The storyline Inferno deals with the natural disaster of a wildfire making slow but steady progress toward the Safe Zone. At the start of Volume III the wildfire will be in Connecticut and progress in real-time across the country toward the Safe Zone. PCs will be able to commit their time and resources to helping fight the massive wildfire while the broken and beleaguered United States struggles to combat the raging blaze. This will be a massive storyline similar to the "Endless Winter" blizzard from our 2010 storyline Fahrenheit which will impact everyone on-grid, allowing you to create your own story arcs within ours as you deal with the blaze.

Things your character might know:

The Ohio River Fire

• On September 02, 2020 a fire broke out at the ruins of the Nova Chemicals Plant in the ruins of Monaca, PA. It spread to roughly 800 acres. (http://string-theory.wikidot.com/report:ohio-river-fire-causes-evacuation)
• On September 15, 2020 the fire had spread 23 miles southeast along the Ohio River toward Pittsburgh, driven by strong winds. (http://string-theory.wikidot.com/report:ohio-river-fire-consumes-pittsburgh)
  • The fires in Pittsburgh are causing explosions and toxic smoke. There is fear the fires might eventually reach a nuclear reactor in a neighboring town.
• The fire isn't a threat to the Safe Zone or Providence. Provided it can be contained the worst effect that may be felt is smoky air for a few days.
