Eleanor Victoria Stone was born on a rainy afternoon in London, England. She was raised there, along with her twin brother, until she was 16, when the Stone family moved to the States. Her parents were having trouble finding jobs that paid enough to support two children in school, and hoped that America would give them more opportunities.
Her childhood was rather idyllic. With loving parents that worked hard to provide her and her brother a good life, she thrived at her private school and was at the top of her classes. She and her twin were incredibly close, and she had several other good friends throughout her time in London.
The move to New York City was rough on Eleanor. She fought it violently at first, refusing to speak to her parents for several weeks following the news of the move. It took her months to adjust to the different culture, the different people, the different weather. Finally, though, she did adjust, and grew to love her new home.
When she turned 18, she was accepted to Columbia University, and majored in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. She flourished there, having already decided that she wanted to be a therapist. It was thrilling for her to be on the path to her dream, and she became the person everyone in class went to for advice.
After graduating, Eleanor immediately went to graduate school to get her social work degree. Again, she was at the top of her class, and she was close enough to her dream to be able to taste it. Her teachers called her a visionary, and she was chosen to give a speech at graduation.
It was then that the bomb happened. Eleanor, like many others, was devasted - her parents perished in the bomb, though she and her twin survived. She was one of the many at ground zero, volunteering to do anything she could to help. When the presence of the Evolved was announced, Eleanor was shocked - and even more shocked when her twin told her he had the ability of photokinesis. Given time, though, she accepted this as part of her brother, and these days, doesn't blink an eye at mention of Evolved. She has several Evolved clients and sees them as people, not freaks.
Eleanor believes all Evolved should be registered, for the good of the city - having such powerful people roaming the city would just be too dangerous. However, Eleanor is very involved in Evolved rights, keeping track of the news in that area. She read everything she could get her hands on about PARIAH, and after its downfall, PHOENIX. She is sympathetic to these freedom fighters and doesn't see them as terroists, merely people fighting for their rights and the rights of others.
Once she'd obtained her degree, she immediately began setting up her private practice. This was when the Company contacted her. Apparently they'd been keeping an eye on her since her rise in her classes and waited until she graduated to propose that she work for them. Eleanor compromised, offering to work for the Company part-time and work at her private practice the rest of the time.
