Background

It all started with the birth of a baby…

Thalia Amelia Alexis Ashford was born to Mike and Bella Ashford on the tenth day of December, 1985. Mike and Bella already had one child. Isabelle who was only a year when Thalia was born. The parents were also Company Agents and so when Isabelle was just a baby, the Company saw fit to experiment and give the baby an Evolved ability synthetically. Mike and Bella couldn’t let that happen to their second child and so in the midst of Bella’s pregnancy, they contacted the only people they knew could help them. Regina, Mike’s sister and her husband Benjamin. The aunt and uncle of the two girls were let in on their little secret the couple readily accepted the charge of caring for Thalia. There was a deal made, Thalia never be told of her parent’s existence or the fact that she had a sister and the couple would never have to worry about money again.. not that they really needed to with Regina being a successful business woman.

So Regina sold her company that she owned and had started, Benjamin had closed down his mechanic shop and with the help of the resources that Thalia’s parents had the two left the country under false identification with Thalia and went to settle and hide in Canada. Vancouver to be exact. The last place they thought the Company would come to find them. The name on their fake i.ds was Bonner. So Regina, Benjamin and Thalia Bonner settled down in a city far from New York City. Thalia was spoiled as she was a baby and a young toddler. As soon as Thalia was able her uncle began taking her to his auto body shop he had begun working at and taught her about cars and teaching her everything he could about them and how to fix them and work on them. Thalia had an instant attraction to cars, not just for the outside of them but really for under the hood as well. That wasn’t the only thing that her uncle taught her, he taught her a few things about how to defend herself if the need ever arose. Something she didn’t have much love for but she continued to learn anyway. From boys and other people around the city, she began to learn how to handle a knife and a gun. The boys that taught her this stuff of course were apart of the gangs in the city. Many of which Thalia became associated with and even dated some of the boys. All this was to protect Thalia if a guy ever tried to take advantage of her but the real reasoning for her being taught these things was in case the Company ever tried to come and take her away she could have /something/ to defend and help herself with. When Benji and Regina heard of Mike and Bella’s death, they refused to tell Thalia about it. Thalia already thought her parents were dead so why would they feel the need to shatter her life as she knew it. This of course led to Isabelle being thrown into the system because Regina and Benji /couldn’t/ get to her, not without risking Thalia.

As she grew older, the girl would ask her aunt and uncle questions about her parents but the two would always change the subject. This led to Thalia always having a extreme want to learn more information about her family and who they were. Sometimes she would daydream of them coming back to get her and the three of them living happily ever after but she knew that it wasn’t possible.

Then Thalia turned eighteen and she had been invited to travel to China with one of her closet friends she had grown up with to her friend’s family. While there she learned all about the culture and the people, and this is where she met her first love. Luke. Luke was an American that had moved to China, and the funny thing was he worked on cars as well! For the six months that Thalia was in China she and Luke grew very close, very fast and when she decided to go back home to Canada, he followed her. The bomb of course happened while she was outside of the United States. Thalia at that point had come to live back with her aunt and uncle. The revelation that there were so many Evolved out there rocked Thalia to the core. She had no idea that people like that exist. She almost instantly wanted to find out more about the Evolved and she would always look for updates on news about Evolved and the situation which more than unnerved her caretakers. It was two months after the Evolved were made public that Thalia found out she was Evolved as well. One night as Thalia, Luke and her uncle closed the auto body shop that they had been working at together, they were attacked by Company Agents who had finally found them. Benji and Regina hadn’t known if Mike and Bella’s death had been an actual accident or if the Company had arranged it. The Company had been looking for Benji and Luke actually for a while now, since they were thought of to be Evolved and have particularly dangerous abilities. They searched for years until finally finding out where they had been hidden this whole time. As the three were attacked by Company agents, it was revealed to Thalia that both Luke and Benji, were Evolved as well. As the two fought them away from Thalia she raced upstairs to try and call the police, it was then that an agent had gotten past her uncle and tried to come after her, he accidently pushed her through the window, as she fell she expected to die right then and there but when she touched down, it wasn’t nearly as hard as it should have been. She had fallen and escaped with only a few bruises. Luke, Benji and Thalia then raced away from the place and went to collect Regina it was time to go on the run. So Regina quit her new job as seamstress and the four ran to Europe and on the way the Ashford story was explained to Thalia in full. She learned of her sister and her parent’s jobs in the Company.

The fact the Company had ripped her family away from her made her more than angry, she /hated/ the Company for what they did to her family. Thalia begged her aunt and uncle to come with her to try and find Isabelle, her sister who could still be in New York City but the pair refused saying it was too much of a risk to do so. So they hid out in Paris, and then London. While there they layed low and didn’t even tell people their real names. Never staying in one place for too long. Along the way, Thalia began to meet new Evolved and made a few friends out of them before she had to leave for the next place. The next time the Company came after the Ashfords they came more prepared and while Thalia had gotten away, Regina, Benji and Luke had not gotten away. (At least to Thalia’s knowledge). So all alone and by herself, with money that was left to her from her parents that Regina had given her and the trust fund that Regina had set up. Thalia began the journey to America, where she would undoubtedly find her sister who would hide her and help her. Little did she know that Isabelle was already dead..

Psych Profile

Thalia is a determined woman. Once she starts something it’s very hard to get her to stop. Her persistence can be considered a good or bad thing. Depending on how you look at it. Deep down Thalia is a little self- conscious because of the fact that she doesn’t think she was good enough for her parents, it’s an irrational thought since they were trying to protect her but she can’t help but feel that way. She can seem a little bitchy at times, but it’s just her using her sarcastic remarks and harder exterior to not let people in. Since she doesn’t trust people easily. Thalia is also of course prone to that Ashford temper and can fly off the handle if pushed a little to hard.

Evolved Ability

Thalia doesn’t know what exactly her ability is. She knows that she can fall from high places and not be hurt from it, but she thinks that’s because she has some sort of levitation. She does in no form have that ability. She actually has the ability of Aerokinesis, which is the ability to control and manipulate air and the currents. The first way she learned to use this and the only way she knows how to use this as of right now is to float. It gives the appearance of flying but it is not flying at all. This isn’t flying like Nathan but floating instead. It’s more like throwing herself around with the use of the air. If Thalia was to fall from a high building she could soften her landing by using the air currents around her. Or just float up and out of the way when something comes flying at her. She has the ability also to boost and slow her momentum down by using the air around her. Another part of her ability, but something she just chalks up to an uncanny skill of hers is to know exactly what direction the wind is coming from.

When Thalia discovers the true nature of her ability, she will be able to do a number of different things. First will be that she will be able to gather the air currents around her and expel them from her at gale force speed and power. This could very well make people and objects she throws the wind slam into a wall or slam through a door.

Another part of her ability would be that she could steal all the air from a room and suffocate someone while she is surrounded by a bubble of air to keep herself alive. This use of her ability will undoubtedly make her very weak and tired if held for too long. She can extend the field of ‘no air’ to about thirty feet around her, maybe more if she pushes herself pass her limits. Thalia also has a natural resistance to the wind and is able to walk through /very/ strong winds as if nothing is happening. The wind just seems to blow around her.

If Thalia uses her ability past her capacity and nose bleeds and killer headaches come. If she uses her ability even more past what she can normally do then she can go into coma. Because Thalia does not know how to use her ability or the true nature of her ability. The rest of her ability besides the floating is activated by emotions, such as being really angry or afraid.

Skills

Mechanics: Thalia is a true grease monkey. She knows tons about cars and how to fix them and restore them. It’s her passion and something she knows she is very good at. So she can be a little cocky when it comes to cars. Augmentation and retrofitting of vehicles is also something that Thalia is quite gifted at.

Driving: Thalia is an more than exceptional driver. She can drive normal vehicles to motorcycles. If you need to get away from somewhere fast and you’re using a car. You just might want Thalia as the driver.

Self Defense: Thalia was taught some self defense by her grandfather while growing up, she’s built on that with street brawling and is capable of protecting herself in a fight. While in China, she picked up the skill of shooting a bow and arrow. A skill she is still perfecting. She also knows a little bit about knife fighting.

Languages: Thalia speaks Mandarin and English fluently. She's been learning French and Russian lately as well.

Relationships

Family

The sister that she never knew, the one she was coming to for help only to find out that Isabelle had been murdered. Even so, Izzy has had an profound effect on Thalia. She often thinks about what her older sister would do in the situations that Thalia gets into. Thalia often dreams of Isabelle, dreaming of what could have been. What should have been if the Company hadn't torn them apart.

Others

Business Partner/friend, Abby is one of a kind. The two did get off to a rocky start but things eventually smoothed over. Thalia hasn't talked to Abby in sometime with her being away and such. Though she knows if she needs to that she can depend on Abby to help. Abs the Nun of Old Lucy's.

Katherine or June as Thalia first met her is one of Thalia's best friends. A sister of sorts. When Kat came to Thalia she didn't know who she was or anything. Thalia took her in and they worked at Antonio's together for a while. Then June disappears and Kat returns to reclaim her body basically. Though it's taken Thalia some time to get use to Katherine and not June. She loves the woman all the same. She'd do anything to protect Kat. She's the first true friend she made in NYC.
