Background

Krystal Douglas was born in 1985 in New York City. She had a pretty average childhood, going to public school. She was a bit of a rebel, always getting in trouble. By the age of 13 she had been caught shop lifting three times. At the age of 15 she was suspended from school for 2 weeks for smoking. At the age of 17 she was expelled for setting off a home made stink bomb that caused the entire high school to be evacuated. Her parents had long since given up on her, and when she turned 18 they turned her out on the streets. For the next two years she held down a job as an assistant manager at a downtown Mcdonalds. She earned her GED and had begun taking classes at a local junior college.

Then the world changed forever. A nuclear bomb leveled down town New York and her dreams. She ended up penniless in a refugee camp with nothing to show for all her hard work. She was desperate; she needed money and had nothing to sell except herself. She was able to get a job in one of the sleazy dance clubs that payed on the relief workers, and has never looked back. Krystal's powers have developed only in the last 18 months. While working as an exotic dancer she has found that her emotions tend to help drive the emotions of the crowd. She has no way of actually controlling or directing her powers as yet, since they are linked to her emotional state. With time and practice she may be able to do so in the future.

Krystal's emotions are not hard to guess. When she feels strong emotions she telegraphs them in the form of Pheromones. In order to use her power she must actually feel the emotion in question, and as time has gone by she has realized this, and as such tries to avoid strong emotions when she wants to control her powers. Her powers are limited to only those near her. The less air circulation the stronger the gas can get and the more powerful the effect. The stronger her emotion the same happens. Those who do not use their nose to breathe or have no sense of smell are immune to her powers. This power would be able to effect anyone within 30 feet of her, it is subconscious so is more like a 'wild talent' more then a 'power' she can not target individuals, it just kind of happens, the effect lasts while in her presence and is dispelled as soon as the person leaves her area of effect. There is alot of room for growth here, I would eventually like to target people and 'feel' emphatically what they are feeling and heighten or lower that.

Perfume of Fear: A natural defense mechanism, the more scared Krystal becomes, the more scared those around her become, this is a deep unreasoning and untargeted anxiety that builds up in those around here.

Whiff of Anger: When she is angered, she increases the violence level around her, this can quickly create escalation of issues that might otherwise have blown over.

Scent of Seduction: When Krystal is in the mood, it puts everyone in the mood. People become more easily manipulated, and in the case of patrons at the dance club more generous. In some cases this can also cause violent actions in those prone to violence that becomes frustrated with their lack of outlet.

Odor of Despair: When Krystal is not happy, nobody is happy, deep depression pours out of every pore to contagiously infect those around her.

Happy Gas: When Krystal is happy, EVERYONE is happy. This giddy feeling will infect people giving them a natural high that feels so good. Ever have one of those days where you are on top of the world, and nothing can bring you down.
