Scene Title Ill Omens Bring Bad Tidings, Part III
Synopsis Silas conveys a burden to its destination. Would that all burdens could be so easily set down.
Date July 5, 2021

A body sits in the middle of the Green Lantern restaurant in the ruins of Toledo. If anyone had been there, they would have seen a coffin, imagined into being over the corpse of Levi Walker… but there is no one here to see. The faint puff of air that drifts through the ruined restaurant surely isn't from the door opening and closing, just long enough for no one, no one at all to trudge inside.

A few moments later, there's another corpse beside Walker's. It's an old woman — Natalie Gray. Were there somebody there to see it, they might say she looks peaceful — certainly more peaceful than Levi does, but then, Natalie had had a stay of grace, and for it had been afforded a measure of dignity. Her eyes and mouth are closed, her hands crossed over her chest — they stay that way thanks to quick work before the rigor mortis had set in. For a moment longer, there is no one there… and then, with a sigh, suddenly there is. Silas Mackenzie stands over the two corpses, looking haggard and worn; he bows his head and speaks. "You spent a long time adrift on the currents, before you came to the Pelago; now you're gone from us again. Your struggles are at an end; whether you're carried by the currents of the seas or borne aloft on the winds, I don't know. Whichever it may be… may your journey be smooth, and carry you to rest on a peaceful shore."

Silas squeezes his eyes shut, swaying slightly, and leans back against the counter; he takes a moment to catch his breath, here in the quiet and the dark. Alone — that, most of all.

Then he's gone again, and if his footfalls are heavy and shuffling, if the door creaks on the way out… nobody hears.
