Grantham Carter was born to a pair of factory workers in the south. They didn't have a lot of money, but they were at least able to afford all the necessities of life. He was a quiet child for the most part, though he was drawn to music.
He didn't have a lot of friends, preferring to spend time on his own. In the playgrounds, he always spent his time along, away from the other children. Sure, there were a few that he'd talk to, but not that many. He was just the type of kid that liked to be alone.
As he grew, that never changed. His love for music and his preference for being left alone were what people knew him for. Along with music, though, came his love of numbers. He excelled in the ars mathematica from the beginning.
He chose to go to college, heading towards one of the local schools. The chosen major? ACCOUNTING! What better for someone who likes to be alone and loves numbers? He got a good scholarship, due to his parents lack of income, and chose to head to another state, to get away from the family. Due to his scholarships, grants, and loans, he chose a college in New York. City University of New York - Queens Campus.
Shortly after his arrival, though, all the weirdness happened. The bomb, the evolved becoming common knowledge, and… his own abilities. It started lightly. He would occasionally hear radio stations when there was no radio around.
It really came to the fore when he was listening to his mp3 player, and one of his few friends came up to him. He told him about some new radio station playing. He pulled his headphone out and listened to the one his friend was using. He heard nothing. As he put his own mp3 player back into his other ear, he heard the exact same thing playing out of the radio. He knew something weird was going on.
Deciding to take it in his own time, he began testing and learning more about it. He knows what he is. He's read and studied on things. However, he doesn't believe in a lot of the current sitational things. He doesn't think he should have to register himself, because he prefers to keep his private life to himself. However, with the state of affairs, he's getting tired of just letting other people decide what's going to happen in his life.
He's struggling, trying to find a way to balance his school life and his desire to find out more about himself, right now. He's managing, and keeping his grades up, but he's getting to the point where he has to try to find friends. He's scared of what might happen if his abilities become known… and… he's not even sure what else he CAN do.
