St. Luke's Hospital

St. Luke's Hospital is known for its high-quality care and its contributions to medical research. Its staff place an emphasis on compassion for and sensitivity to the needs of their patients and the communities they serve. In addition to nearby Columbia University, the hospital collaborates with several community groups, churches, and programs at local high schools. The associated Roosevelt Hospital offers a special wing of rooms and suites with more amenities than the standard hospital environment; they wouldn't seem out of place in a top-rated hotel. That said, a hospital is a hospital — every corridor and room still smells faintly of antiseptic.

Adam scheduled to meet with Jet sometime in the early evening. He's standing somewhere near the lobby. He waits quietly with folders in his hand. He's leaned against a wall quietly, out of the sight of a camera, but in view of others who might be milling about.

And Jet is punctual, walking in with a cup of coffee-to-go in her hands as she sips at the sweet aroma. A nod of her head to Adam as she watches him, just starring at him in a non casual way before she flashes him a grin. "It's like picking out a puppy, but hopefully I won't pee on your leg. But you may be into that." Another sip of her coffee, then a light swallow of the contents, "Found the files?"

Adam considers a moment as Jet approaches him and hmms. He ignores the comment about the puppy or the peeing, instead he says, "I have some candidates." he pushes from the wall evenly and opens the first folder and makes his way to the elevator, "Come on then."

"Sometimes I don't think you like me very much Adam." A faint smile from her at this as she follows after him towards the elevator, a stiffled wave of emotion as she chucks the cup of coffee into the can. "I would think for being as old as you are, you'd develop a light sense of humor." Fingers unzip her hoodie, tugging it off and tying it about her waist as she walks, keeping her voice low enough so just he can hear her.

Adam considers then as he steps into the elevator. "I wouldn't say I don't like you." he says, "I like you fine. I suppose I'm just still uncertain on where you stand on things." he pauses as the elevator opens and he makes his way towards a room, "Amanda Terrence." he says as he makes his way into a room, "Car accident five years ago. Been in a coma since then, no brain waves. Permanent vegetable." he pauses, "Here she is."

Jet follows behind Adam into the room, standing at the foot of the bed as a faint smile comes to her lips. "Car accident. That's how I died. Except the driver was drunk. But we were all drunk." Fingers to her neck as she scratches at her skin, "No. Not her." That said her attention turns back towards Adam. "I told you. I'm yours. I don't know how you want me to prove that to you exactly."

Adam mms a bit as he closes a folder, "Trust comes from more than words. It comes from time and action." he says. He frowns, "Alright, let's find the next one." and he steps out of the room on the way down the hall.

Jet gives an eyeroll to his words as she turns and follows after Adam, "I've done all the tasks you've asked me to do. You would not let me throw Len off of a bridge, that was your fault he's still around to be a pain." Her hands stuff into her pockets at this, "Do you want me to do something that will cause a full blown panic. An act of cruelty upon myself that will leave a bloody mess?"

Adam arches a brow, "No, I want you to be patient. Impatience causes doubt, it makes people sloppy. If it's meant to be, then it will happen. You can force it." he steps into the next room, "Leslie Johnson." he pauses at the foot of her bed, "Stroke." he tsks, "So young…two years ago…same prognosis."

Jet gives a sound from her throat to Adam's words, the fiftyish year old almost seem to be sulking as she drags along behind him. Upon seeing Leslie, the possessor just stares for a long time at the female in the hospital bed, watching the still body. "I just don't understand why you won't let me be me sometimes. It's very frustrating. This is why I never works for someone exclusively before. I'm letting you control too much of me. It's not right."

Adam tilts his head, "I don't understand how I'm not letting you be you."

Jet gives a dismissive wave of her have as she looks towards Adam, "Next body? We'll keep this one in mind, help me pick one out though. Blonde perferably. Haven't had a natural blonde in a long time." A flash of a grin to Adam at this, "Oh, I'm also horrible at conversation. I possessed a mute person once, was the most peaceful time in my life. Except I did not know sign language. Had to write everything out. It sucked."

Adam pauses as she looks over the folders again, "Blonde…blonde.." he's quiet for some moments as he looks through things and says, "Alright." he says, "Christine Malkin." he makes his way out of the room, "So, when you possess them, you are limited by their own handicaps." he lets out a bit of a sound and then makes his way into a room that's almost directly across the hall, "Here she is. Unknown prognosis."

"Sorry I'm not all you expected," come her murmured words, more to herself than Adam, an inspection of her fingernails as she picks out dirt that isn't really there. And then there is Christine, Jet hardly even giving a glance to her before speaking, "She's fine. Nice name at least. When I do this, this body will come alert, and more often than not there is serious screaming. Deal with it how you must."

Adam frowns, "I wasn't commenting on your shortcomings, I was trying to get a fuller understanding of your power. Why the sudden self esteem issues?" he questions, "I'm doing this for you. Because this is what you wanted. A body with no strings attached, no worry about the harm you're doing to the person you push aside. I wouldn't do this if I didn't like you, at least not for free. I wouldn't do this if I didn't think you were worth the effort."

Jet gives one of those waves with her hands, "It's a girl thing. You get to be yourself, I have to be many people. It's stressful at times, tis all. It'll pass. I'll stop, I'm rambling." Side by side she moves to Adam now, her arm just lacing through his own, "See. I don't know what you want. You won't say and you're hard to read. I'm flipping through personalities until I find one you like." A beat as she looks more at the body, "This is what I want. I simply wish I did not care to much about the bodies I took, you know?"

Adam tilts his head to the left a moment before he says, "It's not wrong that you don't care about the bodies." he says, "I understand the problem. But there do come times when it's you or them. It's at that point that you have to push it down and just accept it." he glances back in Jet's direction, "You're sure this is the girl you want?"

Jet gives a shrug of her shoulders, "If not I'll leave her and find another," come her soft words. "We better do this before I chicken out, hmm?" Teeth bite at her bottom lip for a moment as she gives a grin to Adam at this. "By the way, do you have anything for me to do? I'm getting bored again. Also, remeber, if I don't awaken, shoot her. Kill her. Then save yourself."

Adam considers this for a moment and then nods. He opens in jacket and pulls out a taser. "Put down this body first though, yeah?" he pauses and glances in Jet's direction, "It really is for the best, given your situation. Let's see what happens."

Jet perks a brow at the taser as she stares at it for a long moment before looking back up at Adam. "Just be sure it's not me you're tasering hmm? I've managed to escape pain for the most part. Save for that dart in my neck. Kinda hurt. Stupid Moab." Anyway. Over to the body she moves, knuckles cracking as she begins to empty her pockets. Her apartment keys, yes keys are handed over to Adam before she flexes her fingers. "I hate life." And then her bare hands are cupping the face of the still female.

The next moment the body Jet was using is staggering backwards, a gait unlike Jet's.

For now the body on the mattress lays still, before the eyes just open suddenly and blue orbs are starring upwards at the hospital ceiling. It really is quite instantaneous.

Adam is paused for only a moment as he glances at the girl staggering back. Once the eyes open on the girl on the bed, he turns to the girl who appears to be regaining consciousness, he shoots her with the taser. After a moment of tasering, he makes a perfunctory move to make sure she doesn't hurt herself, then turns to the girl on the bed, "So…how are you?"

"Huh…" come her soft words in a different voice, hoarse though, "You actually made sure she didn't hurt herself." those blue eyes shift to Adam now, watching him for a long time before she slowly begins to sit up. "I have to pee," come her hoarse words, "But other than that fine. Stiff. Very stiff. And thirsty. When I remove these cords it will alert the nurses. What's the game plan my love, let them know I'm awake, or sneak out?"

Adam shrugs a moment, "Didn't want you to get guilty about a girl hurting herself." he pauses a moment, "We can turn off the alarm of the machine, that's what draws the nurses." he pauses and starts flipping switches. "Your muscles are likely weak, so we'll need a wheelchair. I'll be right back." he makes his way out of the room and comes back with a wheelchair a few moments later.

Jet is smelling her forearm when Adam comes back with the wheelchair, perhaps seeing just how offensive her scent is. "I could use a bath I fear," she speaks before clearing her voice, raking her fingers lightly through her hair in an attempt to combe the blonde locks. "Would you think any less of me, if I told you I did not want to feel guilt anymore?" The sheets are pushed off of her slowly now, legs working their way over the edge of the bed.

Adam frowns at the question as he reaches forward and helps Jet into the chair, "It's really hard not to feel guilt." he says in response, "The best you can do is usually just to be able to push it down and deal with it and not let yourself get mired down by it." He picks up the other girl and puts her in the bed before putting the cover over her, "That should keep them occupied until we're well away." and then starts pushing the wheelchair out of the room and down to the elevator.

"I don't know," come her soft words as she lets Adam help her into the chair, though her skin is blushing red from being needy like this. "I don't think Humanis First really feels guilt over the Evolved they kill. So I think it is possible. Not to feel guilt. As need be." And then Adam is pushing her, Jet shifting a bit as she seems to be sulking.
