Village Renaissance: Elaine and Quinn's Flat

It's with a yawn, as opposed to some sort of shout that would indicate her presence that Robyn Quinn responds to the knock on her door. Eyes half lidded, she slowly rises up from her spot on her couch, Junko mimicking the yawn as she does. Pieces of paper litter the coffee table, notes and words scrawled across them, quickly gathered up into a pile and set aside.

It's been a little bit since Quinn left her message for Magnes, requesting he stop by - she didn't say why, she figured that was better left for actually having him present, and she didn't want to cross town in the snow with Junko in tow unless she had to. Slowly making her way to the door, she pulls it open with a silent smile, not even looking before she turns and starts back towards the couch.

Magnes closes the door behind him and follows her to the couch, taking a seat on the opposite side. He eyes the baby, then Quinn, scratching his head a few times. "Um, why is there a baby?" he asks while looking over the papers on the table, a bit curious.

"Babysitting," is a simple enough response, Quinn shrugging as she picks up the papers from the table and places them in her lap, leaning over Junko and smiling. "Her name's Junko. I'm hoping she doesn't spit up on my couch, that would be terrible." Laughing a bit, she slouches her shoulders, looking towards the kitchen. "Wanna drink?" she asks casually enough, before looking back over at Magnes. "The baby's not why I asked you t' come by, though. I was wonderin' if you've talked t' Elaine at all."

"Oh, no, not really… things are a bit awkward with us, I've been trying not to think about her since I just end up wanting to come crawling back on my hands and knees." Magnes admits with a helpless shrug, then offers his finger to Junko, his only baby technique. "And sure, I'll have a drink."

The finger is really one of the few baby techniques Quinn knows too, so Junko's seemingly become accustomed to it over the last few days, her little hands reaching and grasping at Magnes' finger. Quinn lets out a bit of a defeated digh as she rustles though the pieces of paper, sliding one out on to the table in front of her and Magnes. It reads "I made you breakfest, baking instructions are on the back. Don't worry. Love, Elaine."

"I want you to listen t' me carefully, Magnes. I don't want you runnin' off an' lookin' or doin' somethin' silly, but… I was kinda hopin' you'd heard from Elaine because I don't know where she is." She starts towards the kitchen, still talking as she makes her way to teh fridge. "She left me that note and just kinda left the other day. Left her cell phone, took some clothes. I don't think- something's foul about it. I'm just kinda… worried. Last time she up an' ran off, I had pissed her off real bad an' I'm worried somethin's wrong. That or she took some sorta wilderness sabbatical an' decided not t' tell anyone."

"Maybe it was me… maybe she doesn't want to be around me anymore. I keep visiting and she's probably sick of it…" Magnes stares down at the note, then lays his head back, sighing. "I don't know how to help. I can ask some people."

"If it was you, Magnes, she wouldn't have just up an' left like that. Sable hasn't talked t' her either, despite bein' back an' at Dee's. Ygraine either, an' she wasn't on POllepel. So… it's more than just that, I'm sure." She returns to the room with two glass bottle Coca-Cola's in hand, one handed over to Magnes. "Asking around would be good. I'd really appreciate it."

"I feel like such a failure." Magnes takes the glass, not drinking yet, just staring down into it. "I'm spending so much time trying to pretend I didn't have a girlfriend, I wasn't thinking of how she might be feeling. I just… no matter how you look at it, in some way I had some hand in this."

"Oh, get over yourself," Quinn replies, though it's said with an amicable tone that's a bit of a surprise to even herself. "If that makes you a failure, not knowin' how she's feelin', it makes the whole lot of us failures. She's just been… I dunno. Stressed an' shit lately. She was kinda distant about some things when we went t' dinner at the ORchid Lounge last week. I really don't think this is your fault, Magnes."

"If you say so, Quinn." Magnes stands up, his mood definitely gloomy as he heads to the door, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his black fleece. "I should get going, I'll see if anyone has any clues on where she might be."

A long sigh escapes Quinn as she rises up to her feet, shaking her head. "You don't have t' take off Magnes." She rolls her shoulders, looking back down to Junko once more before she crosses around the sofa after him. "Just… keep an ear t' the ground, okay?"

"I know I don't, but I'd rather not let my mood spread." Magnes heads over to the door and opens it, looking back at her. "I'll see you around, and I'll keep my eyes open." Then, he's gone, shutting the door behind him.
