QUEENS — At 1:45am Fire and Rescue responded to a call of an apartment fire at 1044 Freeman Street. By the time the NYFD arrived on scene the entire apartment building had been engulfed in flames. Despite their best efforts to salvage the building, the structure was unable to be saved but the fire was contained to the apartment complex.
NYPD investigating the building following the blaze discovered that a family of three displaced by the bomb whom had been squatting in the building were trapped by the fire and were unable to make it out. Authorities were alerted to their potential presence by the neighbors who had called to report the blaze.
Tanya and Garth Raymonde and their thirteen year old son Brandon died in the fire which authorities are calling suspicious. An arson investigation's results are pending.
