Mount Hope, also known as Upper Mount Hope and Strong-Mt. Hope, is a mixed commercial and residential neighborhood centered on the University of Rochester Medical Center and Monroe Community Hospital. It is home to the highest number of healthcare professionals in the Rochester area, though much of the neighborhood is abandoned due to the population decline. Many of the remaining residential medical staff are long-time residents of Rochester who chose to remain in their home town during the civil war. Mount Hope is ideally situated for its purpose and is a walking-friendly part of the city with abundant sidewalks and pedestrian passes. Much of the structures in Mount Hope, though abandoned, have not fallen into total dereliction.
