Synopsis Adam and Cardinal exchange information

Old Lucy's

Old Lucy's has a vibrant and lively feel to it, from the dark wooden floors to the shady crimson walls lit up by neon lights and many times, the flashing of cameras from the oft-crowded floor. The mirror behind the bar reflects prices of various drinks, bottles lined up, as well as the entire saloon as seen from the bartenders; bolted-down stools line the other side, and there are loose tables and chairs placed all around, though many times they find themselves pushed back for more space within the center of the saloon. A few speakers are placed at strategic places and around a raised stage to the far corner from the bar. Above the counter, an obviously well-used bar is hung; it is this that the girls working will use should there be dancing, which is one reason many patrons choose to come aside from the drinks. Across the bar and near the back, there is a door that leads to the owner's office and just inside a stairwell that leads a apartment on the floor above the bar.

It's the early evening, the sun just starting to dip beneath the horizon. The crowd at Old Lucy's is just starting to build up, the music beating steadily through the air and the female bartenders shouting out lewd things back at some of the regulars amidst laughter. Cardinal's settled to a table off to one side of the room, legs stretched out, a file folder in his hands that he's flipping through as a glass of beer sits half-emptied beside him.

Adam enters into the bar, alone. Which is rather unusual for him. He doesn't take the time to do his usual grand entrance or to start bantering with anyone, he just looks for Richard Cardinal. And there he is. He makes his way across the bar and sits down opposite the man, "Hello, Richard, hope you're well." he pauses a moment, before tilting his head a moment, "I need information. Now, normally, I'd assume you'd be all…wary and prid pro quo. But it's about a name I've heard you use before in derision." he mms, "So you'll be glad to know that I mean this man no good will. I need you to tell me about John Logan." and there it is. Right to the point.

"John?" Cardinal glances up, the folder slapped shut in a quick motion that causes paper to rustle a bit, and then he drops it off to one side of the table. The man's brows leap up over the edge of his shades, and he asks dryly, "What is it you want to know? He's a piece of shit that thinks he's bigger than he is."

Adam glances towards the folder before it falls, then glances back towards Cardinal, "I need to know what he can do. He wouldn't survive so long with so many people hating him if he wasn't Evolved. I've heard no less than five people say they wished him dead. So…why is he not?" he pauses a moment, "Who does he have working for him? I'm aware of who he works for, at least for the moment."

There's no label on the folder; it could hold anything. "He's sitting under Linderman's umbrella, these days," Cardinal admits with a slight grimace, "That buys you a lot of protection. He's got some sort of— biochemical power, uses it to drug people, and somehow he can use it to negate other peoples' abilities. Which has saved his ass a time or three. The only two people I know he's definately got under him are his bodyguard, some schmuck named Eloni, and Satoru. Who I believe you know."

Adam tilts his head and thinks about it, "Satoru? Bone boy?" he tsks a bit, "Ashame, he always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time." his lips purse a moment. "Who are his enemies, besides everyone? He had something to do with Abby…but I'm not aware what. So I assume everyone who likes Abby." he mms, "Does he have friends that don't work for him?"

Cardinal rolls one shoulder in a shrug, "He kidnapped Abigail for awhile and keep her in his basement. Him and Muldoon were using her to heal up the fighters in his little.. blood and circuses game back there. Pretty much everyone hates the sonuvabitch, honestly, you can't throw a rock in our circles without hitting someone who'd pull the trigger given half a chance. Phoenix, Remnant, probably the Company too…"

Adam doesn't appear to be familiar with Muldoon. But he seems to assume if he was still some sort of player, he would have heard of him. He pauses a moment as Cardinal mentions Remnant. "Really?" he says, "Remnant is in the city? How interesting." he leans back in his seat and nods, "Alright, well…thank you for the information. I think that's everything I need to know for now." he pauses a moment, "So, how are you Richard, doing well? Haven't heard about any of your adventures lately. But be planning things."

"They're around," Cardinal replies evasively, one hand coming up to scratch a bit under his chin, "And no worries there, I don't charge for information that might get that sonuvabitch killed." The hand drops, then, and he lifts a brow before observing amusedly, "If I'm doing my job right, nobody hears about what I'm up to. I'm not Phoenix. I don't want comic books and action figures."

Adam nods a bit, "Well, that's certainly true, Richard. On the other hand, our circles aren't exactly the common circles." he pauses, "But fair enough. Things are all exciting and quiet." he glances over to the bar for a moment, then back towards Cardinal, "Well, good to see you're doing so well."

Cardinal reaches over for the glass set beside him, noting, "They're common circles, whatever you might think. I pay attention to everything everyone's doing, Monroe, and you're certainly important enough to keep an eye on. Someone needs to watch where the world's going."

Adam ahs and nods, "Oh, I'm sure you do. I've got quite a few eyes on me." he shakes his head, "It's silly really. I'm not even doing anything." his head tilts to the side, "Though, I've been curious about this Humanis First business. I haven't had many dealings with them. Have you?"

"I shot a few in the face the other day," Cardinal replies, taking a sip of his beer, "If that counts. I'm really not fans of the organization as a whole, given that I fall under the auspices of their planned genocide… why do you ask?"

Adam shrugs a bit, "The same reason." he says in response, "I'd probably care quite a bit less if I wasn't part of their target demographic. My assumption is, given how evolved their tactics are getting, I'll have to deal with them sometime. I'd say 'Let Phoenix handle it.' but they don't actually….do anything until the world is about to end that I can tell. But maybe I'm too hard on them. They certainly do deface a lot of property at least." he shakes his head, "Anyway, it's always important to know who you'll end up having to deal with eventually."

Cardinal lifts one shoulder in a slight shrug, noting casually, "How good are your… recon people, by the by, Monroe? I might need to hire your little group to find someone for me. It could be a bit tricky, given all the security, but I'd like to keep track of where this person can usually be found, in case I need to find him…"

Adam smiles, "My little group, how quaint." he pauses, "I'd say they're alright. Although part of it would depend on who it is you're attempting to keep track of." he considers the man across from him casually, "And who is it you want to keep track of?"

"Since we were on the topic," Cardinal notes with a faint smile, one brow arching a little bit, "Of Humanis First… their highest place supporter. Mitchell." One assumes he must mean the vice-president, there.

Adam arches a brow, "That guy who what is on the news?" he hmms, "How…" he shrugs a moment, "I suppose it's not surprising. The question is, what could you do about it even if you could keep track of him? You don't seem to be the presidential assassin type."

Cardinal chuckles softly, setting the glass to one side after another sip, vaguely gesturing with his free hand, "Hardly. I'm one of the 'good guys' remember? However, if one of these idiots does decide to go the Lee Harvey route… he can't be allowed to become president. I doubt they will, but I'm big on contingency planning."

Adam nods, "Well.." he says, "I suppose I'll see what I can do." he smiles cordially. He considers Cardinal quietly and says, "Nice to see that you're looking so far ahead. Such hardly any planning goes into things lately." he pauses as he stands from his seat, "Well, thanks for meeting with me, Richard. It has been an illuminating meeting."

"My employer believes in long-term planning," Cardinal replies, leaning back slowly in the chair, "The future can't be left to chance, Adam. There's too much at stake. I'm sure I'll see you around somewhere soon."
