So, after discussing it with Manhattan, I decided to make this announcement in public rather than just to a few relevant people.
Basically, Magnes will be retired at the end of volume 3. He won't be dying or anything, but will be gone from the city.
This is largely because I feel that Magnes has been brought to near his narrative conclusion, once I've tied up these loose ends. While there's always a slim chance I decide to do differently, my mind and feelings are pretty set on this happening. I ultimately feel as if there's not much more I can really do with him, and, as I've mentioned many times, Magnes was a character I'd basically retired after String Theory closed. It was nice being able to play him again and bring him to his full potential, but I really think it's time to formally put an end to things across this volume.
This post is for if anyone has any lingering things that they want to do with him. They will have the entire volume to do it, so there's no immediate rush. I felt everyone should have a chance.
As for what I'll be doing after Magnes, I'm basically adapting the OC I played for many years after I was done with Magnes. He never quite worked out where I played him, but was a character I had as much energy for playing as Magnes, who I don't believe ever truly reached his full potential. I always believed he would be great on String Theory, but never adapted him for a number of reasons that no longer apply. Consider it the stars aligning. I've discussed this character and adapting him with Manhattan, but I'm largely keeping it a secret until it's closer to the point where I'll be formally apping him. I do feel this character fits my modern play style more than Magnes did, given how old I was when I created Magnes, so I look forward to showing you this character who I have a lot of inspiration for.
But yeah, that's all. This isn't anything negative, there are no real negative feelings involved, and it'll otherwise be business as usual with all my other characters. This is more me making what I believe is a necessary creative decision for myself, and I hope that we can all have fun with Magnes with this time we have left!
