Samantha and Benjamin Noyes were respected agents of The Company. Both Evolved, when they were blessed with Heather they automatically expected a child with abilities. They wouldn't be disappointed, even if it took time for the ability to manifest.
Heather's birth would take place not in a civilian hospital, but in a hospital run by The Company. For obvious reasons. Samantha had the power of pyrokenisis. Obviously, during the pain of childbirth it manifested itself quite a bit. Benjamin was by her side, using his cryokenisis to counter. In the end they had a beautiful baby girl to show for all of it.
Heather's initial childhoood was monitored closely. Allowed to go to a normal public school, she quickly made friends and was remarked by her teachers as "very outgoing and sociable". To try and keep her life as normal as possible, her parents kept their powers hidden from her, thus allowing her to have such young girl things as sleepovers. Everything seems to be going well for the Noyes'. But that would soon change.
Fast forward. It's the night before Heather's 14th birthday. Family dinner. And the family is discussing plans for the next day. What to do. Where to go. Heather keeps insisting she wants her birthday party at the NYC zoo. But her parent's, who are going to be chaperoning, don't approve as it's "too expensive". Standing up, Heather starts raising her voice with objections and getting all riled up. Finally, she throws her hands up in the air, about to give in to her parent's objections when there's a loud roar and suddenly the chandelier in the dining room sways and is sucked into a small vortex that lasts no more than a few seconds. Heather is now completely confused as to what just happened. Totally opposite is her parent's reactions which are overjoyed. "Sweetheart," Samantha says, stretching out her palm as her husband did the same, "your father and I need to show you something." That demonstration of power would completely change Heather's world forever.
The birthday party still went off without a hitch. Her parents even gave in and had the party held at the NYC zoo. Afterwards, they brought Heather to meet with members of The Company. Spending several weeks with them, Heather was subjected to a multitude of tests. Blood tests. Physical tests. Mental tests. All designed to help find out what the girl's power was. In the end, it was discovered that Heather possessed the power to create vortexes. Where they led would be the subject of extensive testing over the next few years.
Released back to her normal schooling, Heather spent her time after classes working with her parents and members of The Company training and testing her ability. She was allowed to be on her own on weekends though, so as to continue to hang out with her friends. During her training sessions though, she would be asked to create a vortex while researchers (chained to security railing) would drop objects and devices into the vortex. Items such as teddy bears and GPS locator beacons. None of these items were ever returned or located. Until one day, Heather was daydreaming about upcoming Spring Break in Miami, FL during her session. By now creating vortexes had become second nature to her. She could do it almost without thinking. Only this time, she was thinking of the beach. When the GPS transponder was tossed through, for a moment the monitoring station in the other room remained silent. But then…it started blinking and reporting coordinates. "Sir! The beacon is reporting on a beach in Florida. Near Miami." The pieces of the puzzle started to fall into place then.
Graduating high school, Heather applied for admission to Columbia University and was granted a full scholarship. (Nicely arranged by The Company) While she went to school, she remained in touch with her parents and members of The Company who, at the age of 19, made her an Agent-In-Training. She would always have to be paired up with two other agents until she was granted full agent privs.
When the bomb hit NYC, Heather was with friends on a beach in California celebrating her first college spring break. Hearing the news, she immediately called her parents who sometimes frequented the area affected by the blast. No answer. She immediately caught the next flight home, but was intercepted in Atlanta by Company agents. News was broken that both her parents had not survived the blast. Her house, with all it's memories…gone. At least her dorm room survived. It took months of grieving, but she soon managed to get back on her feet. Thanks partly to a financial donation by both The Company, and an anonymous party.
At the age of 21, Heather is still currently attending Columbia majoring in Psychology. She has already been on several missions with her assorted partners at The Company, and proved her worth over and over again. But she still has a way to go.
**The anonymous party that donated money to Heather is PARIAH. They received inside information about her ability and have been keeping a close eye on her. Perhaps sometime in the future they may try to sway her and recruit her from The Company.
