Kala mai ia'u - Excuse me
Who's that? Over there leaving against the tree? No not the squirrel but the other one. Yes, that one. Chewing the gum and just watching the window. - That would be Kase Williams: free runner, hired hitter and more officially a mechanic. What is she attaching to the tree? Ohhh, yeah, it seems to be ticking…see that little light flashing in the count down? Mmhm, forgot to mention. She…he…eh whatever really really really likes to play with explosives.
<Insert very large explosion here…very nice spray of tree bark and burnt leaves though…>
Aloha Kakahiaka - Good Morning
Kase Williams, somewhat tall…5'11, decent enough to be formidable in the right lighting yet deceptively harmless looking most of the time build…and a rather androgynous appearance was actually born Kassandra Elizabeth Williams. Finally, a girl! Her mother thought when they presented the baby in the pink blankie in her arms, however…this was not to be the Police Officer's little princess.
Rosie Marks kept her maiden name when she married Andrew Williams and had her 3 sons Andy, Lando and Bob with him. She was a police officer and he was a mechanic and a used car sales-man who used to be in the military back when he was young. (Andrew lost 2 fingers and an eye when he was a Marine…he has a medal somewhere) It was a decent marriage, the baby girl born was close to her mother when she was younger. But her aversion to girly things made it hard for the mother to live her fantasy out and then when her brothers started accepting her as one of the boys…and she started playing football and jumping/climbing up and over everything and just turning into a little wild child Mama Rose just gave the child to her husband for influences.
Tomboy is a difficult way to describe Kase, sometimes people are born in the wrong body. By 3 they had moved from LA due to older brother being badly injured in gang related violence and ended up in Hawaii where there are still gangs, however underground, and to keep them out of trouble kids were put in after school classes. Krav Magra, Kick Boxing, Gymnastics…and even some Y based Karate class were all staples of after school activities. Throw in the football teams her brothers were on that she wasn't allowed to play on? She could watch and help during practice but never was on a team. Helluva throwing arm or no. But all these things were wonderful tools to keep kids out of trouble. In theory.
Kase was a deceptively sweet looking child, huge husky pale blue eyes, rounded androgynous features and this raspy little voice. She just had this tendency to be calmly playing with her blocks at one moment and then trying to shove them down somebody's throat or hugging somebody then trying to bite through their knee the next. Easily pissed off, creatively violent and athletically prone. Not a good combination. Her parents had arguments over stuff like this, Mama Rose wanted her to be able to defend herself so the classes and learning how to fight were a good thing but the getting in trouble in classes and school were not. Papa Andrew loved her enthusiasm about cars (especially older ones) and restoring/re-painting and just repairing them. Helping him in his shop from a young age while describing how exactly she used the lunch box to show Timmy Johnson who was the pussy - then remembering to tell her to watch her language. They also had to keep an eye on her because if you left her alone in the garage or kitchen for too long…let's just say they had many fire alarms and extinguishers.
Pupule - Crazy/Kolohe - Rascal
Her older brother Lando liked to consider himself 'tough' and was a trickster, that is somebody who did tricking. He had a 'crew' which was somewhat safer than being in a gang, and they did mostly tricking which is an artistic mixture of gymnastics, martial arts and break dancing blended together in a series of kicks, flips and other risky stunts. Living in Hawaii, the violent nature of Kase bubbled under the surface of the laid back surfer like zen-ness that seemed more acceptable. This is why her parents didn't mind her admiring and taking after Lando and his crew. They were more laid back, but when Kase started to pass that awkward pre-teen, early teen rebel stage…falling into the wrong crowds at school despite being a loner did lead her to pushing the boundaries of what she was allowed to do.
PUBERTY! Yay! Only not. It isn't important to go into detail about Kase's sexuality based self-discovery but she had felt wrong for quite some time. That's why her hair was worn short or she wore hats, her clothing were hand-me-downs from her brothers or picked out by the much to her mother's chagrin…she tended to hang with groups of guys until she started getting older and slightly more attention than her buddies when the girls thought she too was one of the boys. Then they got a bit more iffy about hanging out around her, except for one. That's the group where she took the tricks and tips and moves learned from idolizing big bro and the other classes she was forced to endure (still enduring at this point just missing some sometimes) and started moving free running (Free Running is like Parkour…just about the same, just Americanized) with her 'crew'/'gang'. Only they didn't free run to challenge themselves in certain environments, they free ran in public and often crowded places to stir things up and see people make funny faces.
This worked out well with her bunches and bunches of energy but was pretty hard to hide when her mom's police friends talked to her about the behavior and the warnings and occasional fines. Then the free running crew got into stealing or vandalizing cars…and so on and so forth as time went on things started getting worse. Kase's knack for the more mechanical (demolition and hot wiring for the win) and her speed and accuracy in fighting made her a valuable asset. But although she was never caught…mothers just know things. And her own started getting more and more distant.
Aloha nui loa - Very much love
When she was about 16 or so, she came out! Almost…she just admitted to her father who took it the wrong way and pushed her to her mother that she felt she was born wrong. Oh that caused a huge blow up but then her family pretended that it had never happened. When she started declaring she would only go by 'Kase' and getting very very angry when people called her by her full or middle name, her brothers at least got the hint. Then when she turned 18 and brought a girl actually home where her family could see for the first time, they all got the hint. (She doesn't remember what happened to that girl…married now though she hears) That also was not the last girl. It is safe to say Kase was a bit of a player. Respectful and really big on treating girls special but…a player in the local community and a girl's sexuality never really stopped her from flirting.
At 18 she also entered the police academy in a last ditch effort to make up with her mother, make her proud…she was getting training to work with demolitions and the like, diffusing things and taking things apart, putting things together but…she didn't quite flunk out of academy or get kicked off the force, she just got told that it wasn't for her. She tended to be too rough and hurt people and was a walking Police Brutality Law Suit in the making. She did pick up very valuable skills with hitting people with big sticks, taking apart guns…how to actually shoot a gun, but she really doesn't like them. So, kicked out of the force, being about 19 or 20. Tried to work in Dad's shop for a couple of years and kept drifting back to free running/under ground tricking groups which isn't going to get you very far. What do you do?
Aloha - Yo or Peace Out
Go to NYC, she had heard a couple of friends of hers had moved there…ex-gang/crew members who too found things getting too bad or something. So there she went…but she might've wanted to stay in Hawaii with her family though. She's here now, new to the city, a bit put off still with the whole evolved vs evolved debate…she really doesn't give a real damn, determined to find a way to make money/stay off the streets/and have something to write home about to make her parents proud and she has her very nice classic black Camaro that she's working on restoring in her spare time at a shop that can't hire her just yet due to not needing anybody extra. She still needs a job though to keep renting the space out.
It is important to note with Kase that at times the pronoun He is used for ease, s/he is androgynous enough that at times people cannot tell if he is male or female and assume male. He is transgendered in so much as identifying as a male while not having gotten hormones or surgery or anything yet.
S/He is a free runner (can run, climb, flip, vault…parkour like moves) so is kinda hard to catch, was one of the ways she was an asset to her gang a few years ago, scaling walls and getting into places she was not meant to be without need a bunch of tools. Hired Hitter, which means she is a fighter…she has been trying lately to work on her temper so she doesn't just attack people but she's got both training and the dirty fighting instincts which means if she has to fight, she will and she enjoys it, her time at the gym when she can get there often spent working a bag or sparring. Annnnnnd Mechanic, which simply means she knows how to repair, restore, annd overall work well with cars, she loves them. She talks to them even. She understands mechanics fairly well for somebody who's never been to college but did graduate from highschool just barely. She's good at building things/repairing things and working with her hands. Which is alot safer than punching with them that's for sure. The blowing stuff up though…that's just an accidental perk and can thank the police academy for helping hone the natural talent. KABOOM, it is such a fun sound.
She doesn't steal cars anymore or break into buildings with a gang, clearing their way by knocking out the guards anymore. She's cleaned up her act. She's not Kasey who likes to be called Kase anymore, he's just Kase…and man are the girls in NY /hot/ for some reason, site of catastrophe or not. S/he might actually like it here.
