Gwendolyn Samheera was born in London, England to a mixed race couple. Her mother was white, her father Indian by heritage but born and raised in England. His family had a difficult time accepting his wife, but when Gwendolyn was born, it seemed to be a bridge for the extended families on both sides. Gwendolyn was a precocious child, who showed an early aptitude for languages. By the time she was seven she was fully bi-lingual in Hindi as well as English. By the time she was twelve she additionally spoke several sub-dialects including Punjabi, Tamil, and Bengali. Entering secondary school, by the time she graduated sixth form, she had added French, German, Spanish and Italian to her language list. An ambitious girl, Gwendolyn looked to a future in translation, but her profile had been flagged by the British government. Upon entering the University of London, she was approached by MI-6 to train as one of their agents. Intrigued by the opportunity, she accepted.
Gwendolyn rose through the ranks at a steady, if somewhat speedy, pace. Having been athletic in school, the physical aspects of training were challenging and enjoyable, rather than a trial, and she turned out to be a rather handy shot with a firearm. The various ins and outs of espionage training were simply yet another language to her, only this one of actions rather than letters or characters. She was encouraged to further her language studies; Russian and Chinese were subsequently added to her considerable list of fluency.
Not long after the bomb went off in New York City and the Evolved were revealed to the world, Gwendolyn was placed on an assignment, she was instructed to aid in the capture or kill a newly rising voice of terror in the never-ending battle in Ireland; it had been discovered that Patrick Harper, an up and comer in the IRA was in fact Evolved, and using his ability to encourage violence in the region. He was a projective empath of incredible power, able to incite mass riots with the power of his thoughts. As it was a multi-branch operation, a unit of the SAS was assigned, and it was at this point that Gwen was introduced to the man who would become her husband, Hugh Wickham.
A big brute of a Scottsman with a family history dating back centuries in service to the Crown, towards the end of their assignment he'd asked if he might call on her after it was completed. His fellow servicemen had noticed his attraction and had set up a betting pool as to whether he'd ask her out. Shockingly, he did. Even more shockingly, she said yes. During the rounds of pomp and circumstance that were held as a result of their efforts in Ireland, Hugh and Gwen were frequently seen together, and one blustery day in mid-2007, the pair eloped to Scotland and got married.
Their success in taking down an Evolved international terrorist was noted in the intelligence community, and inevitably, the Company. When the offer came, the salaries posted were incredible enough that neither felt compelled to refuse, and not barely three months after they tied the not, Gwen and Hugh found themselves in New York, working for the Company. Bishop, taking advantage of Gwen's linguistics training, tapped one of the Evolved on their roster to 'tap' her brain and add a few more languages, and as a result, she's gained additional fluency in Arabic, Hebrew, and Mandarin. Though she consented to the procedure, the end result was not without some after-effect; Gwen is now subject to some pretty spectacular headaches which seem unalleviated by medication and are baffling to Company medical personnel.

Skills
Athletics
Part of Gwen's training has included a great deal of athletic skills. Running, climbing, swimming, she definitely has all the basics down, and in addition can also do things like parachuting, SCUBA, base jumping, line swinging, and any number of various 'thrill seeker' type and obstacle course style activities.
Combat
Gwendolyn is trained both hand-to-hand combat as well as in the use of firearms and melee weapons. Her focus in hand to hand combat is Krav Maga, and she can use a wide variety of melee weapons, including but not limited to: polearms, swords, daggers, blunt weapons, and is also capable of utilizing objects in her environment as makeshift weapons against her opponents. Her firearms training runs the gamut of sidearms up through semi-automatics, rifles, shotguns, machine guns, and even heavier weaponry such as bazookas. While Gwendolyn's not a crackshot, she is an excellent marskman, and is good enough to perform assassinations with various forms of weaponry, whether it's her hands, a garrotte, or a sniper rifle.
Espionage
Gwen was trained by MI-6 as a field rated agent. She understands the various aspects of espionage such as protocols, dead drops, utilizing handlers, infiltration, disguise, intelligence analysis, game theory, infiltration, and code usage.
Etiquette
Even beyond knowing which fork to use, Gwendolyn knows that manners matter. What's more, she's not only familiar with what's appropriate in traditional Western etiquette, but the etiquette of other cultures as well, primarily those whose languages she speaks.
Performance
Gwendolyn is an expert at improv and maintaining any persona she creates for the use of her work, using posture, creation of a background history, inflection, accent, and body language to utterly convince those around her that she is exactly who she says she is. She enjoys Hindu style dancing and music, as well as being able to enjoy herself on a dance floor doing Western dance, with or without a partner. She's definitely a fan of Bollywood.
Polyglot
Gwendolyn is a natural polyglot. She speaks Hindu and several of its sub-dialects (Punjab, Tamil, Bengali). During the course of school and through university she also learned French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, and Japanese. Through the utilization of Company resources, she's also learned Mandarin, Arabic, and Hebrew.
