Background

Huruma’s life was quite similar to that of Prime; she was abandoned and grew up on her own, with all that entails. As the end of the 90s came, it was the first time she encountered outside interference in the form of those who knew about the evolved abilities she and others shared. In coming years and after several attempts, she would be contained and taken to a black site— a prison for people like her deemed too dangerous or unable to be ‘rehabilitated’. She had quite the rap sheet— and she had quite the blockmates.

Being deemed too dangerous didn’t mean she wasn’t worth something; they kept her under lock and key for study purposes when it came to psionic abilities. Once or twice she was even pressured into helping her otherwise ignorant captors. It was in this prison that she met the likes of Adam Monroe and others; while in Prime her escape was swift, it was facilitated by something which didn’t take place in the Flood timeline. So she was to remain imprisoned.

The warden was replaced long before the world flooded; Benjamin Ryans ought to have been what she and the others hated— but it didn’t go that way. He was one of them, and he had his own demons— and it was him that gave them an outstretched hand rather than a fist. He wanted to expose the prison, and they wanted nothing more than to see that happen.

Because of her imprisonment she was never a part of Operation Apollo. She never found Madagascar, or her family, nor does she know they exist. Instead, her world was four walls for some time.

When the flood came, their captors largely abandoned them there in the prison. Guards, staff, the rest. The prisoners weren’t worth anything to them, but they were to the Warden— who released them rather than let them drown in concrete tombs.

She stayed with Adam and a couple of the other prisoners as they made an escape inward on the mainland; they stayed on the high ground until the dust settled. Once it did, nothing kept them from heading back to the coast. They had more chances there, it seemed, given the mass immigration inland. It was only a short time before they found Ryans in a makeshift port strung up on the coastline. Already mankind had jerryrigged something of civilization together, and the advent of the sea began. They found a boat, they found a crew, and they hit the waves.

Psych Profile

Much the same as Prime as well, at least up to the later 90s; during her imprisonment she developed a sense of otherness and emotional empathy much earlier than Prime, thanks to her vicinity to the same people for so long. She is less stern and venomous, and more humbled, but also a further degree of cracked time and again; her confidence and pride took a heavy blow, and she is not as bold. She is still playful like her prime counterpart, though her self in flood is a portion more obsessive, or possessive— scared to lose things, compulsive in protecting what her head deems as ‘hers’.

Evolved Ability

Huruma’s ability developed on the same lines, with a few changes; she focused much less on trying to manipulate negative emotions after her imprisonment began, and over time also developed it to work with much larger distances at lesser effects. She is also more affected by the emotions of others, far moreso than what she gained in Prime; she draws them in like a slow whirlpool rather than proving able to resist taking on others as she would in Prime.
