Scene Title | Two Women Looking For Work… |
---|---|
Synopsis | ..walk into Old Lucy's. Both come out with a chance at becoming part of the crew at the bar. |
Date | June 22, 2009 |
Old Lucy's has a vibrant and lively feel to it, from the dark wooden floors to the shady crimson walls lit up by neon lights and many times, the flashing of cameras from the oft-crowded floor. The mirror behind the bar reflects prices of various drinks, bottles lined up, as well as the entire saloon as seen from the bartenders; bolted-down stools line the other side, and there are loose tables and chairs placed all around, though many times they find themselves pushed back for more space within the center of the saloon. A few speakers are placed at strategic places and around a raised stage to the far corner from the bar. Above the counter, an obviously well-used bar is hung; it is this that the girls working will use should there be dancing, which is one reason many patrons choose to come aside from the drinks. Across the bar and near the back, there is a door that leads to the owner's office and just inside a stairwell that leads a apartment on the floor above the bar.
It's early afternoon at Old Lucy's, which means not too many customers but that doesn't mean that Izzy isn't working. The bartender wears a short miniskirt with knee high heeled boots and a short and tight black tank top. Her hair spills over her face as she wipes down a section of the bar. Some old school rock song plays in the background.
Adelaide's not in too much of a rush though she's been semi-regular here, scoping the place out, though today she shows up with a Gitaur case, along with her bag. "Hello." she calls out, peering around knowing that at this time of the day the place was probably not busy.
Still a little early for Kaylee, who is use to being up til all hours of the morning and getting up later in the day, but she pushes through the door to the bar. Wearing her leather biker jacket.. Her flannel shirt, white t-shirt, worn jeans and biker boots, she stops just inside the door and frowns a bit as if trying to decide something. She finally decides to head to the bar, stepping around Adelaide to do so, giving a polite nod. Leaning against the bar she waves done someone anyone.
"And what exactly can I get for you two ladies?" Isabelle says as she to stand in front of the bar facing Kaylee. Hands on her hips and eyes studying the two women. She grins and tilts her head. "Name's Isabelle, or Izzy. I own this place."
Adelaide blinks. She makes a small 'cha-ching' motion before settling in. "Umm I was wondering, if you might be willing to hold open mic night." she sats upfront moving a little closer to Izzy taking stock of her.
Brows quirk up a bit at the woman, a small smile touching her lips. She hops up on one of the stools waiting for Adelaide to finish talking. She rests an elbow on the bar, eyeing the musician curiously. Only after the other woman stops speaking does she offer her own name, "Kaylee.. Kaylee Thatcher. I'm really hoping Abigail got around to mentioning me?"
The bartender stares at the two women. Ade is given a soft smile. "Trying to sing, well why not? Just need to audition of course." A wink is given to the guitar holding. The party girl is given a look stare before Isabelle breaks out into a grin. "Ahh so you'll the newbie. Well it's nice to meet you Kaylee, when can you start?"
Adelaide grins. "My name's Adelaide Xylander." she says quickly. "And yes, I am trying to. Audition?" she grabs her gitaur. "I came prepared if you'd like to hear."
Jaw dropping open in surprise, Kaylee can't believe it was that easy. It's like… "Wow. Okay.. I didn't expect it to be like that." There is amusement in her tone, she looks like she's waiting for the punchline. She spreads her hand a part and grins. "When do you need me to start? I got nothing going that can't be rescheduled."
"No, my dear songstress. /You/ are going to audition for the patrons. That's when they are all here. So sometime this week." Izzy chuckles and looks back to Kaylee. "It's not that hard, I give you a couple nights to see how you do with the bar. You get paid for both nights, it's like a trial round. If I like ya.. you get to stick around."
Adelaide nods. "Oh. That I can do, Izzy," she nods, "Finally someone who doesn't expect me to do a private audition, for them first."
Kaylee gives a short nod of her head and a grin. "Sounds fair enough to me. Hopefully I won't disappoint. I've never bar tended, but I spent a lot of time in them." She's thoughtful and adds. "It won't be a problem that I don't drink? When I was a kid I went on a bender and landed in a hospital.. but I still go out to bars with friends. I tend to designate myself to drive. Makes a girl popular." grinning she shrugs. "If it's alright, then when you want me to start trying to show I'm worthy?"
"I let Abby work here so I'm sure I can let you work here. No experience needed. Abs came knowing nothing. She's a pro now." Izzy says and then looks at both women. "You guys can both start sometime later this week. Maybe Thursday." She nods to herself and grins at the two women.
"Wonderful." Kaylee says sounding relieved. "I could really use the job and Abigail had good things to say." Hopping off the stool, Kaylee offers her hand. "Thank you, Isabelle for the opportunity to prove myself." She sounds pretty genuine about that.
Adelaide nods in agreement. "Yes, thank you very much.
"Alright, see you gals soon!" Isabelle calls and takes the hand to shake before she moves off to pour some drinks. Whistling a sweet tune.
