Cambria Salon and Day Spa

Tranquil and Fabulous wrapped up in warm and inviting colors and the sleek lines of Japanese architecture…Cambria Salon and Day Spa is a fashionable paradise. Dark almost black wood paneling has been used through out the salon, fresh flowers are found in glass vases and exchanged with flower shaped candles every day at 4 PM. There is a different theme for just about every day of the week, but nothing set in stone. There are 8 or so individual work stations with leaf shaped mirrors and comfortable chairs. There are a couple of private rooms for waxing, facials and massages and the like including a private station and office for the owner. The reception area is designed for comfort with the black seats and couches, glass coffee tables and glass/wood reception desk. Over all the salon is edgy and sleek, it is Cambria Salon and Day Spa.

Typical afternoon at the salon, things have died down for the most part. Not that many customers, actually none at all during a rare lull. Raquelle is idly setting out hair-cut utensils on one of those rolling tray deals. He wears a fitted black turtle neck under a dark purple vest, his purple and black toolbelt/apron deal tied around his waist as he moves around comfortably in a pair of black leather pants, docs on his feet and he wears a black fedora as he whistles to himself and checks the label on some sort of spray.

Laina walks into the Cambria Salon and approaches the reception desk. "I don't have an appointment, but any way someone could take me? I just need a trim." She fingers the ends of her hair and smiles. Today she decided to dress in shades of blue. Her hair is light blue at the top, fading through the spectrum to navy blue at the ends. She's wearing a medium blue pea-coat, navy blue purse and ankle boots, standard blue jeans, and a sky blue top. Her nails are painted navy blue, and even the bandages that cover the palms of both hands are sky blue in color.

Kendall is at the front desk, browsing the internet. When Laina walks in, he blinks at her, then looks towards the back at Raquelle. "Boss, we have a customer." he calls over, then smiles at Laina, pushing a sign-in sheet towards her. "Here, just put your name and what you want done…." pause. "Oh hey, I saw you at Magnes' for his birthday party. You're the ginger cat." hehehe. Talking kitties.

"Mmm…find out what she wants and put the computer on save screen or whatever honey, I've got a special job for you, bring her on back." Raquelle replies distractedly, idly tapping a glossy black nail against the tray as he stares at the chair thoughtfully. "And bring an apron and a cape with you baby."

Laina thinks for a moment, then her grin brightens. "You're the illusionist! I didn't recognize you not dressed as your character!" Hmm, maybe she shouldn't shout things about illusions quite so loudly in public. Just because she doesn't mind using her powers, doesn't mean this kid wants to be outed. She signs her name on the sign-in sheet and fills out the other requested information.

"Wait, what?" Kendall blinks at Raquelle, then shrugs and clicks a few things on the computer. "All right then. And, uh…. yeah, not so loud." he winces at Laina, perhaps a touch guiltily. "Ok, come with me." he goes to grab the things that Raquelle told him to get, and then goes towards Raquelle. Uh oh, he's got a bad feeling about this….

Raquelle looks up to see Laina, eyebrows raising as he looks her over and laughs softly. "Oh my word, don't you look like a piece of the sky decided to fall down and visit us honey. Here, give me a hug." He opens his arms. "I'm Raquelle sweetie, and we're going to take care of you." He offers with a soft laugh. "What are you gettin' done?" He looks over towards Kendall innocently.

"Sorry," Laina says to Kendall, a little guiltily, as they walk over to Raquelle. As they get there, Laina smiles at Raquelle's comment on her outfit, and hugs the hairdresser without reservation. As she pulls away, she answers, "Just a trim."

Kendall narrows his eyes suspiciously at Raquelle, but doesn't comment on the so-called 'innocent' look. "Don't think we've had blue hair on the floor, it'll be something new, for sure." heheheh. "Chicken Little over here does a great job with trims." he returns Raquelle's innocent look. Hey, Raq was the one talking about the sky falling.

"Ain't nothin' little about my white meat honey, okaaaaay?" Raquelle gives Kendall a /look/ moving a hand to his waist like he's going to unfasten his pants before winking and pointing Laina to the chair, laughing softly. "I'm so glad you're here honey, you're like a cute blueberry. Go on and have a seat." He looks to Kendall. "Get your apron on honey! I'll put the cape around your first customer."

Laina sits gingerly on the edge of the chair, but doesn't lean back. Instead, she looks from Raquelle to Kendall. "Umm … Have you ever cut hair before?" When Raquelle said 'first customer', did he mean 'first paying customer', as in, 'has cut plenty of hair in beauty school', or did he mean 'first customer', like, ever?

"Wait, what?" Kendall blinks at Raquelle. "Don't I need to go to a school or something before I do that?" cue 'beauty school dropout' playing in the background.

Raquelle rolls his eyes. "Don't worry honey." He pats Laina's shoulder, draping the cape around the woman, nose wrinkling and expression as innocent as possible. He waggles his eyebrows. "I'm right here and /I/ am a professional." He points to Kendall. "Put the apron on, it is just a trim honey, you have to get practice before you even know if you want to go to school or anything." He looks back to Laina. "This trim'll be on the house, you're just the adorable little cutie pie I've been waiting for."

Laina once again looks back and forth between Kendall and Raquelle. To Raquelle, she says slowly, "I guess … " To Kendall, she asks, "Would it be easier if my hair was all one color?" She still hasn't leaned back in the chair.

"Eh, I don't see how it'd matter. Hair gets cut regardless, right?" and Kendall frowns at Raquelle. "But what if I mess up? Shouldn't I practice on a dummy or something? I don't want to get blamed for a fashion malfunction."

"I will give you a bonus this week and take a couple boxes of condoms from you to hide in my cupboard without tellin' our mutual friend so you don't have to look at them." Raquelle offers with a smirk as he nods a bit to Laina. "Sit back, relax, we'll take care of ya. What's your name honey?" He selects a comb and some scissors offering them to Kendall with a shrug of his shoulders, getting the spritz bottle out.

Laina is a bit confused about the whole condoms discussion, but it clearly doesn't concern her. What does concern her is a teenager with no formal or informal training cutting her hair. This really goes against her better judgment. "I'm Laina. But I'm really not so sure this is a good idea."

"That makes two of us." Kendall is quick to agree. "Uh, her hair looks nice the way it is, but I'm sure it'd look a lot better if you cut it for her. I'd just mess it up." the scissors are eyed, and he shakes his head. People are handing him sharp objects! That's a no-no!

Raquelle just facepalms as he sighs softly and looks to Kendall. "Honey, do you know how much /stress/ it will take off my ass if I have some type of…you know what, nevermind sweetie." He sighs and shakes his head, getting his own scissors and the thin comb from a pocket of his apron, spritzing the woman's hair quickly and efficiently. "Just watch me this time." He gives Laina a chin-up. "Please don't move baby, this won't take long."

As it's agreed that Raquelle is going to do the cutting, Laina finally relaxes into the chair. "If you need help, I can do coloring." She grins as, suddenly, from the roots down, her hair turns blonde. The whole change only takes a couple seconds.

Kendall blinkblinks at Laina. "Huh… that's pretty cool. And here I thought I was the only one who can change appearances!" he grins at her, then steps back as Raquelle starts cutting hair. "Although I probably wouldn't do anything to surprise the one cutting your hair!" because if it were Kendall he might've chopped off an ear in surprise.

Raquelle pauses and just stares at the change of color with a quirk of an eyebrow and a shake of his head. "Ah…if you want it another color baby and you can handle it, then you go on ahead and do it but ah…" He just eyes Kendall and Laina as they are so open about their abilities and he goes back to snipping and cutting professionally and quickly as he keeps things even, combing it out and working.

"Yeah, probably a good call," Laina agrees with Kendall. After Raquelle fades off, Laina says, "I understand." Back to Kendall, she explains, "I can change the color of things. It's permanent, unless I change it again. With hair, it works just like dye, only doesn't damage the hair and doesn't fade. But it grows out at the same rate as normal."

"Ah, so you're not like Rapunzel in Tangled." Kendall nods sagely. He references movies an awful lot, he must have a lot of free time. "cutting your hair doesn't change the color."

"Lovely, then you obviously won't be comin' to see me to let me work my stylistic magic." Raquelle flashes a grin and continues to snip away, combing away as he makes sure things are even and then he steps back to examine his work before doing a touch up. "Sometimes I wonder if that girl had that much hair on her /head/…" He trails off and shudders. "Okay baby, you're allll done."

Laina laughs at Kendall's reference. "No, the color has nothing to do with the length," she says to Kendall. "Usually, the only thing that determines the color is my mood in the morning." Then she cringes a bit at Raquelle's joke. She hops out of the chair. "Thanks!" Adding, for fairness, "Since you did the cutting, how much do I owe you?"
