Stairwell outside Abby's Apartment
After the contact with Cat, Elisabeth is unsure of how long to keep quiet. She finally decides that at the very least, Cardinal ought to know people are turning up — just more slowly than expected. Since he and Liz are sharing the keeping an eye on Abby in case DHS links her to the event and tries to grab her, she waits until one of the times that she's heading out of Abby's — she calls him outside the apartment and has him meet her in the stairwell of the building.
Of course, he doesn't show up in person. Now that he knows there's someone that's been surveilling her, he shows up as only a presence in the stairwell, a deepening of the shadows about her. "Harrison," the shadows stir, "What's up?"
"I just wanted to let you know," Elisabeth says quietly, "that I heard from Cat and Wireless. Some complications came up during the raid — apparently a bunch of our people got scattered about. Teleported through space and time to some degree. Cat popped up about 12 hours after the raid, but some of the others are still missing. We're not panicking yet — the fact that Cat showed up means that eventually the others will too. But Cat's given orders for Abby to not be told yet, just in case they're watching her. She's an open book when it comes to relief, you know?"
"Christ. Teleported — Nakamura, or someone else? And what happened with the raid itself? Successful, or did they get scattered before they did anything…?" A sigh rasps in the shadows, "Wonderful."
Elisabeth shakes her head. "I have no idea. Cat said Hiro seemed surprised by what happened, so…. maybe something else. Maybe a combination of effects. Just no way to know until we regroup," she says quietly. "Cat says that she did see a number of people scatter, she's not sure how many got on the plane. I haven't heard anything from the folks handling the plane side of things. It's just…. a huge clusterfuck so far."
The shadow stirs in a sound of irritation, "What a clusterfuck. I'm deeply impressed by their planning — they'd better have accomplished their goal, at least. I'll let you know if I hear from Fedor." A pause, "Who's Wireless?"
There's a shrug. "One of our contacts. A technopath. He or she's monitoring all the communications links," Liz tells him quietly. "Wireless will let us know as soon as people are spotted on the radar, but … some of the comm gear may have been fried, and Cat found herself in Nebraska somewhere, so there's no telling where others of the group landed." She hesitates. "Some may even still be in the prison. And hell…. some, for all we know, won't show up for a year. If they're scattered in time…" That thought hadn't occured to her til just now. "Oh shit. Now there's a suck thought."
"So what you're telling me is… Phoenix's communication network has been entirely disrupted and you have no idea where the majority of your membership and leadership even /are/ at the moment?" There's a long moment's silence, "Wonderful."
Elisabeth nods slowly. "That about sums it up, yah."
"Great." A quiet moment, "If there's any developments, get in touch."
Elisabeth chuckles softly. "I will. Talk to you soon, Richard." And then she slips out of the stairwell.
