carmichael's manifesto just last month.
Chao's family, living overseas in China, was unavailable for comment.
