Scene Title Hello From Tokyo II
Synopsis Another phone call from Adam.
Date May 15, 2009

Tokyo, Japan to New York City, USA

Adam is considering the Tokyo skyline from his hotel room. He has some more hours before all the kidnapping and explosions and murder starts. In the meantime, he decides to call New York. Bee boop bee boop boop.

The phone rings, and rings, and rings, and ri - "Mrrrello?" inquires a sleepy voice.

Adam hmms from his end of the phone, "I took you for an early riser, Zoe."

"Adam!" Her voice is husky from sleep, but pleased to hear from him. "It's good to hear your voice. Are you safe?"

"Safe as houses." he says in response, "How are you?"

"Awake." she says, but sounds cheerful for it. There's a sound of movement, like she's shifting in her bed. "How much longer do you think you'll be?"

Adam seems to consider that, then says, "Probably a week. Possibly a week and a half. Japan is quite…active."

"Is that what you call it." Zoe says with faint humor. "I hope you're back in New York soon." A hand is rested against her chest as she says it, because it is both true and somewhat frightening for her to say. She still feels guilty about what happened between her and Eliot.

Adam mms, "I hope I'm back in New York soon as well, to be honest. I'm looking forward to seeing you once I'm back."

"Adam," she starts to say, and then, "Is there anything I can do for you here? Anything at all?"

Adam seems to consider that and then says, "Just keep yourself safe, I would hate to come back and not find you there. Or not wanting to see me."

"I don't think that's possible." Zoe tells him. "I'll be here, I promise." Then, "So what did you get me?" Her voice takes on an amused tone. Seriously, he doesn't have to get her anything. The fact that she's enjoying this phone conversation is enough to make her feel like her gut has been punched when she thinks about the fact that Adam may be set to kill Daniel. It's an ugly shadow over everything.

Adam replies, "There's this pink backpack with something called a Hello Kitty on it. I thought you'd like that."

Zoe can't help it, she bursts into giggles, and is somewhat torn about confessing that she does in fact, kind of like Hello Kitty. She doesn't even have an answer. "I can't imagine what I'd ever get you for anything. You've probably got two of everything anyone could possibly give you."

Adam chuckles, two of everything? That's a bit of an exaggeration. "Well.." he says somewhat coyly, "I'm sure I'll think of something you can give me…"

"Oh really?" she drawls. "And just what would that be?"

Adam chuckles, "Well, if you can't use your imagination, I've got a lot to teach you."

Zoe murmurs, and he can almost hear the blush across the signal bounce, New York to Tokyo and back, "I can use my imagination."

Adam chuckles, "Well then, I think we're on the right track." he pauses, "So, you haven't gotten yourself in any trouble right?"

"Am I the sort of woman who gets herself in trouble?" Zoe counters. "Unless it's yourself you're speaking of."

"Oh, I guarantee you Zoe, I'm Mr. Trouble." he says with a chuckle. "Perhaps I should let you get back to sleep."

"I'm starting to get that." She…purrs? Did she just purr at him? "Sooner you get to what you're doing, the sooner you'll be back."

Adam chuckles, "Oh, you've certainly set yourself up for a time of it. Alright, Zoe. I'll call you sooner to when I'm leaving."

"Have I?" she asks, now intrigued, then, "Please do. Any time. Be safe, Adam."

"I will, you should too."

"Of course." Zoe murmurs, and with that, she moves the phone back to the cradle. "Oh god," she murmurs faintly into her pillow. "What am I doing?"

Adam smirks into his phone for a moment, "Well, she's certainly living up to the librarian stereotype."
