Date September 13, 2009

Biddy Flannigan's Irish Pub

Ambient lighting blankets the establishment in a soft luminescence, glowing in tones of appealing orange from the front face of the bar and low hanging light fixtures overhead. Old style brick walls given the pub an appealing depth, reflecting the tone of lights in a more amber hue down upon the lengths of the polished, wooden floors. The bar counter of lacquered dark wood stretches along the northern wall, the forefront for shelves of numerous liquors and the substantially sized LCD televisions spaced liberally behind it. The screens flicker with the latest games and news as the labeled spirit bottles wink from lighted shelves with a beckon of their own. Barstools and high tables welcome tipsy patrons to their support, scattered with throughout the barroom with a few wedge into the darker, quieter, and more secretive recesses. Over the bar are a few banners of sports teams, most notably one of English football club Manchester United.

The thick wooden door to the west is fitted with a single neon sign sponsored by one of the brews on tap, glowing in the door's center window to shed its light onto the sidewalk outside and summoning in new customers when the bar is open for business.

This morning she was feeling somewhat better or at least in her mind. So Kaylee decided to actually go into work today, probably not the brightest idea. About an hour into her typical double shift, she realized she's not any better. In fact, the smell of all the food was actually turning her stomach, not just the nachos. However, she wasn't going to ask Mack to let her go home, so she continued to endure.

"Rebecca.. I really need to you take my tables food to them." Kaylee murmurs to the other waitress working. "Just… trust me on this." The blonde's face is extremely pale and she swallows hard. "Please??" She practically pleas, that grabs Mack's attention and his moves down to eye her.

"I think you, young lady, need to go home." He states pointedly.

This gets a sigh from Kaylee, "I'm tired of being stuck at home. As it is, my paycheck is going to suck." She slides to sit on a stool, as Rebecca moves on to do as she asks. "Plus. I take more time off Adam is going to start wondering what mischief I'm getting into." She crossing her arms, she rests them on the bar and drops her head to rest on them, with a sigh.

Mack sighs as well and slowly shakes his head, "I'll get you some ginger ale."

Ash pushes open the door and steps into the pub, his eyes lazily looking around. The man looks half asleep, either exhausted, or he just woke up, only reinforced by the huge yawn that he lifts his hand to cover. he makes his way towards the table in teh corner, then glances around, noticing Kaylee and a deep frown touches his lips. He moves over towards her stool, his walk slow as he approaches, a very deep concern on the man's features as he slips up to her side and settles in against the bar, peering over at her. "Kaylee. I want to ask you a question, but I don't want you getting pissed off."

Her head lifts slowly at the sound of a familiar voice and Kaylee sighs, "If your going to ask me to go see the doctor… I'm fine." She's rather cranky and unlike herself today. Rebecca about that time, walks past the pair with a tray full of bar food. The blonde telepath grimaces and gives a pained look at the smell of the food hits them. "Look.. right now….." She pauses and she goes a bit paler, eyes widening. One wouldn't know that she could move so fast, as Kaylee makes a mad dash into the bathroom.

A few minutes later a rather embarrassed Kaylee slides back onto her stool and grabs the glass of ginger ale left for her.

Ash shakes his head to the question that the woman asks him. He pulls himself up onto the stool next to her, waiting for her to go on her little rant that he figures is coming, only for it to cut short as she darts off ot the bathroom. He chuckles a little bit at that. "Well, at least her being sick is good for something.." he waits until she comes back out and slips onto the stool. "Nope. You going to the doctor is your choice, and what is me going to tell you to going to do other than irritate you? Nope… I'd like to know something else entirely." He looks to the bartender and calls for a beer, then glances over to the woman again. "You okay?"

"What do you think?" Kaylee snaps irritably at the question, she pulls the glass closer and takes a sip. When the glass touches the bartop she answers, "I've been sick for a week.. and just now… I can add throwing up." Making a face, she pushes the glass away. "So no.. I'm not okay. I'm getting worse, not better." Propping her elbow on the counter she turns her head to rest it on her open palm, so that she can look at him. "That what you wanted to know?"

Ash shakes his head slowly to that little snippy question, ignoring the grumpyness in the rest of the words. He sighs softly and leans forwards, resting his elbows on the bar top, and he reaches out, touching Kaylee's hand, not wishing to speak aloud about this, letting her skim his surface thoughts if she so desires. And sitting there in them, is his question. «Who the fuck knocked you up Kaylee?» His eyes worried, a touch angry, but mostly worried about the little woman that's sitting next to him. «I'm worried about you Kay, but I know you can take care of yourself.»

Brows drops a bit as he leans closer and Kaylee takes the clue of what he wants. Her mind brushes his, he can feel the slight pressure this time. What she finds there makes her look rather amused. "Are you serious?" She almost sounds a touch mocking. She leans closer to him and her voice echoes in his brain, metallic and hollow. «I'm not pregnant.» That's all she says to him, before she leans back and reaches for her drink again, taking a sip.

Ash looks over at her, watching her, watching the amusement on her face. When she asks if he's serious his head tilts forwards. He is indeed serious. There is a light smile on the man's lips, but he's waiting for an answer. "Are you sure? Have you checked?" His voice curious as he asks it, not bothering with the mind speak now, as long as she knows what he's talking about he can talk without alluding to the subject of the conversation. He takes a sip of his own beer, watching her. "Cause seems to me like you have all the symptoms Kay."

"I'm not." Kaylee draws out those words, making sure the emphasize them. "And no I haven't. I don't have to. I'm not pregnant." Those last words are said softly enough they don't go beyond them. "My breasts are not tender.. That's usually a big clue," She leans closer, with a smug grin, "You wanna check?" She's obviously teasing, cause she knows he won't, but she's feeling bitchy.

Ash looks over to Kaylee as she says she's not, then admits to not having checked, then insists she's nto pregnant. A loud snort of disbelief is given to her statement. "You don't know you're not, and you need to get checked. Telling me you're not and admitting you haven't checked is pretty arrogant Kaylee." He shrugs a bit, his large shoulders lifting up before dropping back down. "Somehow, I think Adam would cut my hands off." He smirks a touch, but she'd be able to tell that he does indeed seem to believe she's pregnant, especially since she's so defensive about it.

"Not to mention you also don't want me to fucking with your brain if you do." Kaylee says with a big grin and then a wink. But the grin drops away quickly and she sighs. "My love life hasn't exactly been an active one, Ash. Especially, since a few weeks ago was……" she trails off with a dismissive wave of her hand. "So there is no way I am unless it's some miracle." She gives him a look, "So just drop it." Her arms cross on the bar top again and she rests her head on her arms. "I should go in…. "

Ash sighs softly at her insistence that she's not pregnant. "You can't know for sure until you get checked Kaylee. Ever heard of jesus? That was a miracle and a half yah know." he winks at her, a light smile on his lips. One of his huge hands reaches out to rest on her back, giving it a slow rubbing, up and down her spine in a comforting and caring manner. "Go home Kay, take a load off and just chill the fuck out, get some rest. We need you in top form girl, who's going to protect me from gun wielding mercenaries if you're not there?" He leans in, offerinmg her a chaste hug before his hand drops away.

"You know.. I really think Lola was right." Kaylee sits up and slides off the stool. "I am the baby of this twisted little family unit." Draping an arm over the large man's shoulder, Kaylee leans over to plant a chaste kiss on his temple. "Thanks for kinda caring, Ash. I'm heading to the hospital." She doesn't sound happy about the decision. "Maybe they can give me something for my stomach." She gives his arm an affectionate punch. "I'll let you now what they said. And if I am pregnant. I'll let you tell Adam." She pats his back and calls to Mack for her riding gear.

Ash looks over to her, his eyes concerned, but he's trying to hide it. "You are, but there's nothing wrong with it Kaylee. We care about yah, is that so wrong?" He shrugs his shoulders, taking the kiss and the punch to his arm. "Let me know if you need anything Kay. I'll do what I can, and hell no. If you're pregnant Grim gets to tell him." he winks at her, a sly little look to his eyes as he slips off of his stool and leans back against the bar. "Want me to drive? You're not exactly the most steady of people at the moment."

Kaylee pauses in the middle of putting on her jacket, and glances back at him. She actually looks like she's considering what he's offering. "Actually.. Could you drop me off at the entrance of the ER? Being Sunday and all…" She rolls her eyes and smiles a bit. "I get to spend hours twittling my thumbs waiting to be seen. I can get a taxi home." She finishes putting on her jacket and frowns a bit, "Just… don't tell Adam? Last thing I need is for him to think what you are. He might gut any of the guys I've been with before we know for sure."

Ash hmmms and his head nods as he grabs up his coat and shrugs it back onto his shoulders, looking around a bit before he drains his beer down and looks over at her. "I'd rather make sure you get there safe and sound than wonder. And no, I'm not going to tell Adam." He smiles and wraps his arm around her shouluders, another quick hug. "Lets get you to the hospital and then you call me when you get done and know what's wrong got it?"

Sighing, Kaylee wraps her arms around his waist and leans against him briefly, with a smirk. "Yeah yeah, Bro… Let's go." She gives him a light tug towards the door, "Just be ready to pull over. I still feel like I could throw up."
