Background

My name is Tristan Rainmayr. I was born a while ago to a small family in Paradise, Nevada. I come from a long line of cops on both sides. When my parents married it was like this huge event. They had even higher hopes when I was born. A boy! A hybrid cop from two strong families. My future was planned before I took my first breath. Luckily, it's all I ever wanted to do. I know nothing else. All my schooling was pushing me towards this goal. When I was standing up on that podium voted class clown and most likely to arrest myself… It was the joy of my life.

I grew up beside my best friend who was also ready to be a cop. He had a larger family and I was kind of welcomed in with open arms. It was nice. It felt like home really. Just as much as my home did. He had two siblings. A younger brother and a younger sister. She was a little spitfire. I remember one Christmas I had fallen asleep on the couch and she covered my face in whip cream. I didn't expect it. I knew she had a crush on me but that's all it was really. She was my best friends little sister. That is a breach of the bro-code.

Police Academy time. I loved it there. The training and the testing. The spars and the guns and the comradery. It was like my own personal heaven. I learned there everything I could. I excelled at thinking like a criminal and I always used my instincts to tell me where they would be. I was like a poor Batman. Well, more like a semi-well off Batman.

My interview with the local police went awesome. But really it didn't. I didn't get the job the first time. Too much of a clown I believe was the words. So I applied again and was on my best behavior. I learned when to curb the humor. The Police meant business. I learned to focus when I needed too and also taught some of the guys how to have a good time when the job was over. You take your work home and it's going to kill ya.

I guess my superiors liked the way I thought about things. Within five years I became Sergeant and another few years after that I became a Lieutenant. I have been for a long time now too. I'm good at this. The investigation and the paper work. It gives me a break from the mundane but also doesn't tie me to a desk. I think I'll be good here for a while. I've got much to learn.

All this changed when my powers developed. I was able to just touch someone and get them to answer truthfully. It was great in interrogation. Again my life change when my partner, my neighbor, my best friend, was shot standing right beside me. As he dropped, so did I. Just some random gang banger took his life instantly. The stress of so much going wrong was too much. Even for a lifer like myself. I got out of the blue and into the white. I became a PI, choosing the cases I wanted to take.

This worked while I learned more about the mutations within my own body. I was getting stronger. I could effect people for longer. I could get them to actually do things now. Course little things but nothing that I wouldn't do. It was a lot to get used too. Then the nuke went off on the other side of the country and I was rapt. I watched as the world went mad and good people did bad things. I watched it all clinically. What could I do? I even registered and made sure my partners little sister registered. It was best after all.

After my partner died, his little sister and I got closer over our loss. When I left the force she became my assistant in my PI business. She was useful. I can sometimes get scatterbrained and she kept me on track. I couldn't ask for a better friend and business partner.

I decided finally to go there. To meet more men and women like myself and to help out any way I can. My help might be coming late but it comes.

Psych Profile

I am usually good humored and I am rarely too tense. When its down to business though I am focused. However, those times aren't all the time. Not even all the time at work. I prefer to do what my gut tells me to do and I'm described by my Captain as "He's a sense of humor. Understands action. He's got unconventional methods but he's honorable." I pride myself on my honor.

Intense, passionate, brooding, magnetic; stubborn, unyielding, driven by emotions; stands up for self, usually covertly, manipulates power; understands deeper layers of the psyche beyond the ego, unable to communicate this well leading to misunderstandings; intrigued by the "dark side" of life; the underground, people whose job involves going beneath surface appearances; self-mastery, breaking free of illusory limitations, the Hero. Tristan is intense and powerful. Although he appears controlled and calm, he is emotional and energetic. He seems fun to be with socially, but he sometimes seems self-involved and withdrawn.

Evolved Ability

Through a simple, skin to skin touch, Rainmayr can override the nerves in the brain of another person in order to force them to do as he says, be it to tell the truth or to manage simple tasks such as unlocking a door. The control lasts for as long as physical contact is maintained, and for ten minutes after such. The 10 minute time limit is that he can ask for something to happen that might take longer then 10 minutes but the compulsion will start wearing off the second he removes his hand/hands from the person and is gone after 10 minutes or the task is complete. If he is touching them the compulsion continues. Those with strong wills (Gungho police officers, etc…) have the greatest chance to resist such control. They may sense somehow that the man is attempting to manipulate their way of thinking and become wary. This does not work on telepaths or those with mental protections as it effects the brainwaves and surely any attempt at manipulation would be noted and fought against.

More in depth, he can only control one thing at a time. It's either asking questions or telling. Each question or forced action within the scene, weakens Rainmayr physically. The more he forces his control the weaker he is. There is no recharge to this ability other then him regaining strength. He can do that by taking a short mental break or by having a meal or sleeping depending on the amount of times he's used the ability. The more tired he is the harder it is to use the ability. He tends to intake a lot of carbs on days he knows he's going to use the ability. Should he over use his ability or attempts to push himself he can get migraines to feeling like he's run a marathon and passing out.

Limits: He can get any truth that's buried within someone's mind and as long as he keeps contact he can keep asking questions and get the truth returned with ease. The taxing part is when he requests they do things. He has to keep focused on the task while the person is doing it and it can't be a large task. Opening a locked door, putting a pin code in, walking home instead of driving. Small things, though when the connection is broken after the task they will feel compelled to continue if it's walking home or something, though it's easier to resist. If it was a truth or task they were not willing to do before then they would feel at least confused on why they offered up the information or did the task.

Firearms

Pistols - He's trained with pistols to the qualifications of a police officer. He can deconstruct a gun and put it back together with a blindfold on, rather quickly. He takes his semi annual fire arms exam and always passes safety and shot. His shot is pretty good with a handgun, he can generally hit the bullseye 7 of 10 times and the other three shots hit close.

Rifles - While he was in the force, he was frequently given the SIG556 HOLO, a rifle which is 7.8 pounds with 5.56mm NATO ammo. He would tend to take the sniper position in a bust and his shot with the rifle was 8 of 10 hit where he wanted it too and the other 2 shots were body shots that hit close.

Investigation

He's almost perfected the art of solving mysteries by examining a very little amount of evidence and finding a connection. He is good with answering riddles and truly getting into the head of a felon to grasp their motives. He looks beyond the mundane to find the little things that give him insight.

Persuasion/Interrogation

With Persuasion, he tries to get information this way first. He uses anything from charm to logic to get the person to give up the information he requires.

If persuasion is unsuccessful, he's been proven to have excellent willpower. He generally can easily wear down someones mental resistance until the subject is incapable of concealing the information he's looking for. In battles of wills, he's generally stubborn enough to outlast. He's been practising this his whole life.

Combat

Most of his combat is not damage based. His combat is defensive, deflective and grappling. Defensively he uses his arms and body to block the shots to prevent the brunt of the damage, which brings us to deflective. He uses each block to deflect it away from himself or if he's defending someone from them. He generally uses any means nessecary. The grappling is just as understandable. When chasing a a purp you need to get them to the ground and pin them. All three arts he's been practising and using for almost 15 years. He's been improving on these three combat techniques to become more proficiant.

Driving

He's been trained in proper police defensive driving. He knows PIT maneuvers and baracades. He knows how to use a vehicle as a weapon or defensive object. He's also been driving since he was 16 so… half his life he's been behind the wheel. He also owns a motorcycle and knows how to safely drive it through traffic and have a wreck without ending up a pancake.

Stealth

He has advanced training in avoiding notice, whether by moving silently, making use of cover or blending into a crowd. This is helpful to all police officers while they hunt the bad guys. He uses this to follow his targets and even in a crowd he's good at being not noticed. He silently moves and he uses his surroundings to his advantage.

Streetwise

He's got a few connections on the street that are willing to offer little bits of information in return he doesn't turn them in for their little transgressions.

Resources

He's actually pretty well off. His job provides all of his income and even in the economy of this day and age, people are still willing to pay out for services to feed their paranoia.

	Kristen Reynolds (K) - My first job in the area. She seems rather passionate and I think while she gets the first ripple the rest elude her.
	Brad Russo - A lot of pain behind a charming smile…I'm not a shrink but I think he needs to stop putting his failures as a stumbling block for himself. It's okay to move on, Mr. Russo.
