Apartment in Brooklyn

It's not overly spacious, It's a New York area apartment. But it suits it's residents purposes. An open kitchen, crammed with all the accoutrements needed to cook, a dining table shoved against the far wall with chairs tucked in. A livingroom with a fairly new red suede couch shoved up agaisnt a window and TV set opposite on a stand makes up the rest of the communal living area. It looks fairly newly occupied and the personal touches not put to it yet. Five doors down a hall lead to three separate bedrooms, a bathroom and linen closet. What's behind the doors remains a mystery unless one of the residents leaves a door open, though if someone knows the residents, the simple gold cross above one door indicates where the woman in this place lives.

Its a solid two in the afternoon when the call comes, from a number no caller ID will recognize. *ringring* *ringring*

First ring wakes the woman up from her slumber. Second ring is abby sliding from her bed to pad across the room to her new dresser whereupon her phone sits in her purse. It's by the fourth ring that Abby answer, voice tinged with sleep. "Hello?" Even as she's making her way of the bedroom and into the rest of the house. Pila chirping in the background.

"Its Staff Sergeant Powell. Abby, we met at Old Lucy's? Teo's friend right? I would like to enlist your aid in a very delicate matter of great importance. I am willing to discuss methods of just compensation for your efforts."Chris's voice was smooth, devoid of any accent at all.

Pila's chirping continues, abby's breathing, not so for the moment but the line is quickly filled with "I'm sorry staff Sergeant Powell, but, I need to ask you what I did at Old Lucy's no offense. And I think you know what I mean. Or i'm going to hang up" Her voice filled with caution and strain. One can almost see what she's doing right now which is her kneeling over the couch to look out their window and down at the street, hoping to catch a glimpse of anyone unusual.

Christian luckily, hasn't ever been to Teo's when Pila is awake. "You held my hand, fixed my knees. I warned you against being stupid and getting your head taken apart. Your wise to be careful, I'm glad to see your being paranoid. Does my answer satisfy your concerns?"

"Fool me once, shame on you Powell, fool me twice, shame on me. Where do I need to be, or do I just need to go outside my door? My scooters broken right now" She's still searching, Left, right, look in the alley.. like a little hawk.

"I need to offer compensation. I already owe your friends, and I find the idea of letting you work for free to be untennable. How can I make your situation better, how can I help you Abby? Do you need me get you a proper scooter?"Not like her current scooter was -improper- mind you.

"I'm not my friends. I don't take compensation, even from them for what I do. How do I get to you?" It's a firm thing, she won't budge.

"and I am uncomfortable with charity. If you do this, you'll need to remain indoors and at this location for some time. You will be made aware of information which men would undoubtedly murder for, torture you for. Do you understand?"

And that was new how? "My boss has… been very generous with giving me time off. Again, Powell, how do I get to you?" She'd have to leave a note for teo or.. "You'll have to tell Teo. I don't need him worrying that someone's snatched me" She's got enough cash to leave it with Teo for this month. Bills, things she has to take care of now.

"I'll come to you, I know exactly where you are. Meet me on the street, look for the motorcycle with a sidecar. Take one satchel, additional clothing and such will be provided as needed at the location. I can provide secure phone communications with Teo for you, but nobody will be allowed to visit. Do you understand, this will be like a voluntary prison sentence. Your communications and movements will be monitored and controlled."

There's another pause, uncertain. "I have to be able to go to church on sundays. Doesn't matter where, just that I'm there. This isn't something I can break Powell. That's my cost. And my bills are paid for the apartment, all of them, while i'm with you. I won't neglect my share of costs" is added on as a second thought

"Then I thank you very much for your time Abigail, I regret to have bothered you. I hope to see you again sometime, and wish you the best of luck in your endeavors. Goodbye."-click-. Simple enough wasn't it, well at least with Christian things tended to be exactly as advertised.

Abby stares at the phone when Christian hangs up. She ends the thing on her end though, staring out the window. What the hell had christian been asking her to do? "Pila… I think he stepped into a pile of something…" Her gaze goes back to the phone in her hand before she thumbs t the last incoming number. 'I think I screwed up again Pila"
