Murder On Roosevelt Island

MANHATTAN — Authorities responding to a 911 call of shots fired in the vicinity of Summer Meadows on Roosevelt Island arrived at the scene of Ichihara Books on main street to discover its owner, Hokuto Ichihara (34) unresponsive and seriously wounded after what appear to have been an apparent break in. New York Times reporter and co-worker Corbin Ayers was present at the scene when paramedics arrived, but Ichihara was unable to be resuscitated, she was pronounced dead a short time later at Roosevelt Island Hospital.

NYPD currently have no leads on Ichihara's killer, but are ruling the investigation a homicide from evidence found at the scene. It is believed that severe winter weather caused by the blizzard contributed to the bookstore owner's death and delaying paramedics from arriving on the scene in time to save her.
