The Bunker

Hurried footsteps proceed the knock on the door late at night, the knocks Lucille tries to dampen but it can't be helped and she bites her lip as she steps back to look up and down the hall. Pale blue eyes wide, she must had just made it home from that crazy ass event. She was more in her feelings about seeing the man that she would marry in a future that wouldn't happen now.

Things had changed.

And so had she in so many ways, the shock of seeing Anders though threatened to undo all the work Lucille had done to herself, managing her emotions. Tonight she feels anxious, excited. All at once. There's a bit of fear there as well behind her eyes. Dark clothing still from the previous hours on, she hadn't even changed yet. There was a bottle of liquor in her hand though, well. She had made a stop.

Berlin opens the door fairly quickly, eyes squinting as she tries to wake up and actually see who is on the other side. Her hair is a mess and she's in pajamas, but when she sees that it's Luce, she greets her with a smile. "Hey," she starts, but she seems to notice mid-word that something's not right and her tone turns more serious, "What's wrong?"

She steps back, giving Luce space to come in while she leans against the door for support. "Come in, sit down, you look nervous." Berlin leans out the door once Lucille is in, checking to make sure everything is okay out there before she closes the door behind them.

“Fuck Burr,”

Lucile speed walks through the door and paces in the room, seeing the Ryans woman this out of sorts is unusual even for Berlin and Lucille regresses to the age old habit she nixed finally when she starting walking on the runway, biting her nails. Her hand that does carry the bottle of alcohol goes to massage her neck. “You know like.. that Adel and Noa are from a different er future? Timeline?”

She's having trouble getting it out and Lucille sits on the edge of the bed with a wide eyed expression as she rips the top of the bottle off and guzzles down some tequila, a trail of in on her chin. “Well I'm married there apparently and have a kid right? Well I met.. my fucking husband.” Live blows out a long breath and it seems to deflate her as she caves her shoulders in on themselves. “Except he's not my fucking husband here.”

The state her friend is in has Berlin following her along with a frown. She nods to the question, the weirdness of many of the Hounds is well known around the bunker. Otherwise, she let's Luce work her way around to what the problem is. Even if she needs the tequila to do it.

"Married?" Berlin's surprise isn't hidden, she isn't even trying to hide it. "Okay, that's… I mean, that's just weird, isn't it? Was he a good husband? Was he nice here?" There's a pause before she adds, "Is he cute?" These are the important questions. Or, at least, they're the questions Berlin is using to bring Lucille back to her usual self.

“Married.” Lucille confirms while guzzling more of the tequila down and handing it off to Berlin. “It's weird as fuck man.” Shaking her hand out as if to shake the very weirdness from her life. “He’s… pretty nice. Very funny.”

Thinking to their back and forth she smiles and looks up at the ceiling with a roll of her eyes and feet planted over the edge of the bed on the floor, “He's pretty cute.” She laughs at that, Luce feels like she's back in high school but that is not the case.

“I'm kind of thrown for a loop here.”

“He's pretty muscular. Can turn invisible.”

Berlin listens, her smile growing crooked the more Lice adds to the description of her not-husband. "Alright, so this other version of you has good taste, at least. So it's not bad, right?"

She nudges Lucille a little, chuckling quietly. "Well, what are you gonna do? It wouldn't hurt to date, right? See how it goes." She blinks, then something occurs to her. "Does he know about the other future with the marriage and everything?"

“He doesn’t know… I feel like I should tell him. It would feel weird not doing that.” Lucille wrinkles her nose, “Date, I could try it.” It had been so long, Tahir being the only male contact she really entertained.. Well and Limerick.. And she shudders at the thought of the merc. Swallowing down more tequila before passing it over to Berlin, “I’m shit at that, I use to be way more open.. I had be closed off for too long.” A sad fact, “Things have changed though… thanks to the scar being gone.” And her ability stabilizing, something she still needed to investigate with her girls.

But tonight is boys, boys boys.

“I didn’t forget, you went on a date young lady.” Taking in a faux older than she is tone, “How did it go with Mister Rory?” Not at all let on that she had experienced the same thing as her friend, or that Lucille had punched a man in the throat. That was exhilarating and it was hard to admit though Wolfhound understands the need for bloodlust. Pale blue eyes access her friend for her body language, cued in to her so as to see how things were. “Did you walk under the moonlight? Sing to the sky and drink wine, details, NOW!” Snickering.

"That'll be a fun conversation. You should record his face when you tell him you had a dream that you guys were married," Berlin says, her smile crooked and impish. She takes the tequila and also a drink of it. It turns out to be a longer drink than usual. "Our job makes being open a little hard, too, doesn't it? Hi, we were married and also I hunt people down for a living. Could give an interesting impression."

When the conversation is turned her way, Berlin's eyes widen. Like maybe she had hoped Luce forgot. But a moment later, she chuckles— her smile widening even though she scrunches her nose in an attempt to hide it. "It was weird. I think there was some kind of emotion manipulator there. Everyone at the concert went a little ragey. I punched a guy out cold. But once we got out of the area, we had a nice walk trying to find a place to eat in the safe zone on the fourth of july," she says, dryly. Because that was not easy to do, all things being what they are. "But he did not get freaked out by me fighting a random guy at a concert. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing." By her smile, though, it's a good thing.

“He’s such a smartass he’ll probably say I’m just smitten.” Rolling her eyes again with the hint of a smile on her lips, the liquor is doing it’s job to calm her down a light buzz settling over her body and she sways slightly, “Boy does it ever, I mean I don’t want to scare him away.” Wolfhound had a reputation, they weren’t the bad guys but they weren’t necessarily the nice guys either. War and death and all. Vendettas, the usual. Lucille’s eyes travel to Berlin’s face as she talks about the date. Eyebrows wiggling at her friend and it’s not as if she forgot about that rage that had also coursed through her but she bites back telling Berlin still, unsure on her reaction. Well she was just being a good friend right? Making sure the guy wasn’t a creep.

“Like Huruma?” Head tilting in a feign of confusion, just hearing the news for the first time. She had been wondering herself and the events at the bar with Devon come to mind, “I swear something similar happened with me and Dev, it was like all of a sudden I didn’t want to be around him, he made me feel uneasy as if I couldn’t trust him,” it’s offered thoughtfully and a strand of auburn hair falls into her pale blue eyes that are narrowed in thought. Someone running amok with an ability like Huruma wasn’t good news, especially with how things were going in the Safe Zone with the food shortages and such.

That moment of tension is broken by the snicker about Berlin kicking ass, “Well at least he knows you can protect his honor.” teasingly as Luce swipes the bottle to take another healthy sip. “Sounds like a good thing to me Burr. Still need to meet him.” The big sister in her looms metaphorically over the smaller woman good naturedly though, “I won’t bite I promise.”

"Yeah, very much like Huruma." Berlin tilts her head when Luce mentions her and Devon going through their emotional wreck, too. "Well… that's not good," she says, mildly. The look on her face says differently, though. Concern crinkles her brow. "Once is a mistake. Twice is something else. We should look into it, Luce. If someone is playing games with the Safe Zone— that could end badly, even if they don't mean it to." She manages to take a drink before the bottle gets pulled away from her, which makes Berlin look back over at her friend.

"I'm more worried about protecting his face than his honor," Berlin says, "or at least, was at the time." Not that she wouldn't again, because of course she would. "Let me figure out if it's even… going anywhere. Okay? I don't want to put him through the trauma of meeting my hound sisters if he's not sticking around very long. Or if I'm not. However it works out." Her expression looks more amused at Lucille's last words, though. "Please don't, I can't compete with that," she says with a chuckle.

That is indeed a scary thought and Lucille rubs her elbow as she thinks about a rogue emotion manipulator on the loose, “Maybe we should shake some bushes and see what falls out,” The older woman comments as she runs a finger on the label of the bottle of liquor. A little extracurricular activity would be good.

“Well his face is cute so,” Lucille’s eyes grow wide and she looks over to the left as if the wall had become very interesting all of a sudden. Tightening her grip on the bottle and taking a deep pull before offering, ‘Wow this shit is good right?” If she could whistle without making herself look like an idiot then she would right this second. A reddish blush creeps on the cheeks of the woman. “Look I wanted to check out the music.”

“I love shaking bushes. Let’s do it.” Berlin wouldn’t be averse to some side work between big missions. Not that things are ever boring around the bunker, not with this group. Still. It’s trouble and it needs looking into.

Plus, if she’s in the safe zone, she can see Rory again.

Not that that’s why she’d be doing it.

Just a bonus.

When Lucille mentions his face, Berlin starts to agree, but as the comment settles into her mind, she gives her friend a suspicious look. “Luce…” As it turns out, she doesn’t even need to interrogate her, though. So she grabs a pillow to thump her with. “That’s bull, you were trying to chaperone!”

“The bush shall be shook.” In a silly tone but Lucille feels excitement brewing in the pit of her stomach of an adventure with her best friend. Her thoughts wander briefly to the other one who sleeps down the hall, she needed to check in with Col she decided. Having Berlin at her back meant things would work out, that's what Lucille told herself.

Speaking of boys.

Honest!” Lucille snickers and falls over backward on the bed as the pillow is thumped into her, “Listen listen, I wanted to see what was up okay! Who knows what can happen, creeps all over still. I'm just ya know backup,” She says with a dismissive wave of her hand as she tries to keep a straight face. “Plus I got to see Pippa,” that's a worthy bonus of sneaking after Berlin as she went on a proper date that went haywire. “Having a date that goes that way says.. at least it’ll never be dull. Most likely.”

Berlin's smile echoes that excitement. She, too, doesn't worry about poking into things, not with her friend with her. If it occurs to her that shaking bushes might bring danger with it, it doesn't show. Or she assumes they'd handle it.

What can't they handle, after all?

When Luce falls over, Berlin laughs and reaches for the bottle— to keep it from spilling, obviously. She takes a drink, too, but that wasn't at all her true intention, of course. "I guess I'm glad I have you to look after me," she says, her tone teasing. Because she really is grateful. "And Pippa is adorable." She's seen the pictures. It's hard to deny. "Did you see him? Rory?" By her smile, by the look in her eye, Rory is ranking pretty high up on The Chart. Even if only in Berlin's mind. "I could stand things being dull every now and then," she comments. Not always, though. Just once in a while.

“Whether ya want it or not,” it was the same for Delia, Devon. Lucille couldn't help herself, she was use to running always in the recent years she's fought hard to turn over that urge and protect the people she loves.

As Berlin nabs the bottle Lucille snorts and rolls forward to a seated position and waits for her friend to take a drink before she swipes back at it and takes a deep pull. “Um fuck yes I saw him and I didn't get a clear shot of his ass but,” her eyebrows waggle, “Looked promising.”

Together the pair laugh and trade more stories. Lucille elaborating more about her run in with her Not Husband, Rory’s potential ass and vicious fights at concerts. It's dull compared to the night they had but Berlin was right, that was okay. There was a bunch of less dull moments they had already been through.

And even more were coming.
