BEIJING, CHINA — A court in Beijing has sentenced Praxis Heavy Industries CEO Ju-long Lung-Wei to life in prison Friday for his involvement in the support of international terrorist organization Mazdak and his company's flagrant disregard of international cloning bans and genetic experimentation, as well as a host of other charges including unlawful imprisonment and treason against the Chinese government.

Lung-Wei, 76, pleaded not guilty and plans to appeal, said his Guangzhou-based lawyer, Chen Weixiong, who argued there was insufficient evidence to prove Lung-Wei was aware of the crimes that Praxis Heavy Industries is accused of.

Under Chinese law, Lung-Wei will be eligible for parole after serving a minimum of 15 years.
