Battery Park City

Battery Park City is a 92-acre planned community at the southwestern tip of lower Manhattan. The land upon which it stands was created on the Hudson River using millions of pounds of dirt and rocks excavated during the construction of the World Trade Center and certain other construction projects, as well as from sand dredged from New York Harbor off Staten Island. The neighborhood, which is the site of the World Financial Center along with numerous housing, commercial and retail buildings, is named for adjacent Battery Park.

Battery Park City is bounded on the east by West Street, which isolates the area from the Financial District of downtown Manhattan. To the west, north and south, the area is surrounded by the tidal estuary of the Hudson River. The development consists of roughly five major sections. Traveling north to south, the first neighborhood, the "North Residential Neighborhood," consists of high-rise residential buildings, a large hotel, Stuyvesant High School and the World Center Mall. Former parkland in the area was in the process of being converted into high-rise buildings before the bomb in 2006, and now much of the unfinished constructions lie in much the same condition as the ghostly footprints of the World Trade Center, surrounded by derelict cranes and construction equipment.

Much of Battery Park City looks to be in better condition that the majority of upper Manhattan, its streets relatively well tended and buildings in fair condition, though even this far south signs of structural damage to some roads and buildings from the shockwave and debris of the bomb in 2006 are still visible. Due to its location and relative security from the damage of the bomb, Battery Park City is one of the most expensive areas in lower Manhattan to live and features the highest growth rate of new construction. It is not unusual to see banners for Linderman Group sponsored rebuilding efforts and Maxwell Corporation signs on half finished skyscrapers.

It's late afternoon in Battery Park City. The sun is just about set, leaving the city looking fairly dark and daunting. Street lights have started flickering on, and people have started milling home from jobs and various other activities. Among the people coming from 'other activities' is Adisa Dunham. Leaving the World Center Mall with two bags full of clothes, she starts the trek to her car, which happens to be parked a few blocks away. That's what happens when you go to a big, popular mall that has limited parking.

About a block from her car, along a side street, Adisa passes by a flickering streetlamp. Rolling her eyes, she shakes her head. "God, can't the city like…totally keep up with it's like, lamps that aren't working? They're totally bad for the eyes!" She shakes her head again, but continues walking.

Luke is loitering off to the side, and to judge by his appearance he is CLEARLY up to no good. He sees some girl leave the mall, and starts to follow her. However, he figures out that her bags contain nothing but clothes, and he rolls his eyes. God, what is it with women and wasting money on clothes?

A certain Swede is loitering as well. The broken streetlamp has caught his attention, and he seems to be heading over. Not straying too close, however… that could be risky. "Good evening, you two." He greets Adisa and Luke, "Are you trying to rob her or surprise her." He's looking at Luke, and the tall man's accent is obviously foreign. Scandinavian. "I would suggest avoiding that course of action."

Swirling around at the sound of the voice, Adisa blinks and goes wide eyed as she notices both Luke and Sven. Looking up at Sven, she nearly takes a step back. The man has to be nearly a foot taller than her, which is quite daunting to the girl. "Uh…I…" She glances to Luke and then back to Sven and does that a few more times. "Uhh….I like…umm…can I go home now?" What can she say? She was caught off guard!

What, is this guy trying to tell Luke what to do? "What's it to you?" he snaps back, temper flaring up immediately. "I can mug this bitch if I want to." he turns to frown at Adisa. "She doesn't look like she has anything good on her anyway."
"I like to think I have a phone, and can call the cops." Sven grins and moves a hand inside his jean jacket. He's well over six feet tall, "I wouldn't mess with me if I were you, I get shocking when people mess with me." Okay so that's not entirely true, but it's not entirely false either. "I don't suppose you'd like to get an electricity overdose?"

"P…p…please don't mug me." Adisa manages. "I don't think you'd wanna mug me…I mean like…like…I'm so totally too cute to mug!" That's her only defence right now and she's sticking to it! So far, seems like the tall foreign dude is on her side, so she slowly starts to scurry behind him. He may be daunting, but at least, for the time being, he seems more friendly to her than the other guy.

Luke narrows his eyes at Sven, then walks over to the streetlamp. He RIPS IT OUT OF THE GROUND, then tosses it down next to them. It falls with a subdued crash, not quite loud enough for people to call it in though. "You were saying?" he replies to Sven, completely unintimidated by the guy's height. Luke's the freaking HULK, man. "I don't suppose you'd like me to crush your skull with one hand?"

Well, as electricity sparks, a certain Sven starts to spark into electricity as well. He flashes into the streetlamp with a crackle of electricity, leaving naught but ruined clothes and their burned smell behind. One can only presume that's where he's at right now. His last words before he disappeared? "Fuck!"

Adisa's eyes go wide as the streetlamp is ripped out of the street. "Oh, fuzzle puppies." She mutters. "Tahir is sooooo now gonna like hearing about this." But that's the least of her problems, really. As Sven practically just disappears, she's left with the 'macho, macho man'. She gets down on her needs in front of him. "Please don't hurt me! Please please please!" She starts to plead. As she does so, she starts to glow ever so softly. The light is not coming from any lamp, but is in fact coming from her very skin.

Luke grunts in satisfaction. That's right, tough guy, you better run. When the girl practically craps her pants, he smirks at her. "Don't worry, I just needed to teach that idiot a lesson. He should learn not to go around and randomly threaten people unless he wants to be minus a ball or two." preen. Oh yes, Luke is liking this new power. Tough luck, Jessica, you ain't getting it back!

It's apparent that Adisa doesn't quite believe Luke. She'd prefer that other guy. At least he didn't call her an alternate word to a female dog. She looks up at Luke, skin still glowing softly. "Please…just…don't rip out any more street lamps…or like, stuff. I'm too fragile for all of this!" She sniffles. "If…if you let me go, I promise to never bother you!"

Luke seems unimpressed by Adisa's begging. "Eh, it's too much of a hassle to rip them out anyway." besides, Luke isn't angry enough for that anymore, although that's likely to change easily. Luke reaches for Adisa's arm, intending to haul her to her feet. "Get up already."

Elle was just on her way to the mall today, getting ready to go shopping for herself for once. She's got a whole list of things that she wants, though she certainly won't be able to get all of them. She slept in late after her adventures in helping someone kill a cop last night just after midnight, and punched Sven in the arm (rather weakly) when he tried to wake her earlier.

She's finally up and about, wearing a grey sweater dress with long sleeves and a black belt, as well as a pair of black leggings, and some fur-lined boots. She looks like she should be cold right now, crunching around in the snow like she is. But no, she looks comfortable. Perhaps even a little bit warm. Gotta love having a nice layer of heat energy to protect from the cold.

She's just minding her own business, really, when she spots that creepy Sushi kid, Luke, and some teenager, and a light post that has quite literally been ripped out of the ground. She slows, her eyes primarily on Luke. The hell?

Well, and to make Elle's day even better. Que naked Swede reappearing from that lamp post. "Whoa! Sorry about that!" Sven says, far more cheerfully than he should be. And that's about when he notices Elle, "Oh hey Elle, sweetie! I was just taking a walk when… uh… stuff happened!" Yeah, he's not going into detail on that one.

Putting up absolutely no fight, Adisa gets pulled up by Luke, clenching onto her two bags of clothes quite tightly. So much so, that her knuckles have turned white from the pressure. "Please…you're not gonna hurt me are you? I…can pay you? Do you want money?" She murmurs out, her skin shining a little bit more brightly still. It's then that Sven reappears, and naked to boot. At that, Adisa faints. Quite literally. The eighteen year old has had just a bit too much to handle. If he hadn't been naked, it may have been another story. But as is, she's definitely out cold, her ability shutting itself off the moment she faints.

"Sure." Luke replies to Adisa, holding out his hand. Hey, if she's offering him money, why not, right? But then she faints, and he turns to glower at Sven. Well, ok, she's fainted, so he'll just rummage for her wallet. Oh, and here I thought you ran off like a pussy." he narrows his eyes at Sven, then smirks. "Maybe I should call the police on YOU for indecent exposure." heh. Elle isn't noticed, yet, but that's likely to change soon.

And as Sven pops out of the lamp post, all nice and naked, Elle just…stops. And stares. At Sven's face, for the record— she's become very good at not seeing his private parts when he's naked, these days. "Sven— motherfuck." She frowns, and slaps him on the chest. Then, from her rather large bag, she pulls a blanket. Her backup in case she does the same thing Sven does. This is shoved against his chest. "Cover yourself up, you dummy. Why were you in the light post?"

She doesn't wait for an answer, suddenly peeking around Sven to watch as Luke begins to rummage around in Adisa's purse. This prompts her brow to sink down low into a scowl, and she promptly shoves (weakly) past Sven. One hand goes out, and— well, it begins to glow. And her purse is clicking, making a sound akin to a geiger counter going off. Probably because it is.

Then, a rather large beam of light…just barely misses Luke's head. In fact, he has a nice little //line down the center of his head, consisting of hair that is now much shorter than the rest of his hair. The beam itself crashes against the street a ways away. It's brief, but it leaves a pretty frightening looking burn mark.

"You get the hell away from that poor girl, Luke." Wait, how does this tiny little redhead know his name? Who knows. One thing is for certain…Sven is getting a nice little wave of warmth that's emanating off of Elle. Keep calm, Bishop, or you'll burn your clothes off.

Luke ducks when he gets this beam of energy flying at him, and he whirls around. "What the hell?!" he exclaims. "She SAID I could have her money." oh hey, it's… wait. He knows her, but not with that hair or eye color. "You!" blink. "What the hell." he repeats, with a different intonation. He reaches up to feel his hair, and scowls.

Sven wraps himself in the blanket, and makes his way back to Redbird to get some clothing.

Elle scowls at Luke, her hand still glowing for a brief moment, before the glow flickers out. She's still a little warm, but she's not mad mad. "She sounded scared when she said that, you ass. She was clearly terrified of you for some reason." The redhead shakes her head, reaching a hand up to pinch the bridge of her nose as she breathes a few times.

"You needed a haircut anyhow. Girls like a well-trimmed guy." Elle shakes her head.

A little groan emits Adisa as her eyes groggily start to open. "But Daddy. It's not a school day." But then, all of the sudden, he eyes flash open. And she'd hopped that all of this was just a dream, and that she'd wake up in her bed. But no. No such luck. Scrambling for all her backs, she runs out of there before anyone has a chance to stop her.

"Well she shoulda been." Luke gets an ego boost when people are afraid of him, because it's totally attention that they're paying to him and only him. Preen. "After all, that naked dumbass decided it was smart to try threatening me. He woulda crapped his pants if he hadn't zapped out of them."

Elle rolls her eyes. Apparently, she isn't scared of him. Not when she can probably blast a hole in him. "You'll have to forgive Sven. He's from Sweden. I don't know, maybe their social customs are different." Though there was probably a reason for Sven to threaten Luke. She shakes her head slowly.

"So since our little girl just ran away, why don't you tell me why Sven just jumped out of a light pole that appears to have been uprooted from the ground? And why that girl is apparently scared of you?" She arches her brows, her arms crossed over her chest as she stares at Luke in anticipation of an answer.

Luke crosses his arms, smirking at her. "See that pole? I ripped it out of the ground." he brags. "I was gonna hit the idiot over the head with it but decided not to." despite what happened in the past, Luke isn't quite willing to voluntarily kill people in cold blood.

Elle tilts her head to the side, arching one brow up higher than the other. Superstrength? Really? She never pegged him to be the type. "Seriously? Dude, you need to take a chill pill. I remember you, you're…lonely. You like girls, I remember that too." She moves her hands to her hips. "You should learn to chill out. Sven is harmless, unless you let him touch you right when he goes into whatever electronics he goes into. Girls dig a calm, suave guy."

She shoulders her bag once more, suddenly offering a dazzling smile to Luke. "Tell you what. If you learn to control that attitude and temper of yours, I'll go on one date with you. But! You have to be a gentleman. And remember, I'm only agreeing to one date." She might as well help someone else out with that whole anger management thing.

Turning, she steps over the downed light pole, and begins walking toward the mall. As she passes Luke, she presses a business card to his chest. Then, she's off to SHOP.

Luke frowns at Elle after she leaves, and eyes the business card. "Huh, calm and suave are two things I'm definitely not." he mutters. "Who says I want to date you now anyway." well, ok, he does, but that's beside the point.
