Background

Most of Ben’s history is the same, with a few differences — well beyond the obviously different groups he worked with.

Benjamin starts out with OSI. He married his sweetheart September and had his boy Bradley. The events of 1983, found him losing his son… he blames himself since he was part of the detail to watch after what Michelle Cardinal was doing. The guilt pushes away September and they divorce. Ben throws himself into his work, transitioning to DoEA. It is infuriating to him when he finds out that Michelle is an agent. His protests fall on deaf ears because she is valuable to them.

He still meets Mary and they have their two girls. Here Mary, nor September died. His work pulls them apart and they separated. Never really divorcing. It is a volatile relationship even now. On and off again, since when he asks her to join him on the ship, she continues to refuse and he won’t stay. It isn't a life she wants for herself.

During his time with DoEA, he finds out about a black site holding people like him. He become the warden there - their way to keep him and Michelle from crossing paths. From the start he doesn't like what he sees there and strikes up a friendship with a few of the prisoners there, especially Adam Monroe and Huruma. What he learns about the place doesn't sit well and he plots to expose it, however, before he can enact these plans, the Vanguard rise up and they flood the world. When news comes of the incoming wave, he moves to free the prisoners. Adam and Huruma end up being a couple of the ones he knows to survive, though it is possible there are more that meet up with them as time goes on.

They are able to get their hands on a ship, a Island Class Patrol Boat, decommissioned and stripped of its coast guard markings. He names the ship The Cerberus and becomes it’s captain. With Ben’s skills from the Navy… they find their home on the seas. Eventually, Ben’s daughters join him and others. They become protectors and scavengers, the bane of pirates. Strange since so many were imprisoned and now they protect the innocent. They have even survived a clash or two with Sawyer.

Psych Profile

I want Flood Ryans to be somewhat different than his Prime counterpart. Don’t get me wrong, he will still have a lot of Ryans qualities, but he shows a lot more emotions. He isn’t as stoic as the man we know in Prime. He laughs, he shows anger. He shouts and curses. He still has a protective streak for those he cares about and will do what he feels is the right thing.

Evolved Ability

In the flood timeline, Ben’s ability was never stripped from him by Arthur. He is not a threat to be taken lightly. He’s a old man and his ability is probably pretty advanced. I could see him weathering the Stormfront for a score, using his ability to steady the ship. It’s saves them more then once. However, it will wear him out.

His ability works a lot like an invisible extension of himself. He needs to be able to see what he is manipulating, initially. After he can hide, but it is far clumsier that way and takes far too much concentration. So he prefers to see his target at all times. He can use it to jump higher and to come down softly, but of course he can't fly with it, nor does he want too. He can use it to keep his balance on rough seas.

So that it isn't super OP he can only manipulate one thing at a time. Example: During a storm he uses his ability to steady the boat. But a particularly big wave crashes over the boat making a crew member go over. Spotting him in the rough sea, Ben let's go of his hold on the boat and grabs the crew member and flings him back on board before grabbing a hold of the ship again. The further an object is away from him the more effort it takes to move it and the soon he wears out.

A boat that was taken from the Sentinel and now serves as Ryan's new boat. (At least until he can find a new Navy boat.)

The Cerberus - DESTROYED

An old formerly decommissioned Island Patrol Boat, once part of the Coast Guards fleet. It holds a crew of 14. This model has a boat launch at the stern of the ship, which holds a rigid hull inflatable boat (The Pup) and a single jetski (The Runt). After being bombed by Noah Bennet, it held on as long as it could, but eventually succumbed to it's injuries. He will miss that boat very much.

Other Vehicles

Snoopy A helicopter used for reconnaissance. Though it doesn't get flown much, since fuel is scarce. The Snoopy is flown by flFinn.
The Pup I & Pup II Rigid hull inflatable rafts, used by the navy to transport folks where the ship cannot. Carries 9 personnel if need be. Only thing left of the original boat.
The Runt - LOST A rather tired looking jetski that can hold up to two people if need be. It went down with the ship. ;_;
