For as far as Vinnie can remember, it was him, his little sister, and his mother since the day he came into this bloody world until he reached the age of about 6 or 7. He was born in 1973, his mother was a drug addict and they tended to move around quite a bit but generally they lived in the slums of the city Brighton which is now refered to as Brighton and Hove. Around the age six, or seven, Vinnie's mom remarried a black man whom had a boy that was a year or two older than Vinnie himself.
Of course, Vinnie never knew his real father, instead he only knew perverted old men who paid and bribed their way into his mom's bed until she became so addicted to her drugs that she claimed love to a drug dealer, convienently. The man that his mother married was nice to them for the first year or two, and then eventually it started to get really sour from there on. Him and his son seemed to be the ones calling all the shots and Vinnie, his mom and sis all had to do as they were told or suffer consequences.
Vinnie, of course, about the age of ten decided that that wasn't the way he was going to live and he started to develope a really cold sarcasm — his stepfather really didn't like how Vinnie always mocked him and acted so tough so the man physically abused him night and day. And that wasn't the only boundary that the man had crossed as far as Vinnie was concerned. Beating him to a bloody pulp everyday was one thing, but when his stepfather decided to start taking some aggressions out on his sister, and not just by beating her with fists or such, but in OTHER ways. It was at that time when Vinnie started to develope into the man that he is today. Everyday Vinnie contemplated revenge upon the man and as he was growing older, bigger, stronger and faster. Vinnie was slowly gaining the confidence that he needed to take back his life and his family's.
While in school, Vinnie didn't make exceptional marks, he wasn't exactly as striaght A student, but instead he was the one with Cs and Ds, as he really couldn't focus on his education when there was so much disturbance in his enviroment at home, but Vinnie did turn toward the athletic side of his schooling. He was a rugby player and a football player (soccer!) for his school's team for a short while. He definately had a gift for athletism, that's when he realized that his talents wasn't his mind, but rather he was more talented with physical activities — the more hands on, the better. That is, until he got suspended for selling drugs to other students and kicked out of school.
After getting removed from school, Vinnie ended up spending a little more time at home, with his wonderful stepfather. But now Vinnie was seventeen years old, he wasn't a little punk kid anymore, thus he took control of his own destiny for once by fighting back instead of just mouthing off. Vinnie and his stepfather struggled, Vinnie ended up winning the fight this time, leaving his stepfather in a bloody mess. His mother and sister was there to witness the entire event. It was then that Vinnie's mother told him to leave and to never come back. So that's what Vinnie did. He left.
Living on the streets for several months, almost a year, until he turned eighteen. Vinnie then decided to join the army. From there Vinnie went through bootcamp and military training, he excelled at all the physical training and tests, but lacked more in the strategical department. It didn't take long for Vinnie to be shipped off to see his first action since enlisting.
It was there that he met Ethan, a man that was a few years older than himself that was the leader of his first squadron, they were stationed near Yugoslavia. He got along great with Ethan and a few of his other mates and he followed Ethan's every order to a T until finally the conflict were over and the squad was split up after that. There was some issues that had sprung up after they returned home about Ethan's command but Vinnie denied everything and kept everything to himself like he thought a good soldier would do.
It wasn't long before Vinnie was shipped off again, taking tours in several different war zones, the years seemed to fly by before he knew where they went. Vinnie moved up in the ranks overtime and eventually was put into special forces training where he than began to learn how to make and disarm explosives. He was very good at it, and he certainly loved it.
The whole army experience engulfed Vinnie, it became his entire life. He followed in the footsteps of his first commanding officer, Ethan, and he displayed a ruthlessness like no other. Taking no prisoners and leaving no survivors on several of his missions. However, Vinnie's appetite for destruction eventually earned him an early dismissal from the British army.
After that, Vinnie went home finally, not only with new sadistic outlook onthe world, but some bad habits that came along with it, alcohol and smoking just to name a couple of them.
It was then that Vinnie decided that he'd pay a visit to his mother and sister, perhaps after these long years they would accept him back, he at least knew that his sister would. When Vinnie finally was able to track down his mother, he found that she was still with that same man and she was no better than when he left her. However, his sister had fled the scene, grateful that she had sense enough to get out before anything else bad happened to her.
But Vinnie wasn't going to just let it go now, things were different for him, he has seen the world in a new light, sort to speak. So it was then that Vinnie tried to kill his stepfather, his mother of course getting in the line of fire and dying, that just drove Vinnie even more to the edge. He murdered his stepfather in cold blood and without a second thought about it, Vinnie left. He fled the country, first to africa where he travelled around for awhile before finally picking up and heading to the States.
Not alot happened inbetween that time, but as Vinnie lived in the States, he ended up killing three men that tried to mug him and he was arrested by the authorities and put into prison. Vinnie did nothing but work out and trained in his cell everyday until one day he discovered something…
He had a new ability, an explosive one at that. Vinnie then used his ability to escape from prison and quickly became a fugitive. His face, his name, everything about him plastered all over the news. Vinnie was started to be cornered by the police when he ran into an old friend… Ethan Holden. His former commander has shown Vinnie much hospitality…
Vinnie is street smart kind of guy; however he's not exactly someone that would be considered an everyday social person. He has developed a straight-forward, no non-sense kind of attitude. Having suffered from childhood trauma as well as years in military service, he is simply put, a soldier at his core. An overly aggressive person, he is the kind of guy that doesn't have a problem getting into other people's faces. And he's certainly not the type to back down from a fight. Instead he is usually the one to strike first — he doesn't even give his opponent time to blink before he reacts. With a string of violent behaviors in his past, Vinnie still seeks to do what he considers good and even though he was trained to be a killer, he thinks that perhaps he can still use that to do what has to be done for the greater good. He cared about his family, he considers his only family left to be his sister and he'd do anything to protect her. Not to mention that he'd do whatever it took to get a 'job' done. This is a twisted, maniacal being whom has delusions of grandeur, although he certainly doesn't consider himself to be a 'hero', he still acts as though he is 'saving the world' in a way.
Vinnie is a dangerous person simply because his self-righteous attitude is easily manipulative as it holds no real foundation or security despite being a 'man of principles'. His principles consist of mostly "only the strong survive" or "kill or be killed". There really is no gray for Vinnie, his entire world is in the shadows. He doesn't believe that anyone cares about what he's done in service for his country. He just thinks that he's ignored because no one wants to know the 'evil' or 'bad' things he has done in the name of his country, he believes that nobody wants that kind of thing hanging over their head. He spits in the face of people that consider themselves to have morale, or those that claimed to be humanitarians, he really despises these people the most simply because they are those people that would wipe their hands clean of him, his type of person, if giving half an opportunity to do so.
Vinnie has always been a self-reliant, independent person. He doesn't rely on no one for any kind of help, except for in his first days in the army, he relied only on a few of his comrades and since then he has always been the one that others looked up to simply because he's as solid as a rock, he has a ton of fortitude to weather the bad and keep on moving. He's not exactly an emotional person; he's usually a grim looking person that hardly ever smiles and when he does it's usually for some sadistic reason, like after he just blew up something, or if he just beat somebody to a bloody pulp.
Vinnie isn't one of those people that are above revenge, or holding grudges. In fact, he held a grudge against his stepfather, and even though the man is dead now, he still holds a grudge! He isn't the kind to forget when somebody does wrong by him, but he also isn't the type to forget when someone does good for him either. Vinnie is definitely one of those people with an 'extreme' personality, he leans more toward the violent side of life.
Despite all of this, Vinnie does have honor and pride, but more or less those revolve around a self-preservation that extends to his family and closest friends. If it means going against what he believes to do something that he believes is the right thing to do, or for the greater good, then he will undoubtedly do it.
Simply put. He can blow things up.
