It ends with Amato getting a round of buckshot in the shoulder, and an uncomfortable introduction to an old friend of his master's.

		In a melodramatic chain of events, Amato goes from being a somewhat productive member of the Garden household, to a hermit, and finally to being a shepherd at the Mount Moriah Monastery in New York State.
