Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

(Future) History

After at last bartering their freedom out from under John Logan’s thumb in 2009, Bebe had hoped that she and Jack might be able to settle into a life less extraordinary and discover something akin to domestic bliss but, alas, this was not to be. By the time their former pimp and employer’s trial rolled around in 2012, they had come to an impasse on what part they should play in his punishment – Bebe begging to help put him away while Jack struggles to keep them both as far outside of the media circus that ensued as possible. In order to keep her from dragging them both down in Logan’s wake, Jack initiates a reenactment of Bebe’s initial kidnapping and take her out onto the Atlantic in a small yacht. Remarkably, this seems to settle their issues almost immediately and the next few months are spent recapturing all of the misremembered joys of their relationship. However, within days of word reaching them that Logan’s trial had finally come to an end, the pirate abandons his china doll on the high seas after one last night of passion, leaving only a letter to explain his motivations – it’s for her own good, she deserves a better life, all the usual excuses – and Bebe’s heart breaks.

She manages to make her way back to the familiar port of Fresh Kills Harbor and then promptly falls apart like a house of cards in a hurricane and attempts to commit suicide in some suitably tragic but easily thwarted way. How she ends up in a state-run mental health facility is anyone’s guess. She’s admitted as a Jane Doe and while the search for her identity is underway, there’s at least one familiar face by her bedside in the shape of Flint Deckard, graduate student intern in psychology. When she finally confesses to having retained all of her supposedly lost memories, she reveals that she’s actually Bijou Baxter, long-lost heiress to the undefined Baxter legacy, daughter of Canada and France. When this is confirmed, the ensuing media frenzy both helps and hinders her recovery and subsequent matriculation through one of New York’s finest universities, where she majors in business management and accounting.

However, following in her father’s footsteps, she pursues her pilot’s license and manages to meet Sonny Bianco (in disguise as Reg Cooper) when she’s hired on in 2018 to pilot his private plane. Their relationship swiftly escalates (or degenerates) to something utterly unprofessional and culminates with an engagement recently proposed and accepted on Bebe’s thirtieth birthday.

Evolved Ability (Magnetism)

If it's made of metal, she can pretty much have her way with it. Are you sure this is where you parked your car?

Trivia and Notes

  • Bebe is no longer Bebe — she insists on being called Bijou now in an effort to leave behind the moniker of her misbegotten youth.
  • Bebe almost always wears a wig while she's out and about. She has quite an extensive collection of very tasteful coifs to choose from — nothing garish or gauche — and while she claims to take simple pleasure in playing "dress up" it is, in actuality, an act undertaken to maintain some sort of separation between her public and private personas.
  • While life might seem idyllic for Bijou “Bebe” Baxter in the bright future, the truth is far less brilliant than it may seem. Her relationship with Sonny, while sweet, is based entirely on a series of lies that both of them work very carefully to maintain for the sake of their mutual sanity. Notably, she is also not “out” to the public (or Sonny) about her Evolved status or the nature of her ability, despite the seemingly warm and welcoming atmosphere that now pervades society in an attempt to coax mutants like her out of hiding – it’s the one piece of her soul that she tries to keep to herself, the one thing she clings to while searching for her identity in an otherwise strange and treacherous sea known as “normalcy”. She lives a very public life and even as she’s reclaimed her “true” identity, she still doesn’t know who she is and struggles to find herself in every hour of every day.
