Fire at Red Hook MarketA Christmas tree caught fire Wednesday night just inside the doorway of the Red Hook Market, causing a non-life-threatening burn injury to a 14-year-old boy who tried to use the main exit instead of evacuating through a side entrance.
The fire was reported about 7:35 pm and engines were almost immediately on the scene to pacify the flames. The fire would have spread much further were it not for the assistance of an SLC-E good samaritan who put themselves in harm's way to contain the flames with a force field of some kind until the fire department arrived.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
