Background

Somehow, Ben Jr managed to survive that day. It’s a day that haunts his nightmares. He and his mom had been on the lower floors at the back of the building when the missile hit. The concussion threw him, his mother, and many others through a window and into the water. His nightly horror is watching the building slump and fall into the ocean. The waves from the impact over taking him and his mother. And only he managed to surface again.

He and others were left treading water for sometime, until a skiff came along, looking for salvageable and picked them up. Ben Jr begged to be taken to his father and sisters, but the ship's captain didn’t want to get close to where the battle was raging.

It wasn’t until after the final battle against the Sentinel that Ben Jr was able to finally get back to his family, only to find out only he and his father remained in their family. It took the loss of everything he and his father loved to get him on the Cerberus.

At this point, he has no ability and no way of knowing if he ever will. He can’t help to be bothered by that, though his sisters were older then he is now when they got theirs. Having a young girl who has an ability (Squeaks) makes him rather subconscious about not having one… and hence, feels the need to show he’s just as good as she is without one.

He specifically hates to be coddled and protected by his father, railing against it any chance he gets.
